Burning man started in the San Francisco bay area many years ago. The guy who started it was an artist who had just broke up with a long time girl friend. On his birthday he decided to rid himself of the memory's and start fresh so he built an effigy of a man, had a party with his friends and burned the man signifying a rebirth. He felt so good he started doing it every year and the party grew and grew, soon it was to big for the area and they moved it to the Playa out side of Reno NV. It has grown to be a huge artists platform with larger than life art, with a theme every year for the art. There are all night parties and just in general craziness, but it's a safe environment and it lasts about a week or so. After it's over and cleaned up there isn't even a nil to be found on the Playa, they clean it so well. It looks like fun to me and my brother and his wife and his kids who want to go, go every year. They have a huge Martini Bar where they give away Martinis all day and night for a week. I posted you a link in my previous comment to the main site and a link to my brothers photos he's posted there, he is a photographer by the way and there are tons of other photos in there. It's a week of letting looses of your regular life and to be who you want to be. Maybe I'll do a post on it. But the site and it's photos will give a better idea of what goes on than I can.

I wouldn't guess there's to many little kids, I meant his over 18 kids he has. I'm not sure how a young child would process all of it, it's pretty bizarre at times....most of the time, lol. All I know is that they work hard on their Martini bar and just love the whole thing and it's a magor deal for them every year. I really think you would enjoy it myself.
