Have you ever eaten at Jake's?

You mean, where in the heaven-on-Earth is Jake's? There are several Jake's locations- mine is in Elkton, MD. Visit our website: www.waybackburgers.com

Actually we have 2 in Florida- 1 in Lutz and 1 in Tampa...and they're doing very well. You should visit one, I'm sure you'd love it. The food is amazing and our staff is very friendly and efficient. But honestly, that's not why I'm on this page- I'm not here to sell you anything; I just want people's opinions on what would make our store better. Tell me, what kinds of things interest you? What would compel you to visit our store? Hypothetically?

Helps if you give people some information--though from your avatar this post looks like SPAM!

Really? Trust me, the avatar is actually one of our logo decals on the front window of our store. Thanks for the tip though. I'm new to this whole "blogging" thing. What type of avatar would you suggest?  Also, we're on Facebook , Twitter and the Web .

Having been a waiter for 38 years I suggest you talk to your customers--talking about Jake's here will only turn the bloggers off--go more general--ask questions about what do you expect from a burger place? Why do you go back to certain places? Etc.  All you are doing here--especially with mentioning twitter, etc.,--is spamming.

Is it a sit down restaurant with servers or a fast food like place? What do people want on their burgers? What kind of beef do you use? There's a lot to talk about when it comes to restaurants so get away from what seems like hard sell.

Do you want  hints about how to be a better manager? To serve customers better? Then blog about that!

Sounds delicious.......but nobody here knows who/where you are.  More info please, or you'll be reported for spamming.  This site does not allow commercial promotion of businesses.

Believe me, our food IS delicious. This is not spam or an attempt at promoting my store. Basically my goal is to meet people and learn what people enjoy and do not enjoy so that I can serve them better. The only way to succeed in business is to discover the desires of your clients and exceed them. I'm a new Store Manager and a very hardworking person just interested in bettering myself and my store. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions you have for me. {#smiley-smile.gif}

It sounds like you're enthusiastic about your company, and that's a good thing.  You're also trying to find new ways to promote your business, that also is a good thing.  But you cannot directly promote your business here--it's against blogster rules.

Martin had some good advice.  Change your avatar.  Make your posts more general--not just about the attributes of Jakes.  Maybe articles about the restaurant business in general, that kind of thing.

Blogger.com does allow commercial promotion.  You also might want to consider making web pages at squidoo.com and hubpages.com for promoting your business.  There are also many other blogging platforms that do allow business promotion.

Aw, thanks. :) I didn't think I was doing anything wrong and I certainly don't want to break any rules here. Thank you so much for your tips. And after I get the hang of these kinds of sites, I'll try the ones you suggested. For now, this is exactly the type of feedback I'm looking for.

PS How about a picture of a hamburger and shake as you avatar not the place's name--sure mention it once in awhile but don't push it--trust me--I live in South Florida--I am not coming up to Jake's in Maryland so make the avatar and blog more general.

Uhhh....WHY? Jake's blog...Jake's avatar. I don't see that he/they should tailor the blog to please you, or me, or anyone else. Leave it be.

Oops. Correction. HER blog. Sorry Rebeca.

{#basic-laugh.gif} Thanks

Also, thanks for your input on the avatar- I think maybe I'll take everyone's advice: I'll leave it for now and change it every week or so, using something more general. But you're right, this is a Jake's blog, so I don't want it to be too personal.

Basically his first post is spam--against blogger's rules--just trying, in a nice way, to help him blog--and I didn't/don't care if he 'pleases' me--but I think he would like new readers and he expressed why he was here--to help being a better manager--sorry if I offended you

HER first post was not spam it was a POLL.  A poll by very definition is not spam because it requires you to be a user to access it and it was written so HER customers could come here to express their opinion.  It is kinda hard to sell a fast food burger in Maryland to a guy in Florida or a girl in the Philippines.

There is a huge difference between spamming and this.  I am glad to have you here!  Please add me to your twitter and face book as well! Also I do intend to travel through Maryland so thanks for the heads up since my significant other is a burger connoisseur!  We have eaten burgers all over the United States!

Awesome! I just saw your name on my Twitter page- I'll add you today! And send me a message when you come to Maryland!

Sadly it probably will not be until the spring :(

I'm moving to the Virginia beach area soon, so a trip to Maryland would be a nice weekend jaunt.  I'll be sure to stop by and sample your burgers and shakes, though I have to admit the watermelon flavor doesn't sound too appealing.

The Orange Creme and Black Raspberry sound good though!  How about a Raspberry Creme?  (And if you use this idea I expect a free sample, lol.)

Pay no attention to those who tell you how to run your blog.  This is your space, and they are free to NOT visit it if they don't like the contents.

Here's to burgers and shakes!

LoL, funny that one of those complaining the loudest here post restaurant reviews on a regular basis!  I suppose that could be considered spam too...

no problem, we'll still be here :)
