So today was the end of another wonderful trip to Sundance. I woke up, brewed some coffee and prepared for my journey home. After my morning pot of coffee, I began finishing my packing. Snow was again falling outside and I was happy that I didn't have to struggle through the winter weather during trips back and forth to Park City during the Film Fest. Soon it was time to get on with the day.

Mel and I headed down to Ruth's Diner, a few miles down Emigration Canyon Road. Ruth's is a quaint little diner, here in Emigration Canyon, built around an old steel train car. The specialty: Ruth's Mile High Buttermilk Biscuits. My mouth waters just typing the words. Slathered with a little butter, these biscuits are a delicacy, and a special treat each year during my stay. i supplemented my buttermilk biscuit with a side order of Omelet... seriously. It was all good, and Mel and I returned to the house in time for me to load my rental car, say goodbye to Mel, and head into town, on my way to the airport in Salt Lake.

I stopped by Alisa's "The Red Espresso", had another of her yummy Obamarama Mochas, and did a little surfing of the internet. Was hoping to catch up with Alisa during my visit to her shop, but she was again rather busy with the responsibility of running a business, single-handed. Soon I decided to head out, said my goodbyes, and left for Dodge... actually the airport. My adventures were about to begin.

Somehow I always seem to have some excitement during almost any trips involving airlines and winter weather. Today would be no exception. My flight out of Salt Lake was on delay, and I began pacing, worrying about a tight connection in Detroit. I even inquired at the gate, but was assured I "should be fine". Well, time would prove them wrong. The plane finally left nearly 40 minutes late and I began to stress, but relaxed during the flight, as there was obviously nothing I could really do to change the timing of my flights. At best, I could hope that my connection to Allentown would also be running late, as there was prediction of bad weather back home.

My wishes did NOT come true, and when I finally arrived in Detroit and got off the plane, I had less than 10 minutes to get from one end of terminal A to the far end of terminal C. I ran across many moving walkways, down two sets of escalators, across an underground tunnel, up another escalator, across a few more moving walkways running, ran alongside still more crowded walkways, and then down one more escalator. The doors to the plane-way were already locked, but I got in... exhausted. The woman at the desk was announcing my name over the PA as I stumbled down the last escalator. Haven't run that fast since I was last chased by police in downtown Allentown... stoned and drunk! But I made it, yes I did, out of breath and delirious.

The rest of my trip was a short flight into Allentown. My flight landed in Allentown on time, and before I knew it, I was greeted by my wife, Wendy. Because of my tight connection in Detroit, my luggage did NOT make it back with me, but instead I would again have to wait to have my luggage delivered the following day. For some reason I seem to quite often get seperated from my luggage in transit. But I was home, and happy about it. Thursday would be another day.

This ends the journal of my Sundance trip, 2009. I will be back to draw some conclusions, and make some observations about the state of the economy and its effects on the Sundance Film Festival. Stay tuned. In the meantime, it's time for me to rest. NO movies, no popcorn, and no crowds, just the comfort of my own bed. Home at least, home at last... I'm home AT LAST!
