Books with Series....
I have really enjoyed reading this week. I started off with Found by Margaret Haddix, published in 2008. This was truly one of neatest science fiction books I have ever read. One reason I am not a big fan of science fiction is because they can sometimes be too far fetched. Found is not... it is truly believable. Haddix does a great job at keeping the reader interested in solving the mystery behind the characters adoptions. I want to keep reading the series to find out what missing child from the past Jonah is, and can't wait to discuss this book in class.
The second book I read this week was The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, published in 2005. This book was amazing fantasy-adventure novel. If I taught world literature, this would be a great way to incorporate mythology into a curriculum. Riordan makes mythology fun and interesting because the characters are modern demi-gods who are faced with fighting monsters and gods in a modern world. I truly do think students would love this book in the classroom. I also want to keep reading this series to find out Percy Jackson's fate...
The third book this week is Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, published in 2008. This book could be considered adventure or science fiction. Either way, I haven't been able to put it down. I am currently on chapter seven, and Katniss has made it to the capital where she awaits her first day of training. I admired Katniss after she volunteered to go to the Hunger games so her sister would not have to. I would have done the same thing for any one of my siblings. Can't wait for the ending. I hope Katniss finds a way to stay alive.
All of these are wonderful series books.... I plan to add the rest of the series to my book list!
