How to access Blogster?

To access to Blogster you may have to register and create a Blogster account. When creating your account, you will provide accurate and complete information, and you will maintain and promptly update your account information to keep it accurate, current and complete.

You are solely responsible for the activity that occurs on your account, and you must keep your account password secure. You must notify Blogster immediately of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account. back to top

What information do users need to provide when they subscribe?

For each online subscription, the User undertakes to provide true, accurate, up-to-date and complete information on the User's identity and age, as requested in the registration form for the Services. The User undertakes, in particular, not to create a false identity that is liable to mislead Blogster or third parties and the User undertakes not to usurp the identity of another legal entity or individual. The User undertakes to immediately update the data provided at the time of the User's online subscription, in the event of any change to such data.

In the event that a User provides false, inaccurate, out-of-date, incomplete, deceitful or misleading information, Blogster may immediately and without notice or indemnity suspend or terminate the User's Personal Account and temporarily or permanently refuse the User access to all or part of the Services

Who can subscribe to Blogster?

Minors under 13 years of age are not authorized to register. However, minors over 13 years of age are authorized to register, provided that they have first obtained from their parents (or the person who exercises parental authority over them) the authorization to do so and to provide the information and e-mail addresses to which all messages for them may be sent. Registration by children over 13 means that they have obtained this prior authorization.

Blogster reserves the right to request written justification thereof at any time, and to carry out all checks, as well as to delete any Personal Account for which the minor account holder has not provided said justification immediately or within the timeframe given to said minor. Blogster shall immediately delete any Personal Account upon receipt by it of a parental request to close the Personal Account and the related Contents.

Parents and any other person who exercises parental authority are reminded that it is their responsibility to determine which Service(s) their under-age child is authorized to use and to monitor the use of said Service(s) by the child.

Manage Blog

How do I edit my profile?

Click on "Manage Blog" link at the top navigation. Select “Edit Profile”. The next page will ask personal questions like biography about you, relationships, occupation, and more. Answer only what you are comfortable having other people read about you.

To answer one of these questions click the "+" button for that question, type in the answer, then the "Save Setting" button. back to top

How do I add a picture to my profile?

Click on “Manage Blog” and select “My Photos”. If you want to add photos to your Blogster profile just click on "Upload Photos". Choose the photo you want to add to your profile, click on the link in the blue color on the right of the photo "Use as User Icon". Then, resize the photo to the size that you want it and click on “Continue”. back to top

Replacing the default avatar?

You will see default avatar in 3 different colors (blue for male, pink for female and grey for none). You can replace it with your own custom image, by clicking on “Manage Blog” and select “My Photos”.

Click on "Upload Photos". Choose the photo you want to add to your profile, click on the link in blue color on right of the photo "Use as User Icon". Then, you can resize the photo and click on “Continue”.back to top

How do I change my password?

Click on “Manage Blog” at the top and then click on “Change Password” in the left hand menu. Here you can change your password. back to top

I need my password. How do I get it?

When you type in the wrong password, it will automatically go to a section where you can have your password sent to your email address.

Can I change my username?

No, there is no way to change your username in the system. You would have to create a “new” separate account .back to top

How do I add a new blog entry?

How do I become a follower of a blog?

How do I see my follower?

How can I earn points on Blogster?

To encourage participation Blogster has a system of points. The number of points you get depends on the specific action you take. The points table below summarizes the point values for different actions. Points allow everyone to recognize how active and helpful you've been.

How do I create my profile page?

How do I add a picture on my profile?

You will see 4 small icons at the top of your pictures

Click on the picture icon with a green X. Then, you can resize/move the box to set how you avatar displays with the profile image editor.

After you resized the photo as you like, click on save. Now, the photo you selected has been uploaded as your avatar. back to top

How do I change my main profile picture (avatar)?

Is there a size limit on my profile picture?

Privacy

What are the privacy options for my profile?

Click on “Manage Blog” at the top menu, and then click on “Setting Options”. Here you can change your profile privacy options

Blogster offers three privacy levels for your profile: public, community and friends only. Public profile can be seen by any user. Community profile can be seen only by Blogster members. Friends profile can be seen only by their friends. back to top

How can I set emails notification?

How do I change the title on my blog?

Click on “Manage Blog” at the top and then see “View My Blog” in the right hand menu. Click on the pen icon at the top right of your post. Here you can change your blog title.back to top

How can I put links in my entries?

You can easily add a link to your blog entry content.

In the content area, just type a web address and click on the link editor. The web address will automatically appear in your entry as a link! You can include the http:// at the beginning of the address or leave it off, like the examples below:

To create a hyperlink, type the text you wish to link in your blog, then highlight it with your cursor and click the insert link icon . You will then be given a box to type the web address you wish to make a hyperlink to, and click Create Link.

How do I add picture on my blog post?

You may insert an image into your blog post by specifying the web address to it, or by uploading it from your computer. First, click to place the cursor in your post where you want the image to be. Then:

To insert an image by web address click on the insert image icon and choose "Specify URL". You will then be given a box to type the address of the image into, then click Insert.

To upload an image, click on the insert image icon and choose "Upload". Then you will be able to choose an image from your computer to upload, and click Insert. back to top

How do I delete comments left on my post?

How Blogster rating work?

The content rating allows users to rate content on Blogster.

Content Rating should accomplish two major goals:

  • To give users some summarized understanding of the content that they are about to access.
  • To set up a method to handle complaints about obscene and indecent articles Your rating is averaged with other users' ratings to produce an "overall" rating (or "average" rating).

For example, if a total of three users have rated a post, their ratings are added together and divided by the number of user ratings for that particular post :

User #1: 5 stars
User #2: 4 stars
User #3: 3 stars

5+4+3 = 12 stars / 3 (total # of users) = 4 stars (overall rating)

Note:
User can rate only one time each post, user.You can rate any comment left by any other user. You cannot rate your own comment.

Search & Tagging

What are tags?

You can give your posts a "tag", which is like a keyword or category label. Tags help you find people and posts which have something in common. back to top

Blogster created a list of the most popular tags. If you don’t find any tag to give to your posts, just submit your request in the “Suggestion” section. If Blogster approve your request, the new tag will appear on the list of tag. back to top

How do I add tags to my profile?

You can add tags to your profile. You'll find a link “Edit Tags” on the manage blog page. Type a search into the box and the available tags will be shown for you to click on. Tags will enable users todescribe and share interests, increasing the potential for interactions. Tags make it easier for users to find peoples, blog posts related to a subject.

If you delete a tag, it will be removed from your profile and your blog posts which may be using it! back to top

How do I add music to my Blogster site?

In order to play music on your blog, you need to find the music you want to play.  Please note that the music file MUST be hosted on another website, otherwise you will not be able to play it on Blogster.  back to top

The best place to find music online is through a web search engine, a file-sharing network, or asking your friends.  Blogster does not support music uploading and we don't host our own music, you'll have to find the music.

Is it legal to play music on my Blogster site?

Putting copyrighted music on your site without permission can get you in all kinds of problems with the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America)..

If you are playing a recording of yourself that you made at home, you're probably ok. Otherwise, one day the RIAA may try to sue you. back to top

What is a Blogster Group?

A Group is a new way for user(s)to share great content together. Groups can focus on a certain topic of interest (cooking, fitness, politics, travel, etc., ) or around a common connection, (Friends, Family, Co-workers, Reunion, etc.,) When creating a Group, users are allowed to set the groups privacy level they would like to associate with the Group.back to top

Who can join Groups?

Any Blogster member can join a Group. You can join a public Group or request to join a private Group, by clicking “Be Member” button on the Group Home page.back to top

How do I create a Group name?

Each Group name must be unique and cannot conflict with existing user names. Group names may contain letters, numbers, and underscores. Names cannot contain spaces.back to top

How do I create a Group description?

A Group description is quick paragraph summarizing your Group’s focus. You can create your group description when you create your group.back to top

How are groups administered?

When you create a group, you are automatically made its first administrator. As administrator, you can also promote members to help you run the group.back to top

A group administrator can:

Modify information about the group

* Create or change the title name
* Create or change the group description
* Create a group icon
* Accept group members
* Ban users

Determine group rules

* What kind of content can be added to the group blog
* Determine what privacy level (“public” or “ private”)
* Determine what safety level of content is appropriate for the group (“safe”, “moderate” or "restricted")

Please note that if “moderate” or “restricted” content is allowed, then the group should be 18+ and only members over the age of 18 or those who can see “moderate” or “restricted” content will be able to participate in the group.

Create group participation rules

You should be aware that once someone becomes an admin, they can never be demoted.

Blogster team won't step in and remove people from your group if someone is abusing.

How do I invite others to my Group?

If you are the administrator of a group you must send out invitations “ Be Friend” to let other users know you have created a group.back to top

What is the difference between public and private groups?

Public groups can be seen by all Blogster users. People need to be members of the group to post articles and comments on the group page.

Private groups are not seen by all Blogster users. You need to join to see their content.back to top

How do I make a public group private?

If you are an administrator, go to your Groups page and select the group privacy level.

You can make a public group private, but a private group cannot be made public.back to top

How I can go back to my blog if I’m on the group page?

How do I leave a group?

Go to your Groups page and select the group link to leave. On the left-hand side, underneath the box where you can search group members, there's a link to leave the group.back to top

How do I delete a group?

The only way to delete a group is if the administrator decide to delete the group.

If the administrator leave the group and want to name another administrator, the group don’t need to be deleted.back to top

What is IRC Chat?

Do I need to install something in order to join the chat?

You don't need to know much to join the chatroom - you can access directly from Blogster Chat page. back to top

Why do I need a username and password to get into chat?

We require all chat room users to be registered in order to use the chat room. We do this to prevent chat room spamming and nickname changing.

If you aren't registered in Blogster, you aren't allowed to use the chat room until you register. Registration is free, and only takes a second. Click here to register to Blogster, then after you activate your account you can use the chat room with the username and password you created. back to top

How I can join the chat room if I am already a Blogster user?

To join the chat simply enter your Blogster password and click Join!

Are these chat rooms safe?

Blogster does it's best to supply it's users with a safe environment for chatters. Please remember that a child's safety is the responsibility of the child's parents. Please do not give out any personal information to strangers, no matter how trustworthy they may seem.

Are there any age requirements?

This site is for general audiences but you MUST be 13 or over to participate in the chat rooms. When you enter a chat room, you agree to the age disclaimer written right below the chat room. back to top

Do you have a privacy policy?

Aside from IPs being logged to investigate violating chat users, the chat rooms do not collect any personal information and does not share any other information (from emails it receives or forum registration) to third parties. For further info, read the Privacy Policy.

Note: When you enter a chat room in Blogster, you choose as your identity will be visible to other Blogster users that are in the same room. back to top

Where can I report someone violating the age limit requirements or is attempting to exploit minors?

Although it is very difficult to verify a person’s age, we at Blogster take these violations very seriously. Please report any violators to Blogster with the “Report Abuse” button. Please provide the chat users name, the room, and time of incident. We will investigate the matter through our logs.

Can I advertise my own site in the chat rooms?

No! Those that are caught advertising will be banned from the room. back to top

A message says that I have been banned. How long does that last?

Minimum ban is for 2 days. Those can range as high as lifetime bans for more serious chat violation.

  • First offence: 2 days ban

  • Second offence: 4 days

  • Third offence: 7 days

  • Fourth offence: 2 weeks

  • Fifth offence: 3 weeks

  • Sixth offence: 1 month

  • Sevent offence: Permanent, subject to review and discussion

If you believe you have been banned without cause, please contact us

The moderator will generally tell you either before or after banned/kicking you exactly what you did to merit being banned/kicked. If not, you may ask the moderator in a polite and non-intrusive fashion. Do not argue with the moderator about whether or not what happened was fair; if you have a problem with the moderator's actions, please go on Blogster Team Profile and send a private message.

Changes in Policies

It says I don't have permission to use the chat room.

You will see a "Need to be login" message when you try to access the chat room if:

- You are a guest or aren't logged in.
- You have registered but haven't confirmed your e-mail address.
- You have been banned from the chat room.

If you are a guest, you must register before you can use the chat room. If you've registered but haven't clicked on the link in the activation e-mail sent to you, you won't be able to use the chat room either. How do I respect copyright?

Blogster allows you to upload and share user generated Content with your friends, such as photographs and videos you upload from your camera, webcam or mobile phone. This means that you may post and share original photographs and video that are of a personal nature that: (i) are of you or your friends, (ii) are taken by you or your friends (iii) are original art or animation created by you or your friends or (iv) are from video sharing site like YouTube.com. It is not intended as a place for you to post third-party copyrighted content, such as celebrity pictures. In addition, we expect our users to use good judgment and respect the copyrights and other intellectual property rights of others. Therefore, in using Blogster, you may not:

  • upload or share any photographs, videos or other Content other than original works that are created by you or another user

  • post or share any Content that infringes upon or violates the copyright, trademarks or other rights of any third party

  • attempt to circumvent any content filtering techniques we may employ back to top

If I copy another blog's post should I link to them?

Yes, blog manners dictates that you make every effort to credit the original source of the blog post, this should be done through a link.. back to top

How much can I quote of another persons blog post?

It is generally good practice to only quote what is necessary to retain the context of the post. back to top

If someone complains about having a blog post copied, what should I do?

If you would like to make a report about someone violating the copyright you must click on “Report Abuse”. Type a description of the abuse in the text field labeled 'Message.' Be sure to include a detailed description of the nature of the abuse you are reporting.

Blogster will investigate the blog post and evaluate if the post was fair use, and not a copyright violation. If this is a copyright violation, Blogster will remove the offending post and explain why the post was removed. back to top

What exactly is copywritten?

Any creative works are copywritten. Even if the creator does not apply for a copyright, the creative works are protected by the copyright laws the moment the creative work is created. Unless the creator waives those rights, the creative cannot be reproduced or modified without the creators permission. Copywritten work includes images, text, music, or software. back to top

Abuse

What is Blogster policy?

Blogster takes violations of our terms of use very seriously. We encourage you to read through our Terms of Use as well as the Privacy Policy and Code of Conduct before filing a report with us.

After careful review, Blogster may remove any of your content or terminate your access to the site.

While we believe users should be able to express themselves and their point of view, certain kinds of speech simply do not belong in a community like Blogster. Therefore, you may not post or share Content that:

  • is obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit
  • depicts graphic or gratuitous violence
  • makes threats of any kind or that intimidates, harasses, or bullies anyone
  • is derogatory, demeaning, malicious, defamatory, abusive, offensive or hateful

Please note that Blogster is a provider of content creation tools, not a mediator of that content. We allow our users to create blogs, but we don't make any claims about the content of these pages. We strongly believe in freedom of expression, even if a blog contains unappealing or distasteful content or presents unpopular viewpoints. How can I report inappropriate content?

If you've read the Terms of Use and Code of Conduct and believe that you've found content that violates our Terms of Use, please click on the Report Abuse button anywhere on the site to report abuse. Abuse complaints made in any other way will not be investigated.

All reports are confidential. If you feel there is danger to yourself or others, call 9-1-1 immediately. Reports are serious and may result in police action.

Please use this form only to report Blogster members who may be abusing our services. If you are looking for help, please visit our help section or add opinions or suggestions on our “Suggestions” section.

Reason you can report a person:

  • Suicide
  • Threat of violence
  • Depictions of violence
  • Predator alert
  • Child pornography
  • Sexually explicit material/nudity

  • Cyber-bullying or harassment
  • User under the age of 13

What happen when I flag inappropriate content?

Once content is flagged, it is sent into a queue for our team to review. Content is NEVER automatically removed simply because they've been flagged. Flagged content is reviewed by Blogster team who then determines if the content contains material that is against our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.

If the content violates our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct, it is rejected. At this point, a warning letter is emailed to the user letting them know that the content was removed and that repeat violations will cause their account to be suspended. back to top

What happen when a user gets flagged multiple times?

A user with more than (3) flagged content gets suspended, pending review (aka banning)

Note: A user with more than (3) false notifications (i.e. falsely flagging) gets their flagging rights revoked or the account can be suspended.

Content is NEVER automatically removed simply because they've been flagged. Flagged content is reviewed by Blogster team who then determines if the content contains material that is against our Terms of Use and Code of Conduct.

Can I block someone so they can’t view my blog?

I am having problems with other Blogster users, how do I handle this?

You can go block the user from your blog. This will keep them from viewing your blog or sending messages to you. You can also set your blog to “friends only” and only users on your friends list can view your blog. back to top

We've done our best to make it less-than-obvious when you block someone else. 

Blocking someone automatically deletes them from your friends list and also doesn't allow the blocked person to see your profile. back to top
