Hmm, except for the last one, these ladies have dark skin but caucasian features!

Here's my take on 'black beauty.'

Wow, look at you little-whip, you've come a long way. I'm impressed. {#thumbs_up.gif}

Great post, Holly. I love QL too.

That is, if you weren't being sarcastic!!!

No sarcasm on this one, Mr B.  I find many black women beautiful, the blacker the better.  Black as in without caucasian influence.

Nowadays so many black women are judged as 'beautiful' only if they look like white barbie dolls with brown skin.

Yeah, I think it's quite shallow the way people take so much pride in physical 'beauty' in the first place. Our bodies are only temporary, but our souls are eternal.

Attractive people come a dime a dozen, but beautiful people are very rare.

I so agree with you on this one Little-whip!

and, if you notice, the only "black" women to be seen marrying or being with a successful black man, are ones who are "mixed" and have either hair extensions, giving them "the long white hair look," or the mixture of their heritages gives them the hair desirable by these black men who really seek to be with the closest thing they can get to a white woman...

I'm also aware of the skin tone bias within the black community, with lighter skinned women thinking they are somehow 'better' than their darker sisters.  While these attitudes may indeed be holdovers from the days of slavery, it's high time we...as women of all shades and colors...move beyond that superficial crap.

Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, and that's fine as long as no personal judgements are made based on skin tone, but to my eye, the ladies I posted seem far more attractive.

The first woman I chose (and I do not know her name) seems to exude good health, and looks both approachable (friendly) and relaxed.

The second one, Alek Wek, has an amazing life story, her inky skin just SHINES and I especially love the little gap in her front teeth, she looks so naturally beautiful, so unlike the overprocessed and commericalized 'Queen Latifah' whose very name itself seems like a bad joke.

I chose the third woman because I don't associate beauty with age.  The lines on her face, the sadness in her eyes...you can just tell she earned every bit of it the hard way.  What I found beautiful about her was the look of determination and wisdom on her face, and without a speck of makeup or hair straightener... she moved me.  I'd like to know her, and that, to me, is the true test of beauty.

Well Said!

See for me, other than the bottom one.  I find none of yours attractive also for me it has less to do with skin tone than body size and age.

i have yet to decide what i think lol.

Want me to tell ya?

:)

Uhhh . . . Okay????????

Are you confused? Black women I think are hot

mmm . . . okay.  If you say so.

So what possesed you to click on the link??? You people are sick! {#gruebel.gif}

How you possibly see ANYHTING I've posted here as "sick"???  My comments have been quite vanilla.  Talk about a knee-jerk reaction on your part!  Sad.

No. I don't understand why you found the title intriguing if you think the topic is pointless.

The words "intriguing" and "pointless" were never used by me; they're YOUR incorrect assumptions regarding my thoughts, none of which I expressed in any manner.  You defensively jumped to unfounded conclusions, made accusations, and now you're simply trying to weasel out of your knee-jerk blunder.

I don't retract any statements. I meant what I said. It's obvious that you only clicked on this post to make dumbass, smart-aleky, rude gestures like: Uhhh....Okay???? and if you say so. Well whatever did you mean by that?

I've seen your little smart-aleky remarks others places and I ignored them. But these were unnecessary! Have a nice day.

Yep, you've been caught in an unjustifiable knee-jerk attack that in and of itself was quite "unnecessary," to use your word.  My comments were certainly not "sick" as you assert, nor do you have any evidence whatsoever that I found the title "intriguing" or the post's topic "pointless" as you foolishly alleged.  Yep, you screwed up . . . ant that's the bottom line.  Got cha' . . . I believe this is where PC-rules dictate I am supposed to say, "Have a nice day."  {#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}

No, you retracted because you got caught making a bad joke and no one laughed. Jokes on you, sir.

<chucking & shaking head>  Bomb, I was only only stringing you along--was intigued how very seriously you took this.  Of course my words were "unnecessary;" it's what I and most other Blogsters consider mere repartee, man.  Simply tossing a fly on the water to see who if anyone bites, a potential conversation starter--only words, Bomb.  Sadly, you totally missed the point, over-reacted.  Hey, it's no big deal, man--I was just amused you bit so hard & took it so far.  You've been had this time; suggest you take Blogster a bit less seriously. <still chuckling>

I do say so.

I would have expected no less.  {#basic-cool.gif}

Well yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder do I do say so.

Well, I wouldn't sleep with any of them..

{#saythat.gif}

Queen Latifah is my favorite too!  She is so funny!  There is a woman in my water aerobics class that reminds me of Queen Latifah.  She is so nice and her face resembles her as do her manurisms.

Holly, for me this one requires a little thought!!

Having lived through that whole era of the need to discover the beauty that iswithin....something black folks went through in the 60's....I have divided beautifu and hot/sexy into separate categories!!

I consider someone like Haley Barry as beautiful.....but Little whips first picture Uwe Ommer....oh my god....she is so hot or sexy!!!!{#basic-laugh.gif}

I meant to say Little Whips first picture by Uwe Ommer!!!

He's got some others that are just as good!!{#basic-laugh.gif}

Awesome choices Holly!

I personally liked your choices better than LW's, maybe because I am just more familiar with your woman than hers.

The point LW was trying to make was that a few of the women Holly chose did not necessarily posses Black features. They have conformed to another standard of beauty.

I got that!

Or perhaps it's simply because you've decided to despise me for some unknown reason, so you'd rather eat your own shit than be in agreement with me about anything under the sun.

LW:  Chill out!  I don't hate you.  I don't feel anything one way or another about you.  You are not a part of my circle of acquaintances.  You are just a name behind a computer.  However, are you aware that your paranoid, twisted thinking is a perfect example of trolling, just trying to get an emotional response from me.  And you say you don't "troll."

All I'm going to say to that is this, SWG...on holly's blog, I'll do as I please, whether your Assholiness considers it trolling or not.

And she's got the same open door on MY blog.

Suck it up and move along, nothing more to see here.

Exactly what I was trying to tell you.  In fact, you took the words right out of my mouth.

It must have been while you were kissin' me.....

{#basic-kiss.gif}

Actually, I think they all possess black features.  Maybe not African but certainly black. I alco do not think any conform to traditional standards of beauty.
