More Hummingbird

Here are some more photos of the hummingbird.

He came up to the feeder when I was trying to photograph birds on the birdseed bell.

Then he seemed to turn and pose for me.

His close-up cropped from the previous photo. What an amazing little face.

He stayed around for a bit and went back to feeding, then flew off. These little guys are so fun to watch and this one was fun to photograph because he stayed so very still.

Wow, amazing. I love my hummers. Mine are gone for the winter, but I can't wait for them to come back. Mine are not this colorful though, but they are still beautiful.

So glad you liked the photos. They are such cool little birds and great fun to watch. We have some stay all year, others just pass through in the spring and fall on their way to where ever it is they go. Thanks for stopping in and for your nice comment. Have a wonderful night

I think he liked being photographed. Poser!! Great photos as usual.

LOL, I think he did too. He just kept hanging out there and even turned to the camera. :) Thanks for your comment and visit. have a wonderful night

My goodness I sure hope you do some Calendars of this years photos. {#apploud.gif}

A calendar is a great idea! I'd buy one or two!

Love your work!

:) I made on on lulu but I don't like the way the quail turned out. It is open for sale but lulu is expensive, you can see it at this link My Calendar http://stores.lulu.com/antilocapridae

thanks for stopping in and for your comment. I would love to find a way to offer some kind of print on demand site that was way more reasonably price that would offer sales to the public, if you know of one let me know. Have a great night.

I would love to but need to find a site that has better prices, lulu is way too expensive for others to purchase. Thanks so much for your visit and nice comment. Have a great night.

Checked out the calander. Wow, it is really nice. Did you take all the pictures? I know I saw most of them. I love the bat at the hummer feeder.

Yes I did take the photos, in the final printed calender the quail (January) turned out with some kind of weird red pattern in it and in his eye. I don't know why because the photo is not that way. The bats at the feeder are cool. I did a post on it and the night US fish and wildlife came out. I put links to it on my about or home page. Thanks so much for your comment.

Wow, more beautiful birds! I just love looking at them! Keep them comming!!

So glad you are enjoying the birds. They are so fun to watch and such beautiful creatures. Thanks for stopping in to visit and for your nice comment. Have a great night

Those are some of the best pics I've ever seen of hummers. You are so very talented and fortunate to be able to zoom in like that to get a close up.

Thank you very much. So glad you enjoyed them. I was lucky he came up next to me while I was trying to get the photo of the cardinal, he was good to just hang out there for me as well. Thanks for your visit and comment. Have a great night

This is truly beautiful margaret! i've never seen one in my life. Thank you for posting this.

Thank you, so glad you enjoyed it. You have never seen a hummingbird? We have a little feeder actually several, filled with sugar water (the same feeders the bats came to) anyway, the hummingbirds stop by and drink from the feeders. It is so fun to watch. I do hope you get to see some in real life, they are cool to watch. Thanks for your visit and comment. Have a wonderful day

we don't have them here. in fact nobody puts feeders for birds in my place. the only person i know who actually feeds the birds [and not feeds ON the birds] is my mom. every day she gathers a handful of rice and scatters it on the yard. The birds would then swoop down and start pecking. In fact she's been doing it for 4 years now such that her house is the only place in the street where birds literally congegrate to eat. i have tried to take pics but they wont go down until we leave the yard. when they do, they bring the baby birds with them [the ones that keep their mouth open hoping for an adult to feed them].

How cute they are... If I were a bird often eaten, I think I would wait until those that I thought might eat me went away before I landed. :) Today I looked up hummingbirds and I guess they are just in the Americas, north and south.

Hummingbirds are found natively in the Americas, from southern Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, including the Caribbean. The majority of species occur in tropical and subtropical Central and South America, but several species also breed in temperate areas. Most hummingbirds of the U.S. and Canada migrate south in fall to spend the winter in northern Mexico or Central America. A few southern South American species also move to the tropics in the southern winter. There are between 325 and 340 species of hummingbird.

how close are you to the Mayon volcano in the Philippine town of Legazpi

Very far. However I went there last year for a training we gave to educators regarding video and animation. They in turn, showed us the devastating effects and path of the lava. It was tragic.

This will indeed be a dark and difficult Christmas to all of them.

Wow, that would be very scary. At least they have some warning but it is not like you can stop lava. It will destroy everything in its path.

It will. In fact one of the educators lost his house last year. He was able to save his mother. He convinced her to leave the house...an hour later, the entire house was swept away by the pyroclastic mud and rocks that were 3 storeys high. When we went there last year, the entire village and roadside was burnt black. you could see how the lava created its own path of destruction. I was too shocked to even take pics.

Wow, how awful.

What an adorable little bird! Beautiful pictures!

He was nice to stay still for his photos to be taken. They are pretty fast little guys at times. Thanks for dropping in and for your wonderful complement. So glad you enjoyed him. Have a great day

Beautiful photos!

Thank you so glad you enjoyed them.
