Healthcare now!

Man I can't wait for Obamacare to kick in. I don't want to wait a couple more years for insurance. I just watched a video of a two-minute walk test for a patient before taking Ampyra and after. I would give anything for those kinds of results. I was prescribed the drug but it was so far out of my reach financially that I won't be able to afford it until my social security/disability kicks in in another year or so. If I could only get insurance I could be on it right away. But I can't because of a pre-existing condition. People who are so against healthcare for everyone really piss me off. Is it really such a bad thing that everyone has the opportunity to get the healthcare that will allow them to live full and productive lives? Would someone please explain why that is such a bad thing? I just don't get it. How/when did we turn into a nation of such selfish people?  People who basically say, I got mine, sorry about your luck. Can't get the healthcare you need?  Too bad, so sad.  Now I can almost (almost, mind you) understand people balking about providing benefits to those who have never worked and paid into the system.  But what about those of us who started working at 16 and didn't stop until it became physically impossible?  And even then, are looking for ways to continue to work?  I don't like being made to feel like a lesser member of society.  That's like heaping insult on top of injury.  I am still a member of society, trying my best to continue to contribute but not being allowed to truly do so because I am unable to receive the healthcare necessary to make me well enough to play with everyone else.  When, as a nation, did we become so bloody selfish?

It's too bad you can't get the treatment in an emergency unit. They'll pay that bill. Through really high insurance premiums. Go figure.

I wouldn't go around calling people who don't want to pay for YOUR health care selfish.

1. They may want to help pay for your health care but resent government ripping out of their hands and deciding who THEY will help.

2. Who is the selfish one? The one who doesn't want to give it or the one who demands what is not hers?

No one is paying for my healthcare.  I am on social security disability which I paid into for all the decades I worked.  i'm not asking for anything.  clearly you are a knee-jerk republican.

And clearly you said that you can't wait til someone else is paying for your health care.

grdnrose, don't waste your breath--he doesn't mind that you paid for his food stamps but for you to get medicine that will help you live a more productive life is another story--for the record he is a knee jerk tea party republican.

Well clearly he can't read either.  I didn't say I wanted anyone to pay for anything for me.  I just said i couldn't wait until I would be able to buy insurance myself, even with my pre-existing condition.  There wasn't a word about anyone else paying for it.  I have no problem with paying for my own insurance!  I just want the opportunity to be able to do it and at this point, no one will insure me because of my MS.  Knee-jerk tea party republicans clearly don't have the ability to read the actual words that are written.  Pity.  How does one get through life with such a narrow view?  He must bump into a lot of doors. {#basic-tongue-out.gif}

True you did contribute,and will again,my problem is with those taking it out of an already broken social security system,that they put very little into .I put more than 40 years in SS,and most people on SSDI get more a month than I do! Not talking about you,but I secured my health insurance by serving my country.
