1) "Champions"--movie theatres--2 hours & 3 minutes--Synopsis: a basketball coach must train a team of players with intellectual disabilities after being arrested for drunk driving--starts off slowly and sort of boring and then at one point takes off and you are cheering for them all--
A WINNER!
2) "Wish You"--Netflix--Korean movie--1 hour & 41 minutes--Synopsis: singing and dreaming together a talented singer/songwriter and a same-aged keyboardist add harmony and love to each other's lives--I love nothing more than a sweet love story no matter what the sexes are of those involved AND THIS IS SWEET PLUS!
3) "Chris Rock: Outrage"--Netflix--standup--1 hour--Synopsis: saying the 'N-word a dozen times is not funny--his anti-white rants strike me as racist--an hour of rants, rage and vulgarities are NOT funny!
4) "Dating My Mother"--Prime Amazon--movie--1 hour & 23 minutes--Synopsis: the intimate & tumultuous relationship between a single mother and her gay son as they navigate the dizzying world of online dating--not funny enough to be a comedy and not serious enough to be emotional--
a short film so nothing is lost if you do something else at the same time.
5) "Are You Joking?" --Prime Amazon--movie--1 hour & 30 minutes--Synopsis: Twenty-something New Yorker Barbara Schwartz somehow ended in New York in a life that sucks and, of course, her best friend is gay, her beautiful sister has 2 kids, a good life, etc.--and, DUH!, all ends happily ever after in the movies.
6) "Do Your Worst"--Netflix--Republic of South Africa movie--1 hour & 31 minutes--Synopsis: regret and redemption take center stage as Sandra faces the consequences of her own bad decisions--not as funny as it wants to be--it is enjoyable, a bit crazy and introduced me to Johannesburg.
7) "Eat With Me"--Prime Amazon--movie--1 hour & 35 minutes--Synopsis: Emma moves in with her estranged gay son and the pair must learn to reconnect and face a stubborn fear of intimacy along with the possibility of losing their family restaurant--a cute, fast-moving film with a twist.
8) "Faraway"--Netflix--German film--1 hour & 49 minutes--Synopsis: a woman embarks on a trip that ignites joy in her life--touching, moving, funny, sweet love story--what more do you want? A WINNER!
9) "You"--Netflix--series--Season 4--Part 2--6 hours & 7 minutes--Synopsis: at this point, you have either been following it or not--I have and except for some weird 'stuff' in episode 9 I like "You" and Joe :O)
10) "Luther"--Netflix--movie--2 hours & 10 minutes--Synopsis:--haunted by an unsolved murder brilliant, but disgraced, detective Luther breaks out of prison to hunt down a sadistic serial killer--I like the Luther series but is too morbid and too obnoxious.
11) "Tonight You Are Sleeping With Me"--Netflix--Polish movie--1 hour & 33 minutes--Synopsis: a woman must choose between her distant but loving husband and a younger ex-boyfriend--the 2 young leads are excellent and have the chemistry to make the story work--the scenery is beautiful--I didn't like the ending but it is an interesting film.
12) "Geography Club"--Prime Amazon--movie--1 hour & 23 minutes--Synopsis: At Goodkind High School a group of students with varying sexual orientations forms an after-school club--it has happened many times in many schools and now are more important than ever with kids being attacked for who they are by politicians like Governor DeSantis in Florida--it is never easy and this movie shows that--a VERY GOOD FILM!

Nothing new in "Joking". Are you a Lady Gaga fan? Watched her documentary "Lady Gaga: 5 feet 2"--she lets it all hang out and I found her to be open and honest! |
