Sunday at Fremantle Boat Harbor

Bev and I were having a chat this morning and somehow our conversation led to the potential of my meeting a millionaire or billionaire here in Perth.  I said I’d have to go to Fremantle where all the millionaires keep their yachts and Bev suggested I should investigate this potential.  So I decided, it’s such a beautiful Sunday, lunch on the board-walk would be lovely.

So I jumped in my new zippy little car I bought about six weeks ago, picked up my friend John (I owed him a nice lunch after that evening he chauffeured me in a nice white stretch limo) and drove down the beautiful coast road to Fremantle.

My zippy little car

For those of you who might not know Fremantle….think about the America’s Cup (Yachting) and remember back in the late 80’s when we won the cup off you guys and the race was brought to Fremantle.

I havent been to Fremantle in more than ten years so it was lovely to go down there and see how much it’s changed.

The seafood was so beautiful and fresh and not too expensive considering the size of the portions.

John (who is on a diet so he skipped the side of French fries) ordered barbecued squid which were succulent and tender and had a lovely smokey barbecue flavor.  I ordered barbecued scallops (my favorite seafood) and it was to die for!!! The salads were so fresh and crisp and came with a beautiful dressing.

After lunch we went for a bit of a stroll across to the park and then back to the car for a nice drive back up the coast and home.

It was a very nice day but we didn’t get to meet any millionaires or billionaires for that matter.

But who cares, the day could not have been better.

WOW! This is way cool, Maria! I like that car, too. Must be efficent with that small of a size. I drove a minivan that looked like that in high school...very cool. I made it look like everyone wanna ride in it...LOL!

''...my meeting of a millionaire or billionaire...'' What a gold-digger! LOL! {#basic-laugh.gif}

gold digger??  pfft.  even billionaires fall in love and why not with maria? :)

Yer right....that was uncalled for. An attempt tuh be funny turned wrong! Well, she could go to th' poorest place an' find 'er a good man/woman....so......yeah....that was a big foot in th' mouth! {#smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif}

LOL!!!  not a full foot in the mouth...perhaps a toe?  oh wait...lets not mention toes....we both know what happened last time i mentioned one.

Oh man....jus' had tuh go there....HAHAHA! {#the-rock.gif} Never a dull moment, eh?

ha....just couldn't resist the urge !!

Ha, ha ha! I see that....women sometimes can't resist their urges with me....

oh, i see...is that it?    i ain't saying anything more....not teasing karma this time. :)

That is how it is....ya should know that by now, Bev! {#wink.gif} Pfft....karma? Testin' karma tuhday wouldn't be good fer YOU, but fer me? Good lazy day...we'll see what happens...ha ha ha!

It was Bev's idea!!!!..{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}  If I was a gold digger I would have settled for one or two of those up in Jakarta. Met some VERY ultra rich palm oil plantation owners and a couple of them actually asked me out for a date.  Long story.

My cute little car is very fuel efficient and easy to zip around in and way too easy to park.  I worry that someone will steal it because it only takes two hefty guys to lift it up and put it in the back of a truck...lol.

No problems with the gold-digger thing....if I met a super rich dude that I really liked I would be the first gold-digger in line...lol.

HAHA! I bet you would have! I don't doubt it, too. Seems like ya got th' right chemistry tuh make it work! {#wink.gif}

no harm in trying, is there? Thank you K2...hope your weekend was great too.

Heh, I suppose not. Ehh...it was alright. Nothin' unusual....yers was much better than mine! {#basic-laugh.gif}

ooohhh....Beautiful maria!!   Sounds like you and John had a fabulous time and nice of you to take him to lunch after the plush limo ride!  The weather is making me a little envious but at least you're enjoying and making the most of it.

I'm convinced theres a billionaire out there just waiting to meet you. :)

Thanks for the ''idea'' Bev, it was a beautiful day and I loved it down there. It was like a big party atmosphere and there was even a jazz band playing off the back of one of those boats.  I took a pic of them too, will see if it will upload and I will post it here.

John was a hoot as usual, I was gonna go on my own but he's such a fun person to go out with, I had to ask him.  It's quite a long way from my place.

These guys were playing jazz from the boat, they were excellent...made it even more ''party-like'' on the board-walk.

Looks like tons of fun maria and a new adventure venue.  I like places where you don't have to get all dressed up to have a good time.

Aussies dont like dressing up Bev, especially not on a beautiful Sunday...lol. Shorts, t-shirts, flip-flops....hats and sunscreens made more fashion statements than anything else....lol.

Sunday best....lol.  T-shirts and shorts are the order of the day for most.

hey!  my kind of people...maybe i need to spend my winters down under! :)  looks like the type of fun i like!

oh if only you could come down here and see Fremantle for yourself...you will love it Bev....it's a beautiful place.

the one thing i miss living in oklahoma is the ocean...this is the first time in my life i've ever lived more than 2 hours from it.  i'm landlocked here...  :)

I couldnt imagine not being able to get to the ocean, it's one of my most favorite things in the world. I'd drive two hours to get to it...lol.

i love the ocean...to get to the ocean now its at least a days journey so we take the bike ride there every once in awhile just so i can get my "fix". :)

cant think of a better way to get there than on a harley...lol.

LOL!!  a woman of excellent taste and great style, maria!!

why thank you ma'am!!...lol.

my pleasure, friend.  ♥

oh yeah!  I love  your new car!   Its perfect to zip around in and cuter than hell.

yes I love it too. I would have liked a nice bright red or green or blue one but this is the only one they had that agreed with my bank account at the time and everything about it was such a good deal.

I always told my girls that it was just as easy to fall in love with a millionaire as it was to fall in love with the guy next door.  Sadly, neither of them listened.  Oh, well, I tried!

well, seeing the top 1% is getting such a beating right now from the other 99%, maybe it's not such a sad thing...{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}

I doubt that 1% really cares, do you think?

you're right, they probably dont give a hoot!!!!...lol.

Sounds like a wonderful outing for a Sunday afternoon.  I'm jealous, I love eating seafood at seaside restaurants.  I'd have to pass on the squid, I'm afraid, but would love the scallops...or shrimp....or crab leg....or lobster....or a combo platter with all of the above...or, or, or most any other kind of seafood.

How do you expect to meet some millionaire there, if you've got a guy friend along?????

 I agree go solo!!!!

My favorite food too mamakat, I love all seafood except for raw oysters...I cant seem to be able to put one of those in my mouth for some reason...lol.

John is gay and single and looking for his own millionaire...lol.....we (jokingly) compete for attention....lol.

too obvious, you gotta be ambiguous and discreet and pretend you dont want them. Gee, maybe that's why I havent managed to snag one yet...{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}{#evil_laught.gif}

I can do raw oysters if I'm pretty well buzzed already.  But don't know that I could sober...lol

But having a male companion, even if gay, I would think, would tend to scare off some guy that noticed you and thought you were attractive.

Back in my younger days, late 20's to mid-30's....I wasn't necessarily looking for a millionaire but had grand visions of hooking up with a successfull doctor, dentist, attorney, CEO, or salesman making megabucks.  I had the looks for it....met and dated several during that time....didn't have the stomach for it.  Most of them were jerks.

unfortunately I found most of the well-to-do guys to be jerks too mamakat...I dont know why but it seems like money or status turns them into jerks for some reason...lol.  I'm not really fussed....if he's a nice guy I dont really care if he's rich or not....money would just be a bonus I think.

If my gay companion scares off somebody who might be interested, then maybe he aint the one...lol.

I am seriously not looking for anyone right now, I am focusing more on selling my house and finding direction in my life...where I want to live, what I want to do....maybe think about getting a job or going back to school.

I ended up marrying one who was poorer than me...and we've struggled finanacially for most our 24 years together.  He's a dreamer, not a doer.  He's a real sweety, but our life has NOT been easy most of the time.

I understand, you're at a crossroads in your life.  Many directions you could go....which one, which one, which one...????

The best advice I can give????  If you meet someone and want at least a little security and/or stability....if he's a dreamer, not a doer....run the other direction as fast as you can.

{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}wonderful advise mamakat...thank you. I'm financially secure in my own right..I have a nice little nest egg in my savings account, I have my superannuation (401k) and a house that's fully paid for which I am going to sell....most of the money will go into an investment account. I dont have any debts and I dont cost much as I pretty much prefer the simple things. If I meet someone who's not so well off, as long as he doesnt sponge off me, I'm sure it wont be so bad.

{#basic-smile.gif} {#basic-smile.gif} {#basic-smile.gif} YOu're way ahead of where I was when I remarried.

lol

what a great place! I love all the pine trees too, at our coast all there are is Palm trees....is that a little Ford? I think you could hang out there, but my thoughts are the rich guys wouldn't be there on the weekend, they are rich they would be there during the week. go back to that restaurant and sit in the bar and have a few drinks and see what comes your way, and hell yeah gold dig, why not???

Fremantle is a beautiful place. It's a very old port city and got a major refurbishment when we hosted the America's Cup. Now it's one of the most up-market suburbs of Perth..well actually it's a city of it's own, not a suburb. Some very beautiful federation houses worth millions of dollars.

my little zippy car is a Hyundai Getz, much cheaper than a Ford...but it's just as good.

We have palm trees way up north of Western Australia where it is tropical. Perth is more mediterranean I guess and pine trees thrive better down here than coconut palms.

ours are more date and some other little seed, mostly useless, lol. It's beautiful there for sure!!

oh, the food looked great, I love both can I get them both on the same plate???

the good thing about the board-walk seafood restaurant, you can ask for anything and they will accommodate.  You can even have a platter with every single kind of seafood on it if you like, so long as you're willing to pay for it...lol.  The scallops were so scrumptious I nearly ordered a second plate...lol.

O love them, in fact we were shopping today ans I picked up a big bag of extra large ones, too much so I put them back, but man you had me thinking, lol

And here I thought you were going to end with John found a millionaire!!! LOL

Coincidence???? I ate in a restaurant on a marina and I had scallops (with shrimp)--will be writing about The Old Key Lime Restaurant during the week--you would love it but for some reason--and it was a beautiful day--there were very few boats, yachts and no sail boats out! :O(

if John ended up with one before me I would really spit the dummy!!!!...lol.

There were hundreds maybe even thousands of yachts at the boat harbor but most of their owners were ashore probably eating some yummy seafood too. It was a glorious day, just a very slight sea breeze and it wasnt too hot.

Let's see--our tomorrow is your yesterday so you are in Monday while we are still Sunday--in any case we hit a record of 87 degrees today and yet a beautiful breeze made the day!

yes, it is Monday morning here in Perth...and another beautiful day. We had the slightest breeze yesterday, look how calm the water is....not so much as a ripple.

It's Presidents Day here--a Federal holiday--they combined Lincoln and Wsahington's birthday!!

Where do you go swimming? I remember going to Bondi Beach in Sidney.

I havent been for a swim yet...I have a swimming pool in my back yard but it is now a duck pond...reeds and all...lol. I like Scarborough Beach or Cottesloe Beach, both very beautiful.  We also have a nudie beach here called Swanbourne but there's a lot of really dodgy perverts go there.

'dodgy perverts'---they are every where!!!  As it si the temperature is in the high 70s, it is sunny and I am off to the pool for an hour!!

Maria, it is good to see you are enjoying your self and had a wonderful day, I really enjoyed the pictures. James news

Thank you James. I'm glad you enjoyed the pics.{#heart.gif}

when you find that rich guy you must stipulate a tour of the United States to meet all of your blog friends, especially Martin!

If is a better notion to when Mary...lol.  I'm not really fussed.  I'm still contemplating that trip anyway...when I sell my house.

I missed this somehow. I LOVE your car. Isn't it fun and freeing to be driving again??? How much is gasoline there? I hear it's going to hit $5.00 a GALLON by summer here and around the world I guess. I think it's about 3.27 here now. Hubby takes my car out on the weekend sometime and fills it up, so I only see the prices when I'm driving to work and pass a gas station. Five bucks a gallon is gonna be rough because it will then raise the price of EVERYTHING else that has to be shipped to it's destination...which is everything I guess.

But I'm sure you're enjoying it. Do you guys drive on the other side of the road from us? and is your steering wheel on the left like ours or the right? I'm always curious about these things.

I can't tell you how happy I am to have you back here. Because of that, I'm spending more time here again too. Just makes me smile :-)

I've never tried squid and doubt I ever would...but I LOVE scallops...AND the fries!!!

{#heart.gif} find yourself a millionaire gal!! He'd be a lucky man!

I love my little Zippy too. It's so easy to drive and very economical. Thank goodness because petrol here...oops I mean gasoline (we call it petrol in Aus) is around $1.50 per liter which is about $6.00 a gallon give or take a couple of cents. Many people are hurting because of the price of petrol. It hits us not only in the tank but also in prices of goods and services.  The providers of goods and services pass the expense of fuel to the consumers.

We drive on the left hand side and our steering wheel is on the right hand side. The rule of the road is....''the one on the right has the right of way".

I love being back at blogster....it's been fun and my friends are still wonderful and I love interacting with you all.  I just need to be a good girl and keep out of trouble...lol.

I dont know about finding a millionaire....I'm 40 something so I'm sure if any of them are looking, they would pick someone much younger...lol.

OMG...petrol is already so expensive there...I'm sure it's going to skyrocket because of the problems in the mideast. Shoot - All the blood and money we shed in Iraq, seems we should be paid back in oil...they have tons of it. THEY OWE US...and we suffer this way. We need to become more self sufficient and not depend on the middle east so much. The prices of everything are gonna be hurting us a lot more by summer time :-(  Is your car automatic or manual transmission?

Automatic.  I dont mind manual but I am now at an age where I dont mind being lazy....lol.

Petrol is the one thing that is killing the under-priviledged, sick and elderly. Thank goodness we have a very good welfare programme here that helps out those who are in serious need.  And guess what, this is not a communist or socialist country.  We just have people who care and most dont mind paying for the less fortunate.  Of course we have the ones who dont like it much, but they're just the a***holes most countries have.

Yup...we have them too. The right wingers here call them "moochers" "dregs of society" and say the government steals from us to help them out. some people have no hearts at all. many families who NEVER thought of themselves as poor or unfortunate have found themselves living in their car....lost a job...then lost a home. people who worked hard all their lives. i don't understand people who have no sympathy for those who have hit hard times. but they'll send us to war and spend billions of dollars each month and countless numbers of lives to fight wars over nothing. go figure!

what is even more incomprehensible is these same people who have no sympathy for those less fortunate just love the idea of giving tax breaks to the millionaires and billionaires....go figure is right.

Absolutely beautiful!  What an amazing place. When u win the lottery were going there too!

oh you bet okie.....I would love to show you my neck of the woods....that's after I check out yours first....lol.

that's a date!  {#basic-laugh.gif}

Beautiful photos tho you said you were disappointed with the resolution. I thought they were crisp, color intense and a super assortment of shots. Enjoyed the post tho wish I could have been there with you to dine and chat.

It sure would have been lovely if you were here too....I bet you'd love Fremantle.

Win-D: I'm thinking about a trip there one of these days but trying to stay state side this year.

unless you win lotto of course!!!..lol.  It would be a pleasure to welcome you to Perth one day...we'd have a ball!!!

lol...I'll settle for a millionaire Geraldine.
