Viable GOP Candidates Waiting Until 2016??? Really?

I'll never forget hearing almost as soon as Obama was elected in 2008 that the Republicans of this country "wanted him to fail." It's been pretty obvious that he seems to be the most despised Democratic President we've ever had in the eyes of the GOP.

So as time went by....and it appears that, in the opinion of the GOP, this President could do no right...and I mean NO RIGHT...I figured that he'd be a one-term President. I felt sure that when 2012 election rolled around, there would be a line-up of some ass kicking, upright outSTANDING candidates battling one another to take our current President down.

I haven't been particularly impressed with the GOP contenders, and I've actually heard the same from many Republicans.

I'm a little confused now. It appears the Romney & Cain are the two front runners, and with the news today that Cain (or the NRA), when he was head of the National Restaurant Association, had to pay off, with 5-figure separation packages) a few women for "inappropriate behavior" on his (Cain's)  part, it seems he's going to be sidetracked with this issue hanging over his head. I'm not sure where that leaves him now. So it's beginning to look like Romney a devout Mormon, will most likely be THE one that the GOP will set forth to unseat President Obama. Really???

I was surprised when, somewhere on Blogster this week, someone told me that the "really good serious" candidates who want to sit at President one day are waiting until 2016 when the job is completely up for grabs by both parties.  I had never heard this before and was shocked that, if the GOP truely believes that Obama has been ruining this country from day #1, why in the hell don't we have a more substantial lineup of contenders THIS time around. Do they want another four years of Obama IF they truely believe he is the scum of the earth and devil in deguise as they've been saying all this time? Or is it that this current lineup of candidates IS the best the GOP has to offer?

What's your take on this? Who do you think will end up facing President Obama after the primaries are fought out?  Does the right feel this is the best they have to offer? Or do they honestly feel Obama can't be beat, so waiting until 2012 makes more sense to them by saving their shot at the Oval Office for four more years? Another thought was that whoever wins the primary picks a kickass VP running mate not presently in the lineup that might set fire to his campain...like when McCain picked Palin.

Just wondering??

You know Nota...true or not....this sh*t stinks and will stay in the back of SOME people's minds no matter what he says. This is the kind of politics I despise. Just think how nasty it's gonna be by this time next year. By the way, who is your front runner so far?

Cain needs to ignore the subject, you don't get rid of a stink by stirring it up.

Cain might need to ignore it, Women don't.

The ONLY honest one as far as I can see...Bachmann

When a former U.S. IRS tax attorney looks the "most honest"....You know you are in a pickle...

{#congrats.gif}

Take down the IRS...That would fix the deficit, killing the revenue stream. Of course, empty promise, she nor any other Republican would dare dream any such as that. They only care about reducing spending when they are not the ones spending, if they are in full power then it's "Well talk about that during the next guy's presidency...pay for it then too!"

{#violet_wink.gif}

Actually the IRS NEEDS to go byebye. They are inefficient and not cost effective.

It's funny how they are calling it racist after all the things that have been said about President Obama, his wife, his children, and how they'll have to fumigate and remodel the White House when they leave.

@BW - LOL @ US IRS Tax attorney looking like the best pick!!

NOTA - I think we've learned not to believe ANYTHING that any politician says while campaigning. They are all empty promises. That pretty much goes for both sides too.

I am not sure they all are but I DO think they learn pretty quickly in Washington that "city hall" is full of liars and thieves and hard to fight even if YOU are honest.

It is sad...I LIKE Cain but I don't TRUST Cain.

The ONLY way I would serve is if everyone else was in a permanent coma there!

LOL...I think that's why a lot of really good people never run...like Colin Powell..big business buys and pays for politicians and you have to be crooked to some point just to "play the game."  I wish we had really short term limits on congress so maybe we'd get some good people who really made a difference in a short time. And screw all that health care for life and those retirement programs that ten families could live off of for a year.

Colin Powell IS big business.  The "giveittoment" was NEVER meant to have what they stole. They were meant to work for a rea months and go nome to a REAL paying job.

Did you hear what was said today?

"If everone in the WORLDS' pay was taken and averaged out ANYONE in the USA making over 34,000 a year is part of the 1%...."

I wonder if that strikes a cord with people here on Blogster? Guess what? I am NOT in the 1%....far from it....I wonder how many are?

Romney or Perry, Maybe Cain, but I doubt he will keep any momentum. And yes, these are not serious candidates, they know they cannot topple Obama with what they have...And so does most of the GOP base. But considering who they are running, Obama is still clearly the better choice, and it is the independents who really decide.

What has Obama accomplished in office other than vacation & campaign? The only thing he is good at is obeying his boss, George Soros.

He took less time by more than half on vacation than Bush Senior, and less time off than Reagan. Campaigning they all do, consequence of the system, not the candidate personally. And what has he done, that list is HUGE. Here is a sample .

Better, all FP knows is how to C & P--as useless as the Republican candidates.

Hey Cats you know Republicans aren't gay or cheat on their wives or say anything inappropriate to women--and I hope Bachman's husband isn't gay--we have enough problems!!!  LOL

Do they not have anything better, or are "good" possibilities really waiting until 2016 to shoot their wad of $$$$??

LOL Martin....

@BW I love that website. Have people had blinders on the last few years to seriously ask what Obama has done? You can tell what news station they listen too. And that is seriously sad. None of the few really answered my question as to whether this is the BEST they have to offer against the person they consider the anti-Christ. I guess so...pityful.

arguing with Feral is like arguing with a pig, it's a waste of your time. How can ANYONE who reads think Obamas takes a lot of time off compared to the Bushes? It's all FOX talking points and left over Beck speak.........

CATS you actually have something here!!

Let's look at it this way....I thought Obama would be a 1 term President voluntarily....and stated so many times....so I am surprised that he is running!!

With that being said...If Romney wins then the Dems will run Hilliary in 2016 and we the GOP get our butts kicked because she will beat Romney!!

If Obama wins....then we run Jeb Bush in 2016 and we kick the Dems butt....because Hilliary will not want to follow an Obama 8 year term....and Bidden will not run because he knows he can't beat anyone.

So yes....the GOP field is weak now....but for some of the major players it may be that way on purpose!!

I'm not sure Hillary will want to run in 2016....I'm not even sure she'll go for another 4 years with Obama. I'd love if he stepped aside and let her run next year, but I guess that's a NO.

Obama won't have the support he did last time, but I think he might pull it off. That might depend upon who the GOP candidate runs at VP.

That's not even good spam!

I deleted it before i saw your comment. Now i wished I'd left it because you are soooo right!

Personally I am disappointed that the media is paying so much attention to this Cain incident. If the women want to make a case of this issue then they should step up, but not enough in the news to make this an issue at the moment. But the Republicans are a hopeless suicidal bunch at the moment. President Obama has recognized how weak they are and he is acting without them. I think he has made a smart move.

I really think that is THE BEST they have.... who else is there Cats?... they destroyed that party ... now they worshipping the tea-party ...

Sure looks like it....I'm amazed these people are their answer. It's scary.

I am not getting involved in this spin fest. There seems to be lack of facts when arguing starts. In the middle is the truth. No one Party has the answer. Only one thought before I leave. It is that Conservatives wanted Obama to fail. As I recall this was addressing socialist inspirations even not denied by Obama, if you believe his words. I do wish anything to do with Socialism to fail. It isn't how we became a leader nation. What happened to Rome during their dynasty has characteristics to what is happening to America. America is actually spreading the wealth with their capitalist society. How would money circulate if we were all socialist? China and any other socialist country is dependent on free markets. The innovation that people create through free markets and the jobs it make will go away. A story circulating the internet may not be taken seriously, but it has good meaning if you read it with an open mind.

Why socialism fails: Teacher fails entire class as example

As the late Adrian Rogers said, "you cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."

An economics professor at a local college said that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class.

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich - a great equaliser.

To counter this, the professor said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.

The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little, studied even less and those who had previously studied hard, decided they wanted a free ride. So they too studied little.

The second test average was a D!

No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Do deniers and followers only admit they failed when someone else fails in their name?

Cat, you are a friend, just one I don't agree with. It is hard to deny parental ways. Many Democrats and Republicans are that because their parents were. My parents were Independent that mostly voted Democrat. I had to ask myself if times are changing and not what they historically knew politics to be. I had to go against their long time beliefs and have my own identity just because times are changing and there are bad people in the world who like power. You need to read more on George Soros.

I don't get it, where does Obamas plan even out the incomes of people? Obama doesn't even have a plan like that or even close to it, BUT, the republicans are working thier asses off to make sure the middle class become nothing more than serfs working for the ruling class...............

Facts are Cats, they have no one to even run in 4 years thats not crazy as a loon and in my opinion all of the failed econ 101. If Obama loses then I'm pretty darn sure America as we know it is done for, just like Rome. Absolute power corrupts.

I stand amazed that this is the best they have to offer....whooopiee!!!  LOL
