June Fitness Contest Rules
Hello friends. We're having a great day in northern Utah. It's finally above sixty - yes, it is almost June and still freezing cold! My Denver boy had his last day of school and found out he has a great teacher for next year - Jeremy Smith. Who happens to be a friend of mine from way back in high school. Denver is very excited to have a boy teacher and thrilled to be out of school for three months!
I agree with everyone's frustrations about the high gas prices. Today my two-year old, Stockton, decided to lodge his protest. He dumped five gallons of gasoline down the garage drain. I don't know that it's the most effective protest I've ever seen, but it definitely got his mom's attention!
Okay, we need to define the rules for the fitness contest. We start Monday, June 4th and go through Saturday, June 28th. There will be four points possible each day.
One point for drinking at least 64 ounces of water (H2O, you can't count your Diet Coke!)
One point for a challenging workout - I'm going to leave the details up to your discretion. If a challenging workout is a half-hour bike ride or an hour run and forty-five minutes of strength training. I'm trying to make this fair no matter what level you are at. I know you're all honest people so I'm just trusting you that if you gave yourself the exercise point you pushed yourself that day, dripped a bit of sweat, and felt like you had a good workout. Fair?
One point for no treats - cookies, cake, ice cream, candy, pop, etc. Some of you have asked what about syrup, jam, juice, etc. I'm not going to be that strict for the contest.
One point for healthy meals/snacks. I suggest the 5-6 small meals/snacks because it keeps your blood sugar level and prevents your body from storing fat. Please do not eat just to get your five meals in. I usually eat three normal meals, then my snacks are like an apple or a small bowl of popcorn. By healthy meals I mean no Wendy's or McDonald's. Try to include lots of fruits, veggies, lean meats and high fiber carbs. Again, I'm not going to spell everything out that you can and can't eat. If you have chips and salsa with an otherwise healthy meal I don't think you need to lose a point, but if your entire diet is chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, corn dogs, and french fries I don't think you deserve a point!
Is that clear as mud? Please e-mail me any questions - camichecketts@yahoo.com or post them in the comments section, then it helps everybody to see the answer.
So, we're all set. We start Monday. Again, there are four possible points a day. Sunday is a free day. That doesn't mean you have to binge (though I sometimes do!) But it's kind of nice to have a break where you don't have to count points and you can have a bowl of Ben & Jerry's without guilt!
I'm still compiling the list of prizes. My friend, Leslie, suggested that everyone donate a small prize or a bit of money and then we will have a lot more prizes. If you're interested in donating a prize, e-mail me. I'll end up donating a gift certificate or two and one of my books. Janna Barlow donated $20 from Sugar 'n Spice and RaeAnne Thayne said she would donate one of her new releases.
This should be a lot of fun and hopefully help me shave off some pounds!
Have a great weekend!

Good girl. I'm sure you'll do great. I love contests because they make me be good! I hope this is fun for you. I'll try and come up with some great prizes to give us all a bit more motivation! Cami |
Ok, make sure you do one of these for the Month of September...I'm due at the end of August. Laura |
I'm so glad you're in Brenda. We've got a great group signed up. It always helps me to have some motivation to stop buying Snelgroves! Cami |
Laura, September would be a good time! Maybe we should wait until October though so you can relax and enjoy that baby for a bit before you start worrying about not eating chocolate. Cami |
How about the winner gets a date with "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson? That would be highly motivating! Got any connections? Haha...Sorry, I do joke a lot - just ask Afton. Have a great day. Brenda Lee |

This looks like fun as well as motivating.
I'm not sure how well I'll do, but I'm going to give this a whirl. Hey, I have nothing to lose, right? And, who knows? Maybe I will lose something, like some weight! But, I will be honest...I don't believe in cheating. If I don't exercise or I eat something wrong, no points for me!
