19th Century Man Robert Lewis Dabney Had Something to Say about Financial Speculation

Recently I have wondered whether all financial speculation (for instance, life insurance policies & issuers of life insurance polices such as New York Life) is not naturally immoral. I just knew I had got that idea from one or more 19th century christiany-type person.
