We figured out a way to take a tiny video of the bats at the feeder using a flash light. We are not going to win any prizes with this video but it will show you how darn fast the little guys are.

I got this still shot too. Bat season is almost over, soon they will be on their way. It has been great fun watching them this year. The bat study post will come.... really it will. I just need to get it organized. Thanks for waiting.

Too cool!

Thanks Trace glad you enjoyed it. It is too cool to see them in real life. They are so fast. Amazing little creatures. I finally did the post on the wildlife guys coming out here http://www.blogster.com/margar3t/bat-night-with-us-fish-and-wildlife as always I took way too many photos.:) Thanks for your visit and comment. Have a great day.

In this age of digital memory chips, there's no such thing as too many photos. :D

This is great! We've got a bat house attached to the side of our barn, and we get to watch the little guys at dusk as they go about collecting supper. The state of CT has lost about 70% of its bat population this year though due to a fungus of some sort that is killing them off.

So glad you enjoyed it. I finally got the post done on the US fish and wildlife people coming out to trap some bats for a study if you want to stop by and see it... I of course took too many photos.:) That white-nose syndrome thing is pretty scary, bats eat tons of insects so losing so many bats is really not a good thing at all. I hope science figures out what is causing it and finds a way to prevent it. Thanks for checking out my bats and for your comment. Have a great day.

Finally some video to go with that. That was really cool to watch!

:) Yes, why did I not think of the flashlight in the first place. I am glad to share the bats with you. I finally did the post on when the fish and wildlife guys came out. Thanks so much for stopping by and for your comment. Have a great day

A month ago a small bat landed on my knee one night - I was outside with my dog and was standing 3 feet away from the humming bird feeder - it was so exciting. I had great experiences this year with the humming bird feeder.

How very cool. I have had the best time watching these little guys come to the feeder each night. They are very cool little creatures. If you want to see the bat study post about when the fish and wildlife guys came out I finally got it posted here http://www.blogster.com/margar3t/bat-night-with-us-fish-and-wildlife Thanks so much for your visit and comment. Glad to know someone else is having fun with bats too. Have a great day.

If I was batman,  I'd stay away from you.

LOL, Thanks for checking out the movie and for your comment. Have a great day!

wow, that is super cool! We have bats here too. Some are pretty large. I can hear them doing their radar thing in the evenings and you can see them once in a while too, but they are fast and it's only for a moment.

Bats are quick. These nectar feeding bats are only here this time of year. They migrate. They are too cool to watch. We have insect eating bats all year, but I only see them every so often flying overhead. I did one time see tons of them coming out from under a bridge, they must live under there. The wildlife guys said the nectar bats don't live under bridges, just in caves and old mine shafts. Thanks for watching the movie and for your comment. Have a great day

Meg, this is really {#glitter.gif}{#glitter.gif}{#glitter.gif}

:) So glad you enjoyed them. They are such fun to watch. Thanks so much for stopping in and for you wonderful comment. Have a great day

Wow! Awesome video! I'm not sure who is faster now, hummers or bats! lol

I love that still shot too! Great job!

LOL, Hummers linger longer, bats are gone in a flash. They are amazing little creatures. Thanks for your comment and for stopping by. have a good one

Absolutely unbelievable!!!  I have an even greater appreciation for your excellent still shots of the bats at the feeder.

Thanks so much. There are just wonderful to watch. I can hardly wait until late next summer to see them at the feeders again. It was so cool. This year US fish and wild life came out and trapped some, I am on the list for next year, if they have time. I did a post on the process here http://www.blogster.com/margar3t/bat-night-with-us-fish-and-wildlife it was so very cool to see the little bats so close up. I hope they come back next year to study them again. Thanks for your comment and appreciation of the photos. Have a great night

wow, great photograpy work! They look so cute the two of them together trying to feed. They look more like there attacking it than eating it.

Thanks, I can hardly wait until the end of the summer when they come back by here. Thanks for your nice comment. Have  a great day
