GF loves hers. Hasn't used anything else for like ten years now.

okay, even though all the ladies pretty much vote gross, for you i might do a "field trial"

I used a natural silk sea sponge from Greece.  No artificial substances or chemicals.  Just wash it out and reuse.  Sounds awful but totally wonderful.

I think I threw up in my mouth a little {#im-gonna-be-sick.gif} {#im-gonna-be-sick.gif} {#im-gonna-be-sick.gif}

LOL....ditto!

Yummy, isn't it!

Lmao.. I want to see if that product EVER takes off!!  I see a business closing soon in the future :D

Luckily well pass having to worry about all that, but even if I did...no thanks. {#no_flash.gif}

{#apploud.gif}

lol

Are you sure you do not want one?  Maybe i should try one and report back!

No thank you. What I would love is some way for a female to pee if stuck in traffic. I was once stuck on the interstate for SIX hours in a manual transmission car. I moved about half a mile an hour. Luckily I always pee before I leave work because I usually have errands to run. Men can come up with some options, but it got me thinking about the subject.

Thankfully, I have no plumbing anymore, so what's mentioned here isn't something I have to worry about any longer.  But it wouldn't have worked for me because it would have overflowed. Oh gross!!

We have these leaflets that come in our magazines and they have something like they give to men in hospitals to pee in, but it is shaped a little differently and it is supposed to be used in those situations. Wouldn't be very good though if you had a truck driver next to your car watching you trying to manouver the thing under you with drawers down! :)

ILC, I could not have used it either. My periods were a nightmare!

Looks like a mess waiting to happen to me!

 To darned true!

ewwe

LOL..for some reason it was less than an inch of snow/ice in the middle of the day that caused these traffic tie ups all over the city. i left work about 3pm and figure the interstate would surely be fine. wrong..it took me until 9:30pm to finally get home. i passed cars on the interstate that had been abandoned!! either they ran out of gas or people just got pissed. we had no clue what was going on or when we'd be moving. i was so mad i had to tell my husband to stop calling me asking where i was (he had called in sick that day.) it got me thinking about all the people who probably had to find a way to pee..lol

When I got home i INSISTED that i've never drive a manual transmission car again. I've had them my entire life and I could hardly walk when I got home. The next summer I got my first automatic car!!

Oh yum!  I know some gamers who prr in pastic bottles while gaming!  EWWW

*pee

They are pushing these in 3rd world countries. " Nothing to dispose of"....but read how you have to clean it- these countries do not have a lot of clean water or fuel!

Q. Which model/size should I use? A. The DivaCup is available in two models:
Model 1: For women under 30 years old who have never delivered vaginally or by ceasarean section.

Model 2: For women over 30 years old and/or for women who have delivered vaginally or by c-section.

The Model 1 cup is 1 11/16" (~4.3 cm) in diameter and the Model 2 cup is 1 13/16" (~4.6 cm) in diameter. Both cups are approximately 2 1/4" (~5.7 cm) in length in the body of the cup, with another 3/8" (~1 cm) stem (2 5/8" total length). The stem may be trimmed to adjust for comfort.

There is a small difference between the two sizes (Model 1 is 1/8" (~0.3 cm) smaller), but it is important to use the recommended sizing to prevent leakage.

We recommend Model 2 if you are 30 or over 30 years old, because as we age, our hips naturally widen and the vaginal muscles lose elasticity. Because the vaginal muscles hold The DivaCup in place, it is important to use Model 2 if you are over 30, even if you have not had childbirth.

Q. I'm 29 but will be turning 30 soon, should I buy Model 1 or Model 2? A. Model 2 may be best for you. There is 1/8 inch difference between the two models (Model 1 is 1/8" (~0.3 cm) smaller), but it is important to use the recommended sizing to prevent leakage.

We recommend Model 2 if you are 30 years old or older, because as we age, our hips naturally widen and the vaginal muscles lose elasticity. Because the vaginal muscles hold The DivaCup in place, it is important to use Model 2 if you are 30 or over 30, even if you have not had childbirth.

Q. Is the model number indicated on the cup itself? A. The model number (1 or 2) is stamped on the inside rim of the cup.

Q. I am a very small framed woman, over 30, with no children. Should I still purchase the Model 2? A.

Yes, you should still purchase the Model 2. The size of a women’s body does not affect the size of a vaginal canal. Many of our customers that are over 30, with no children are very small framed and use Model 2.

Physically, The DivaCup is suitable for women of all ages as the vagina is just made up of very flexible tissue and muscles. Women's bodies are designed this way to be able to stretch to deliver a baby. After being stretched after intercourse or childbirth the tissue returns back to its normal size.

There is not a big difference between the two sizes (Model 1 is 1/8" (~0.3 cm) smaller), but it is important to use the recommended sizing to prevent leakage.

We recommend Model 2 if you are 30 years old or older because as we age, our hips naturally widen and the vaginal muscles lose elasticity. Since it is the vaginal muscles which hold The DivaCup in place, it is important to use Model 2 if you are over 30, even if you have not had childbirth.

In order to get the best results it is very important to insert it correctly. Make sure that you aim it horizontally towards your tailbone and that you are able to make one full rotation. Please review the User Guide for more tips on insertion and sizing when you get your DivaCup.

Q. What is the difference between the two sizes? A. There is only 1/8 inch difference in diameter between the two sizes.

Q. What about women under 30 years of age who have had a miscarriage but no childbirth? A. For a miscarriage it depends on which trimester it occurred. It is best you consult your physician.

Note: there is only a 1/8 inch (~0.3 cm) difference between Model 1 and Model 2.

Cleaning and Care
Q. Is The DivaCup sanitary? A.

Yes, when used as directed, The DivaCup is more sanitary than tampons or pads.

The DivaCup is made from top quality, healthcare grade silicone, which is 100% latex-free, plastic-free, BPA-free and odorless. It is non-absorbent and does not disrupt one’s natural vaginal environment.

The vagina is self-cleansing and continually producing fluid that “flushes” the vagina. Tampons (rayon and cotton) absorb this protective fluid and can disrupt the normal acidic vaginal environment.

Remember to wash and rinse your hands before inserting and removing your DivaCup. Wash your DivaCup well with The DivaWash or a low or balanced pH, unscented soap and warm water at least twice a day. The best cleaning agent to use is The DivaWash. We have formulated it to be pH balanced at 5.5, which is best for the cup and you, as it does not leave residue. Also, it should be boiled for five to ten (5 -10) minutes at the end of each cycle. Please review the Cleaning and Caring category in the FAQs for boiling instructions.

Q. How do I clean The DivaCup? A.

The DivaCup should always be thoroughly cleaned. Washing the cup in mild soap and warm water provides sufficient cleansing. The best cleaning agent to use is The DivaWash. We have formulated it as a pH balanced wash that is best for the cup and you, because it does not leave residue. Remember to wash your hands before inserting and removing your DivaCup.

The DivaCup’s top quality, healthcare grade silicone can tolerate high temperatures. At the end of each cycle The DivaCup should be washed and rinsed as specified and may be boiled by submerging in an open pan of boiling water (continuous rolling boil) for five to ten (5-10) minutes. Do not leave the boiling pot unattended and use enough water so that the pan does not boil dry.

I think you make a great point about the resources that these countries lack and the level of maintenance this product requires for proper hygiene. For this product to actually be helping these women, they need to be able to properly clean it. Without excess water, and often without clean water, these women would be unable to clean their cups, let alone keep their parts safe and healthy. I feel like someone should do something about this and am thinking I might talk with my school's feminist organization about making something happen!

I read what it takes to keep them clean and my thoughts went back to when I lived in the PI. The water had to be boiled to drink. This is a problem in places and when the weather got rotten as it did for an entire month while I lived there this would have been a real problem. Water was flooding everywhere and no way to get fuel to cook with much less drink or clean something like this, and I can only imagine what it would be like in 3rd world countries.

It is weird that so many people are creeped out by their own bodily functions, this seems like it could be a great idea, as long as the woman is not afraid of touching her self. I think it sounds like an interesting concept. As you are reasearching female products on the market take a look at the Go Girl ... it is a "camping tool for women. :)

I am, I am woman!  It has been a difficult week!

I love my cloth pads, my sea sponges, and my Diva cup almost as much as I cherish my body and all of its miraculous functions and abilities.
