Just wondering where you think we can go to get just plain news, no slants, no bias, just the facts.

None!

ILC,Looks like the closet case is back making the idiotic comments! LOL

how kind of you :-) have a great evening joey ^..^

Yup..he can't stay away from us, huh?

ILC, can't wait for the illuminating "That's interesting" LOL

Joey - You're kidding, right?   What person with any semblance of a life be proud to be the #1 commenter on a website that maybe 100 people write and comment on? LOL. But I'm sure you'll be right up there again soon, no matter how many useless one word comments you feel the need to make on posts of people you don't even know. LOL...now THAT's SAD. Have fun and a great day!

oh ok...  wink wink!!

That is funny--doesn't know who he is--bet he doesn't know who neil is--seems like the old closet case has lost his memory!{#rofl.gif} {#rofl.gif} {#rofl.gif} {#rofl.gif}

If you look deep inside...it's there. I've seen it but not nearly enough for some reason.

Why are you so offensive towards women? I said nothing to you to deserve such a nasty comment and such lack of respect. Please stay away from my page.

The notification was in MY box Joey. Why be disrespectful of anyone??

NPR ny far

I picked "Other - Explain" because you didn't have an option for "none of the above"  I don't think there is such a thing as unbiased news.  I watch both Fox News and MSNBC which gives two totally different perspectives on the news.  It proves to me just how petty and stupid both sides can be.

The Republicans seem to be "stuck on stupid" this week.  Chastising the President for the black tour bus he used.  The secret service purchased two of those buses with the other one to be used by the nominated Republican candidate.  What will they say then?  Oh its awful, these buses were made in Canada.  Shame on you Obama.  Let's see, the government buys buses from this Canadian company for past Presidents as well.  Duh!!!!  Then there's all the comotion by Republicans because Obama is taking a vacation.  You know, like a lot of families do before their kids go back to school.  Even Rick Perry says he gets to take a vacation.  Granted, he should have a plan to get job growth going now and not in September.  Besides, whatever Obama comes up with will be soundly rejected by the Congress.

I simply don't watch much news these days unless a) it's just my local area news or b) someone has told me about a story I want to know more about so I listen. I'm also not sure that you can find any true news source. If I do listen, it's usually CNN because at least it seems to me they try a teeny bit harder at times to not embellish or, when it comes to politics, have someone representing both sides.

I hadn't heard about the "bus" thing. Why complain about a bus made in Canada when every huge company in the USA ships jobs out of our country and almost every thing we have in our homes was made in Communist China. It makes me sick every time I see that label. But I understand, it's Obama, so of course the right complains....it's weak on my ears though.

Vacations - The President....Congress...go, go, go...and stay on vacation. They can continue the damage if they are on vacation at our expense. All the candidates can go and stay as well.

What do you think about CNN's news?

I agree with you about CNN.  They seem to be somewhere in the middle between Fox News and MSNBC.  I get some entertainment value out of watching Fox News and MSNBC blast each other.

If I just watched Fox News, I never would have known that the Iowa Straw Poll is nothing more than a political fund raisier for the local Republican Party in Iowa.  You have to pay $30 to vote in the poll.  Bachmann's campaign bought 6000 tickets at $30 each and won the poll getting over 4000 votes so a lot of people who got that $30 ticket didn't vote for Bachmann.  At the fairgrounds each campaign had to pay for space.  The better the spot, the more it costs just like at an exposition. Let's see, who had the best spot.  That would be Ron Paul who came in second.  The proceeds go to the local Republican Party.

Well see what I missed. I didn't even know that. Bachmann is going to do herself in. It seems every time she opens her mouth people who support her hold their breath that she isn't going to say something..umm...dumb.

I agree with you especially now that Perry is the race as a Tea Party representative.  Bachmann just keeps making on blunder after another.  I kind of thought Bachmann was smarter that Palin but that seems to be up for grabs.  I think it will be between Romney, Perry and Paul unless others get into the race like Paul Ryan.

MSNCBC and FOX NEWS are definitel out the piture. I would say CNN because they seem pretty unbiased. But if you want REAL REAL news, you should probably hear non-profited radio. They aren't ontrolled by the media, just their independent organiztion.

CNN is what I watch IF I watch news, which isn't too often. I do some reading online...not so much on TV. Sometimes, out of curiosity, like after the President speaks, or when BinLaden was killed, etc. I love to turn on Fox just to see how they attempt to spin it so the President looks as badly as possible ...LOL

I know, Fox is such a cult. I don't root for MSNBC because they're extreme in thier liberalism, and FOX NEWS is too down-right conservative. I always, like you try to stay in the regime of unbiased newscasting. It hard not trying to tilt to a side, but reporting should be JUST reporting.

It's more entertainment than news these days.

You want to know the REAL sources of for newscasting?

THE VIEW. dun. dun. dun.

Nah, I'm kidding. Might as well turn to TMZ if that was the case {#basic-mouth-shut.gif}

at least when TMZ reports something, you can pretty much count on it being true. i recall the day michael jackson died, they jumped on it, had sources that knew what they were talking about. all the other stations and organizations were scared to death to report it until they knew and TMZ had it on point an hour or two before anyone else would dare to report the "news." I check out their web page about twice a month. Too much time on my hands sometimes ^..^

When I watch the news at night, I watch FOX NEWS, because they are fair and balanced. MSNBC have very stupid people on their programs. One side is all you hear. I flip over to CNN once in a while to find out who their putting down and telling lies on. To each his own, I guess. lol.

You don't think Fox leans towards the right in their reporting? Nothing wrong with watching a newscast that leans towards your way of thinking, but I'm looking for one that doesn't lean in any direction and simply reports the news.  :-)  I'm not sure there is one though.  lol

I listen to Fox most of the time. I will have to admit, that CNN has gotten a little better with their news, lately. I listen to the the ones running for president mostly and Obama, and it really is hard to trust any of them. I don't know if any of them will do what they say.I feel Obama has really let us down. I don't think any of them can do what they promise us they are going to do if they get elected. I don't know one that I can say, I would vote for as I see it, right now. lol.

Hate to say it, but none of the do what they say :-(  I think most of us know that by now. I think they are talking to the people who don't follow politics much and will vote based on a sound bite.

I agree Mary, I don't let the net works decide for me, who I will vote for either. I pay close attention to what the politicians and candidates are saying and I dicide on my own. All I know now, we are in a mess and I don't know how we are going to come out of it any time soon.

Internet!!!  So many more options/points of view.

So true. I stopped watching most news on TV except local news so long ago. Lots of good places online to read and balance it out in your mind.

I only watch local news, at best.. the rest I do not trust.  It is just a version of a version, of another version.

{#heart.gif}

The daily show IS a choice!! Agree with you about cspan. While it's not quite the same as watching 6pm news, you always learn when you watch.

poor thang....get some SLEEP! on nights when i don't have to go in to work the next morning, i've been tending to stay up WAY too late...because i always wake up with the sun no matter what time i sleep. but i try to get 45-60 minute power nap each afternoon around 2....then i shower which wakes me and i'm ready for another late night!

I picked "Other" because I don't think any single news source can be completely unbiased so I look for different POVs and watch several stations.

True...I guess I mostly surf online for news...if something big happens, especially political, i watch CNN although sometimes I hit FOX because I love to hear how they are going to cover it. Like when bin laden was killed...it was fun to see how they tried to give credit to anyone except the president!  lol

There is no such thing as an unbiased news report. Reporters select the facts that seem important to them, through the lens of their trained but still biased viewpoint. Film is cut, edited -- and who chose was to film to begin with? No matter how hard a journalist tries, and I believe that many sincerely do try -- there will always be a bias. The question is perhaps, which news source provides the closest view of reality. I liked what dphilip had to say ... no single news source can be unbiased. So I, too, read widely varying opinions, even those that annoy me to the point of screaming at the TV (yes, that's idiotic), just to understand some of the perspectives involved. Of course, once in a while, a story is just black and white. Once in a thousand years. Good question, interesting answers. My first night on this blogster and I'm glad I stumbled upon your quiz.

Oh, but I enjoy the Daily Show the most. Of course.

Thanks! And welcome to Blogster. I mixed up posts on my blog..some politicial, some personal, some funnies, just whatever is crossing my mind at the time. Please feel free to hit the subscribe button (top left) on this page and you'll be notified when I post something. I'll do the same and look forward to reading you. It's a fun site..like a small town, with all kinds of people, both those you'll agree and disagree with....and some you'll like and some you won't.

Agree with your view on this topic. If one has no common sense, they believe whatever they are told on their preferred station and that's so sad. There's a LOT of this type of people across our country. But if you have a little common sense, you'll pick and choose from what you hear and you'll know where the BS is  ;-)  Have a good one  ^..^
