Blogster Tips: Putting images in your articles..and comments.

Sometimes words aren't enough. Sometimes you have to put a photo [JPG or GIF] to get the point across. This is how you do it.

There are 3 ways of placing images in your posts in Blogster:

  1. You UPLOAD images straight from your harddrive to the blogster server. This the STANDARD and best way to put images in your post.  The tool is on the right side of the post area.

  1. First, place your cursor where you wish to put the image in your blog.
  2. Click on BROWSE to select the file in your local drive, then click Upload. Once it is uploaded, a thumbnail of this image appears.
  3. Click on the thumbnail to show the size you wish the image to be.

2. The next best way is to UPLOAD the images to your Photo Album. Then after it uploads, you can select then right click to copy [or just do a control-C on your keyboard], go back to your post and right click to paste [or control-V on your keyboard]. This technique also works when you wish to put an image in your comment/reply box to your friends. Check out the video for the mini-tutorial.

3. The easiest way is to go to a website where you got the pic and then right-click on your mouse to Copy Image [or control V] . Go to your article and place  your cursor where you want the image to be. Right click and paste it [ or control-V on your keyboard]. You can also use this for putting images in your comment area. The downside to this one is once the image is taken away from that site, it will affect the image you posted localy...
Just Added:
Another variation is to select the image by click-hold-and-drag your mouse over the image . Then press Control-C to copy. Go back to blogster, and press Control V to paste. The video shows how to click-hold-and-drag your mouse over the image [sorry...no audio yet].

*** The last two techniques are the EASIEST, but not the most practical way to do it. Once these images on the other site are moved or taken down, the image you posted here on blogster will display a blank space. Another reason for the blank space could also be, because the other site will not allow images to be copied directly.

Thank you Rica!

You're welcome Allie! I hope this helps...

it never lets me copy to the replies......I've sent in a bug request and NO answer on it......

er... try the CONTROL-C and CONTROL-v technique instead of rightclicking to copy/paste

ok, Ill try that...

nope, nothing

....sniffle, snif snif.....

see, I just went to my photos, copied the photo, and pasted it and as you can see, there is no photo in the above reply. Can someone PLEASE fix this problem????????

I'm with you.  Sometimes it works other times it doesn't

I can put them in in my own posts with no problem, but it won't do it in a reply, it's kind of frustrating........

oh..like this?

Where did you find that neat animated graphic?

nope, I can't do it. I know how, it always works everywhere else but here.

lol....OOOPS! somewhere. I just did a google search for animated gifs.

@charlie: awwwwwh!!!!

....charlie..I added a video on the post for you.

Wow, thanks! I have always had a huge problem trying to put pics into my blog.

You are a lifesaver! Or a photosaver anyway.

You're welcome. If you have any problems, just send me a note or wrote on my wall! http://www.blogster.com/rica/

Rica: thanks alot. I don't have any trouble loading photos from my own albums here but images from other sites cause me problems. Some times they work, they load and appear here OK, then whoosh..they're gone. It may have something to do with copyright but I'm not 100% sure. I'll keep practicing but it does frustrate me not to be able to copy images from the free sites to add to my blogs.

oh... thank you for reminding me about that. I will add it to the post above. They are gone because once the image is taken down or moved some place else, blogster won't be able to find it and will therefore display an empty space.

OK. but why do some stay loaded forever and others do not or am I not noticing that they have vanished on other blogs? I see a small icon when my disappear

Rica: thanks again for your help and explanations. If I recall correctly Brian Co mentioned he subscribes to a website for an annual fee where he can access a photo gallery but not sure what or where it is. I'll have to ask him unless he shows up here and posts the link.

yup....you already gave the answer here:

"or am I not noticing that they have vanished on other blogs?"

OK!

{#basic-laugh.gif}

nope, click and drag, control c, control V. None of it works for me. You can post 300 videos for me, and it doesn't work, theres a bug in my blog.

snif!

yeah, I sent another bug report. I wish I knew someone on the inside here that could let the wizards know that I'm having problems with this. Maybe someone will pop up and read this blog?{#basic-laugh.gif}

I do #1----2 & 3 sounds like Greek to me--'photo album'?  What's that?????   LOL

hahahahahaha...fine...FOR YOU another tutorial.

thanks! I really needed this, I have posted this link to my blog "I have a question" I hope you do not mind I did it because I thought it would help others who were interested in knowing this as well, if you do not wish this to be let me know and I will most certainly delete it, ok? Thanks very much!

shure shure shure.....i don't mind. I truly don't.

thats great thanks so much, thanks again :-)

Great information, I have tried this (first suggestion) and had luck only once inserting a picture, but I will continue to try following the steps you have here.

Thanks!

you're welcome. {#basic-laugh.gif}

As I emailed you... none of these techniques work. Copy and paste screws up the alignment of the text because it doesn't give me the option of text wrapping. And the upload button on the right just shows a thumbnail but it does not put it in the text...

yup.. on top of the post...you should see a TREE ICON. that's the image icon. click on it and paste the url of the image. the alignment for the image is there...

you will need to play with it to see where the text flows nicely because it will depend how much text you have and how big the image is.

Thanks Rica, This is very helpful.

Can videos be imbedded in comments or only in blog posts?

only in blog posts....sorry...

Thanks!
