At first blush this sounds like an outlandish question with a conspiratorial twist. The corollary question goes like this: Is the Obama administration intentionally scaling back clean-up efforts in the Gulf in an attempt to maximize the damage so Democrats in Congress will have an excuse to take effective control over yet another major sector of our economy and impose crippling and draconian new taxes on the American people?
We first learned of this controversy reading Sher Zieve who wrote in the Canada Free Press: “Obama is doing the bare minimum so that destruction will be at an all-time maximum — in order to shove his Cap and Trade bill (which will complete our destruction) down our throats.”
Zieve added: “The BP oil disaster was custom-made for The Obama… The effective oil-skimmer systems utilized by the Saudis and others would work to greatly minimize the damage being caused to the US Gulf Coast. But, The Obama continues to drag his heels as States and lives are destroyed.”
Fox News reported that when the Dutch government offered to help us clean up the oil spewing from the leaking BP oil rig, Obama initially turned them down cold. Norwegian and Dutch firms offered to help us too, but Obama said no.
It is reputed that the Roman Emperor Nero played his fiddle while Rome burnt to the ground so he could falsely blame the disaster on Christians and thereby rationalize a campaign of persecution against them.
Is it possible that Barack Hussein Obama and statists on Capitol Hill are using this crisis as an excuse to drive prices up at the pump, drive your utility bills through the roof, regulate your behavior and diminish your standard of living in this already queasy economy?
This much is certain — in spite of what Obama told the American people during his Oval Office address to the nation, he did not adequately respond to this crisis. The administration has clearly failed in terms of organization and the use of resources available to the federal government.
Moreover, it’s now indisputable that statists on Capitol Hill are attempting to exploit this disaster to push so-called cap and trade legislation. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell recently revealed: “At the same time as Americans wonder when this gusher will ever be plugged, we hear word that the administration and my good friend the majority leader want to piggy back their controversial new national energy tax — also known as cap and trade — to an oil spill response bill that could and should be an opportunity for true bipartisan cooperation. So here again, we see the administration using a crisis, in this case the disaster in the gulf, as an opportunity to muscle through Congress another deeply unpopular bill that has profound implications for small business and struggling households.”
But why let something as trivial as the truth get in the way when it comes to pushing an extreme “green” agenda? Liberals like Barack Obama made this problem worse so they could “solve” the problem and, as we’ve come to expect, they plan to “solve” the problem by making it worse.
So, true to form, Obama declared a moratorium on off-shore drilling and to make matters worse, Obama wants to institute a massive new energy tax, masquerading as sound energy policy (so-called cap and trade), that will dramatically raise the cost of just about everything you produce or consume, deprive you of income, control your behavior and repress your liberties.
Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, once said that you should never let a good crisis go to waste and Barack Obama and Democrats on Capitol Hill aren’t about to let this crisis go to waste. He may pontificate about holding BP to account but Obama and his leftist cronies fully intend to exploit this crisis to sneak liberty-stealing cap and trade legislation past the American people.

BP is only allowed to drill where the Obama administration approves for them to drill. At least according to the "World Socialist Web Site".
According to a study carried out by McClatchy Newspapers, since the beginning of June, the Minerals Management Service has approved five offshore drilling projects for the Gulf of Mexico. In three of these cases, the MMS agreed to waivers, or “categorical exclusions,” which allow the oil companies preparing to drill in the Gulf to avoid undergoing detailed environmental safety reviews. The MMS granted the same waiver to BP’s Deepwater Horizon project prior to the oil spill. Overall, 198 deepwater leases have been approved by the MMS for the Gulf of Mexico since April 20. Ten of these leases were sold to BP. This gift to the oil companies, including the very company responsible for the worst environmental disaster in US history, exposes the real relationship between the administration and the oil giants.

MMS has had problems for years, nothing but oil cronys and the like. Unfortunately, they didn't overhall and kick out the Bushie oil sucks in time. But, this land was leased back in 2009, drilling started in Feb . But there have been lots of reports regarding problems with the MMS. I brought it up before the disaster. In the 77 days since oil from the ruptured Deepwater Horizon began to gush into the Gulf of Mexico, BP has skimmed or burned about 60 percent of the amount it promised regulators it could remove in a single day. The disparity between what BP promised in its March 24 filing with federal regulators and the amount of oil recovered since the April 20 explosion underscores what some officials and environmental groups call a misleading numbers game that has led to widespread confusion about the extent of the spill and the progress of the recovery. "It's clear they overreached," said John F. Young Jr., council chairman in Louisiana's Jefferson Parish. "I think the federal government should have at the very least picked up a phone and started asking some questions and challenged them about the accuracy of that number and tested the veracity of that claim." In a March report that was not questioned by federal officials, BP said it had the capacity to skim and remove 491,721 barrels of oil each day in the event of a major spill. As of Monday, with about 2 million barrels released into the gulf, the skimming operations that were touted as key to preventing environmental disaster have averaged less than 900 barrels a day . Skimming has captured only 67,143 barrels, and BP has relied on burning to remove 238,095 barrels. Most of the oil recovered -- about 632,410 barrels -- was captured directly at the site of the leaking well. BP officials declined to comment on the validity of early skimming projections, stressing instead the company's commitment to building relief wells intended to shut down the still-gushing well. "The numbers are what they are," said BP spokesman Toby Odone . "At some point, we will look back and say why the numbers ended up this way. That's for the future. Right now, we are doing all we can to capture and collect the oil through various methods. We will make sure all the oil is ultimately dealt with."... Oh please, republicans don't care about the jobs, they certainly don't care about the unemployed, or did you forget the republicans blocked their unemployment. I do hope that the 14 million+ unemployed come out in November to thank the GOP personally. I know many in my area plan to, Rand and Conway are now Tied. The Arizona law is one that is not justified by "increased violence" because FBI statistics say there is no increased boarder violence. And it is racist. I am glad the DOJ filed its suit against Arizona today. It is NOT the same as the federal law, that is a myth.

Eky, It's really very simple when you boil it down. BP knew they were cutting corners in safety. BUT SO DID THE Obama ADMINISTRATION! They are BOTH culpable. The guy running things is responsible. That would be Obama. Then he refused to cut through the red tape to get the skimming underway. Now it is hurricane season. Now how stupid is that? Again, look at the debt chart above, to see what has "run it up". Contingency plans that go into effect automatically in economic downturns kicked in. Obama put the war on the budget, instead of making it a separate "supplimental" every time, said we have to start paying the tax cuts, and said we need to improve the infrastructure that Bush ignored while killing muslims in two countries, one with minimal connection to the attack and the other with NONE. Get rid of the Bush tax cuts, and see how fast that debt goes down... |

James, we have relatives that live in AZ and it is not about being racist. They talked about it at length while they were here visiting us just recently. The problem is so many illegals are coming across the border the state can't take care of the citizens of AZ in the way of education, healthcare, ect. because the illegals are getting all of those benefits. Have you ever been to southern NM or southern AZ? Our relatives are less than 100 miles from the border. They have lived there for over 50 years grew up there. It has changed a LOT and not for the better. We used to live in southern NM and still have relatives that live there. |

I don't know what part you were looking at but, it is a beautiful state. We grew up in the southern part (desert) but, only 3 hours from some beautiful mountains. Most of the northern part of the state is mountainous especially through the mid-north. The closer to the border of Mexico the more problems and they have their hands full. |

Education helps ameliorate the prejudices so that people can understand each other better and get that we are not so different after all. The offer was made to the Government, they declined and hence shoulder the blame on this particular incident. It's a whole matrix of players involved including the compliant media and military personnel. If we were to trace it to a potential motive for an intent to allow or manufacture this crisis then the web of suspicion would would be cast much, much wider. But point taken and heard loud and clear in correctly identifying US Government, Haliburton and BP as part of a larger collusive entity. The goal? Power. It's always about power ultimately. The Gulf of Mexico, the people, the ecosystem, the erosion of faith in US government, maybe even BP (BP Biofuels and their subsidiaries will do quite well though) are all sacrificed for that power. The power will be attempted to be consolidated through carbon trading, the biofuel industry (algae grows exceptionally well in polluted water), further taxation (carbon being part of it, subsidies for green tech being another), transfer of wealth and finally world governance. Don't feed the beast with your money, time, talent and labour. Build something independant of it and it will starve and wither away with time. It starts with creation from us not in attacking them - 'them' is a system of conquest, control and centralisation with no consideration for anything else. |

They were right on not letting this crisis go to waste, the whole gulf coast is a wasteland of oil now. Obamas reaction is appaling, as well as his managing this ordeal. I cant fathom why nothing in human engineering can fix this leak, I know its a mile underwater. But we put a man on a moon. Its sickening that media has been turned around when asked to document this crisis, that shows the government has something to hide. Both republicans and democrats are failures and we need to let them know that at the polls in November. Rep. Bartons comments during the BP litigation truly highlighted how much the government is in bed with big companies. Truly tragic. |
It seems to me that everyone wants the power to go to the people, but when something goes wrong, they demand that the Government step in with more regulation. Regulation transfers the power from the people to the Government. Once the Government takes possession of that power they never give it up. They only tighten their grip, that is, until they can use their leverage over large corporations to their own political advantage. This practice has been proven to exist to a large degree on both sides of the isle. Little or no regulation allows industry to flourish, but at the expense of the victims of the accidents that are bound to occur when regulation is non-existent. Question is, what in history is more responsible for the mass murder of a countries population, a greedy out of control oil company, or a power hungry, control all Government? We are at the point now where we are no longer trying to figure out how much regulation is enough or too much, we are in a battle with extreme ideologies giving it their all. The days of the moderate are gone forever. The right sees compromise as defeat, and the left has it's sights set on a complete transformation from Capitalism to Socialism. When our dear old Grandpa proudly declared his allegiance to the Democratic party, little did he know that his hero FDR, was actually the biggest Communist to ever set foot on American soil. By making a crises twice as bad as need be, he was able to make Government appear to have the power to solve all problems, large and small. Now we have Obama using that same model to finish what FDR started some seventy years ago, only now, people are more informed than Grandpa was then. I'm not saying that Grandpa was stupid, I'm just saying that we have more sources of information now. We are not limited to our wanna-be dictator's radio broadcasts as our only source of information. The right is just as broken as the left. Slowly but surely, political correctness has been allowed to seep in through the cracks, and this infestation of false guilt has led many Republicans to wander around lost without a political identity. They have wrongly been called a hater, a racist, a cold hearted SOB, and they have been made to feel guilty because of their ability to succeed. In other words, the Republican party was blending in with the Democratic party. Republicans have been trying to Govern using Progressive ideas and policies. Republicans have jumped on the big spending bandwagon and now the Democrats are pointing out how flawed Republican policies have been in recent years. What they don't point out is, the policies they blame Bush for are the same policies Progressives have been pushing for decades. We find ourselves in a period of time where everyone is seeking out their own identity. Everyone on the right is going far right. No compromise, no moderation, and no more false guilt. Those on the left are lost. The small number of people still defending Obama's every move are the die-hard transformationalists. They refer to themselves as Communists, but only when discussing policies among themselves. In public however, the keep their intentions hidden, always diverting the attention away from their own radical intentions by demonizing everything traditionally American. The rest of the Democratic party is either still uninformed and waiting for another Clinton to emerge, or they have relabeled themselves as Independents. The line in the sand has been drawn. Hard right, and hard left. No more center anything. The only ones willing to compromise are the Independents, because they will have to decide which radical team to put their support behind. One thing is obvious, they are running away from this administration. After reading the comments above, I have to say that Obama is doing all of the above. He is slow in his response to the oil spill because he wants it to be worse than it is, so he can demonize oil and push through Cap and Trade legislation. He put BP in charge, because he has neither the will, or the ability to handle a crises situation, and he needs to have someone to blame at election time. I'm not going to say that the spill itself was intentional, nor will I blame it on Bush's cronyism, or Obama's equally corrupt involvement, but I will say that this administration has openly shown their willingness to take advantage of a crises. Not unlike Obama's heroes and mentors of the past hundred years. Both public figures and personal friends alike. If we make a list of Obama's actions to date and try to give him a grade, the grade generated would, and could, only come from the heart of the one doing the grading. If you are a true Communist and you believe in total Government control of everything, then you will give Obama an A+, then you will proceed to place his portrait on your wall alongside that Of Stalin and Castro. If you believe in the Constitution, personal responsibility, and fighting wars to win them, you will give Obama an F, then burn his portrait by coating it with fresh crude taken straight from your favorite gulf beach.
