Coyote

The other morning while sitting at the table we looked out the window to see Mr. Coyote. He came walking out of the brush on the left.

Started up the driveway. He seemed to be looking up at us, looking at him through the window but... actually I think he was eyeing the quail milling around the finch feeder.

Either the quail took off or he decided going close to the house was a bad idea.
He spent some time sniffing around the driveway.

Then took off... We are not sure how he got in because the gait is closed but I think he just jumped the fence.

After he walked off we didn't see him again. I think he walked across the property and jumped the fence because we could hear dogs barking down the street.

It was a cool site and as you can see Mr. Coyote looks pretty well fed.

Seeing these pics have put me closer to a coyote than I've ever been.  Except for some rare, brief glances of coyotes at a distance or off by the side of the road, I can't say that I've ever seen one any closer than in your pics and never really looked at one so head on and in the eyes before.  These really are great photos.

donnamg, it was so cool to see the coyote, I seldom see one so close. The photos were taken through our dinning room window, so they are not that clear but it was a rare sight indeed. I am so glad you enjoyed seeing them. Thanks for your wonderful comment and for stopping by.

suddenly, i thought of wile e. coyote and tempted to ask where roadrunner might be. anyway, nice shots.

The closest I can come to answer your question is my post...

It is from the day a roadrunner visited the house. :)

Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a great day!

Well, I think they are DARN clear!  I couldn't imagine me getting such close and clear full shots like that!

Thanks donnamg, I would not want to get any closer but had I taken the photo not through the window glass it would have been a bit crisper. Still not bad for what it is. Have a great day.

That is unusual indeed, we hear them but rarely do we get a close look. These are great shots.

Thanks anacoana, I saw one this morning too, on the road, not nearly as close as this one. It may have been the same one. We don't see them too often so it was quite a shock to see him coming up the drive. He looks really healthy and well fed. Had we not been sitting at the kitchen table we would have missed him and lucky for me my camera was sitting there too. We hear them often at night. Have a great day.

wow, I have never seen a wild coyote before! Is this rare or do you live somewhere where you see them often? By the way, I would have never known that you took the pictures from your window. They look clear, you must have a good camera! Or a clean window!

We see them now and again, mostly in the early morning. They pretty much avoid people, so if I had tried to go outside he would have run off for sure. Thanks, the window was cleaned for Thanksgiving. :) The camera is my new canon SD790 elph, it has 3x optical zoom plus a digital zoom.

We have a coyote that lives in out neighborhood.  Mind you we live in a small town but in the hear of it and he lives in it just like a stray dog and has never ever hurt any of our pets.  I think wildlife and people can learn harmony.

I agree mmmhollywould, though people have told me their pets have been taken by coyotes, I am not too worried about it because there are so many birds and rabbits around I think the coyotes are pretty well fed here. I did once hear of a coyote years ago with a white cat in his mouth... the cat escaped due to people screaming and scaring the beejebers out of the coyote. The cat ran up a tree and stayed up there for 3 days. It was fine and finally went home.

If you want to see a cool coyote blog check out this one.
DailyCoyoteBlog it is awesome and the photos are amazing.

He was cute! How amazing to have all these amazing creatures visit your home!

We seem them walking around the neighborhood mostly in the morning. Sometimes they come up into the yard and sniff around. In the colder months they look beautiful with their winter coats on... in the hotter months they look kind of straggly. Still awesome to see. Glad you enjoyed him.

I really did thank you very much:-)
