Five hours and twelve minutes, $1093.95.

This morning I took my 2003 Honda CR-V in for its 130,000 mile service.  After five hours and twelve minutes I walked out of the service department $1093.95 poorer.  So, at first blush it seems like that's bad news and for my bank account it most certainly is bad news.  But at second blush, I like my car.  It serves my needs.  It is paid for. So, honestly, I must have known that in order to keep it going it will require maintenance.  Yes, I did. It was expected.  So in spite of the shock value of the cost... I am thankful that I have no car payment.  I am thankful that it didn't cost $3000 to fix my car.  I am thankful that there was no really bad news.  Everything is in good order, transmission, tires, fluids, engine, electrical system, exterior.  My car still looks good and runs perfectly. I am satisfied.

I guess, I'm saying this... we tend to have strong opinions about things when we have just part of the information.  In our world of instant expression of opinion through social media, twitter, facebook, whatever, we tend to say what comes to mind before we get all the information.  Some things, we probably shouldn't even worry about... its none of our business.  Truth is, some people are gonna get ripped off... other folks are going to be extremely gracious for no reason at all... there is going to be good news... there is going to be bad news.  I don't have to solve the problems of the world... just observe and learn.

Sometimes it is just wise to let information in, maybe ponder it a bit and then just let those directly affected handle the reactions to the information.  It's their business... not mine.  I'm happy to just drive my car and be content with being $1093.95 poorer and having spent 5 hours and 12 minutes reading and writing and searching for peace in a world that could certainly use another person with a good attitude.

So... today... I'm a satisfied customer.

Peace to you today.

It must be a Honda thing, I adore my 2002 civic SI!

I have known a number of friends and acquaintances over the years who totally swear by their Honda CRVs. I'd buy one in a second if I could. Tried and true.
