Doing Da Butt : The Bible Agrees
I read anything and every thing I can find about the Bible and had never really considered this question.
Is anal sex a violation of Biblical/ God's rules?
My personal answer is, no. Sodomy in the Bible refers to non-specific sexual sin. I do not recall ANYWHERE in the Bible where anal sex is distinctly forbidden. Some might try to say that well it forbids homosexuality therefore..........BIG leap. I am willing to bet there are more straight people that practice anal sex than there are gay people who do. Why? Well there are more straight people than gay, almost all men want do a girl in the butt, and not all gay men have anal sex. It is not a homosexual construct.
In this article(sited below) It further goes on to say that people when interpreting the bible falsely assume that anal sex would be considered dirty by God considering he made us, including the system we use to poop with. By this logic we should not use the penis to have sex with because men pee out of it. I assure you it is quite easy to have anal sex with out it being messy.
I do not believe that sex was ever intended by God, just for procreation if so there are a lot of you fifty somethings that need to quit it and Viagra for you is a sin!
I am really interested in hearing what you non-anal sexers have to say about this.

Interesting blog, but I doubt many Christians will contest what you're saying - not even the more conservative ones. I think the current culture war (the one involving homosexuality) has pretty much buried the debate on "appropriate" sex in a heterosexual relationship. Still, you raise a good point, what exactly is "sodomy"? My Webster's defines it as "unusual sexual intercourse", wtf?! So I guess, given that definition, there may be a few ultra-cons out there who believe that any non-vaginal intercourse is sodomy. Still, for those who are okay with oral and anal sex, where is the line? What exactly constitutes "unusual"? Is it okay if my wife hogties me from the ceiling, performs anal sex on me with a strap-on, and slaps my junk around while watching Hannity?... Aaaanyway, another interesting point to be made in all this is the idea that many Christian girls seem to think that giving up their "black cherry" is a virginity "loophole" (pardon the expression, couldn't resist XD). "Some guy trying to talk women into premarital sex that was "not sex"." It's more likely than you think... Okay, so that article isn't mainly about anal sex, but it was the best one I could find regarding the increase in teens performing anal sex as a way to maintain their "virginity". BTW. I will say I doubt many conservative Christians practice anal sex, and I have to wonder if many are aware of the reasons that anal sex is appealing. |
I know several reasons why anal sex is a appealing psychologically...however you are very wrong about doubting if conservative Christians practice it. I know from experience most do. |
Wouldn't that mean you're kind of preaching to the choir here? :P Psychologically appealing? I was actually thinking it was more a physiological thing, but of course I'm a guy, so I'm more inclined to either find certain other acts more psychological or just not take that element into account at all. |
Long time since I came to "Blogster". No Holly, there is no "Biblical reference against sodomy". Except where a man raped a man or something. Actually, there isn't "one single" reference about how a "committed couple' should have sex. I studied the Bible 8 years or so.. Someone says different, direct them to me. I am "coincutter on Greasy.com". I won't be posting here. |
Actually the word sodomy is NOT in the bible at all. There are no references to anal sex either. Arguable there are references to homosexuality and the two are not the same thing. |
Different anon here (from earlier reply in blog, about conservatives and such), I would guess any negative implications associated with acts of so-called "sodomy" are probably more associated with the Biblical city of Sodom than with homosexuality. Granted it seems strongly implied that gay sex was one of the "sinful acts" that took place there, but there's also some implication that other things were going on that fall under the blanket term "sexual debauchery". Pedophilia, orgies, watersports, scat, and possibly bondage (disclaimer: acts are listed in likelihood given the time period, also I'm in no way attempting to lump all these acts together as equal/comparable - obviously certain acts are illegal for a reason), who really knows what possible things to which those passages are referring. So I guess some people feel they're just playing it safe by only doing it in the vaj. I guess a very Catholic reasoning for not practicing anal sex could be that, as you mentioned, it's not a procreative act, which is believed to be sinful based on the story of Onan in Genesis. I would argue by that logic that eunuchs or men without sperm or women without eggs would therefore also be prohibited from having sex, since the act would have no possibility of producing a child, but then again the verse specifically states "spilling it [his seed] on the ground" so, if there is no seed to be spilled, one could technically argue the act is not sinful. Dilemmas, dilemmas - it's these things that make me glad I'm an infidel. XD |
