Barack Obama's Debate and Switch

Barack Obama’s Republican primary opponent, Alan Keyes, requested seven debates in the 2004 Illinois senate race. Many questioned why Obama only agreed to three debates, until they saw him in action. After the last debate, I think many of us breathed a sigh of relief. If there had been seven debates, we might well be referring to Senator Alan Keyes.

As it was, Keyes, who was expected to take about 17% of the vote, 19% tops, came in at 27%. That is far higher than a candidate who was not from Illinois, who had been clobbered in several races in his home state of Maryland, who went around saying “Jesus would not vote for Barack Obama,” and who had little or no backing from the Illinois Republican party, should have claimed.

But the truth is that Obama was taking on water during those debates faster than the Titanic. Another blogger has correctly characterized Obama’s performance:
“Sen. Obama does not like to be pressed. When pressure is applied to him, he becomes visibly agitated. His eyes serve as a billboard for the anger he feels…his hand gestures border on hostile…his responses curt. His debates with Alan Keyes are telling…”

While Obama is a top notch orator when going from a script or his memorized stump speech, his footwork can be messed up pretty easily when he goes live. It is difficult for Obama, as you can see in his effort to straddle the line on same sex marriage in the video, to maintain his several positions under fire. Robert Louis Stevenson must have been rolling over in his grave watching how fast Obama debated and switched between Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, to see what he only imagined be reality.

At the upcoming presidential debates, Barack Obama can continue to run, but he cannot hide. Write down what you believe are Obama’s positions, whichever ones you choose, watch the debates to compare, and then be prepared to…………….
ASK OBAMA WHY
