Dear Jane Austen

Well, I just spent four hours in a car with my dad, his girlfriend, my little brother (even though he's about half a foot taller than me) and a little sister who never seems to stop talking. Great, huh? And we all know what I do when I get annoyed, read Jane Austen. Good thing that my dad let my pick up some books at the library before we left.

Basically, Dear Jane Austen(by Partice Hannon) is letters from modern times to Jane Austen and they magically get to her in the early 19th century. It's really entertaining because you get to see bits of Jane's life and what she would say in different situations.

I think that I have mentioned this before, but I do have other things that I'm interested in besides Austen. I love history. It's weird, I know, I just find it fascinating, I even wanted to be an Egyptologist (for more information, see the Future Education posts I did a while back). I also like art (sorry for not posting my art, need to borrow a scanner). And other things that I'm not in the mood to list right now.

I might post an entry about my family's "weekend get away". It's not really a get away, just a weekend across the state in a crappy hotel room and a trip to Lake Superior and an aquarium. I like the aquarium so I guess it's not a total loss.

Anyway, I'm just sitting, waiting for my sister to call back. As I said before, she lives in Boston and I don't get to talk to her much. Well, I hear my dad getting back from the store. Bye!

Haha that sounds like me (the first paragraph.) Except my dad has absolutely nothing to do with me because of his girlfriend lol.

Sorry to hear that.

Ah it doesn't really bother me, but thanks(:

Road trips are like that :-) The first ... hour or so is okay, but rapidly goes downhill.

I'm reading "The Egyptian" now. Back in Dec I read "Child of the Morning", which is an historical fiction novel about Hatshepsut. I read that one to get ... "the bad taste in my mouth" from "Reflections in the Nile", which was an inaccurate novel wrapped around the biblical Exodus. "Child of the Morning" is a better novel, but not as ... dramatic.

"Dear Jane Austen" sounds like it has a similar plot to that in the movie/mini-series, "Lost in Austen", except she magically takes Austen's place in time and has a trial-by-fire experience instead of consulting with her.

I've seen Lost in Austen and read the book. I've also read a lot of Egyptian books. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yeah, I thought you had seen "Lost in Austen".
