A quote (a warning) from President James Garfield, 1877:

“Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness and corruption. If the next centennial does not find us a great nation, it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”

Maybe they are RINOs...I wrote an article questioning FOX motives a few years ago, Anhydrous Amonia.

That Garfield quote is from an article in the July 1877 edition of Atlantic Monthly. It's well worth reading the entire article, but I'll go ahead for convenience sake and provide the section the quote came from:

"CONGRESS FOR THE PEOPLE --The legislation of Congress comes much nearer to the daily life of the people than ever before. Twenty years ago, the presence of the national government was not felt by one citizen in a hundred. Except in paying his postage and receiving his mail, the citizen of the interior rarely came in contact with the national authority. Now, he meets a thousand ways. Formerly the legislation of Congress referred chiefly to our foreign relations, to indirect taxes, to the government of the army, the navy, and the Territories. Now a vote in Congress may, any day, seriously derange the business affairs of every citizen.

And this leads me to say that now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand those high qualities to represent them in the national legislature, Congress lives in the blaze of 'that fierce light which beats against the throne.' I linked an archive source, but the point is, which the article continues to drive, is expansion of the federal government and federal meddling combined with every citizen regardless of intelligence or motive having an ear and a voice connected to Congress, makes Congress far more dangerous than it ever was intended to be.

Whether you cal it one-world or Euro-centric socialist ideology the Obama administration seeks a supplant our Constitutional Republic with a bastardised socialism fashioned after a model of direct democracy. To passionately support an unelectable hedonist over any other candidate with even an ounce more hope of beating Obama is to aid final destruction of the fruit left us by our Founding Father.

Garfield's excellent quote is utterly betrayed when used to not only promote low character in government, but to usher in defeat. If Obama can be defeated, our task will be to elect a new moral Congress and shrink government, but if Obama wins, it is game over. Right now, the way I see it, Newt Gingrich is the man standing in the way of directing our efforts against Obama's policies, and that might just make Gingrich the most dangerous man alive.

Newt is nothing if not expedient,... a 2-face and a Trojan horse in Conservative camp. Yes, VERY dangerous. Thankfully the B.S. Moon Base crap isn't being swallowed by Floridians. I hope he's through, but I don't think the RINO's in charge of Newt are going to let us off that easy.

...both of which I use regularly, Neo, and seldom do I tune in at Fox.. --Interesting that Beck is appearing so different now that he's not at Fox. (Incidentally, my first suspicion of Fox began with me taking exception to their TV Programming which was/is almost as sexual/immoral/racy as the others...did/does not seem either right or Right to me.)

Neo, all this is right on... But it is too little too late I fear. I think the foundation is rotten, and that is why I keep saying things like this:

One of the reasons, probably the biggest reason that America is headed for the tank is because of sin. These pregnancy and birth issues as a group is the most awful sin ongoing in the USA; it should have been stopped long ago. One needs to ask and get an an answer: Where have been the Christians?  Well, they obviously have not been cooperating with the prayers of Jesus in the Good News of John in which he prayed for their unity....

Bible tells us that God chooses the leaders. Proof  is all history of Israel/Jews where, when they were righteous everything was fine, and when they were immoral/dishonest/unrighteous, finally their whole country and all its people suffered when they did not turn from their wicked ways; even today they are still under one of those judgments, by the way. 

I think that God has warned The USA and its electorate masterfully, increasingly more and more noticeably, by the outcomes of recent elections: 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010. Now, this period between 2010 and 2012 --is it more warning just before our complete undoing? I think so; if Obama is re-elected the USA will have passed the tipping point from whence it shall not recover. What is the solution?

There are some definite commands of God to be reckoned with --the IF's.

IIChronicles 7: 14 "IF My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and IF they will pray and seek My face, and IF they will turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin(s) and heal their land." (their "land" was everything to them)

America, was founded on Godly principles and now very far from many of them.Americans need to humble themselves before God, reverse their sins, repent and beg God's forgiveness. 

Only then will God forgive them and heal their land --their everything.

I agree completely. My mom who is nearly 90 and sharp as a tack, cites that verse all the time, so how could I help but love it and wholeheartedly agree. Thanks Fedup!

I understand there was a movement, perhaps by Pentacostals...something like "If My People..." movement.

Too bad all these 'movements' get fairly quickly watered down and/or smushed by the enemy. Promise Keepers, was another; Devils went after the leaders and the leaders succumbed ...caused it to be ruined. Too bad.... (was before I was born-again)

I guess that one of the main Christian faults is that the flocks don't obey God's suggestion/command to pray effectively (or at all) for the leaders.

True...our sinful disobedient nature commonly called the human condition. I guess that's why we need Grace. Movements of mankind for all their good intent will always come and go, leaders and followers rise and fall, but only Christ's Redemption is constant...even for the fallen who return with broken hearts and contrite spirits. :)

Neo, my point is they don't pray, haven't prayed & been in to due diligence, and we have what we have now.

Here's a flash: almost no one in Christianity is cognizant and using the fact that the devils 1. go after Christians MUCH more than they do Pagans, and 2. work hard on enabling evil men to do their bidding. That makes a big strike against Christian progress in anything. --The real enemy, then, is spiritual, and it seems like a great majority of Christians are not engaged or effectively engaged in that battle...so, wasting their time if they are not so engaged, maybe even they themselves being used by the devils. See what I mean?

Thanks for the American Thinker article Hershey! "The already unfavorable media environment for conservatives may look like the good old days all too soon." That's what I'm afraid of, and it's already moved far in that direction! Why else would Fox be promoting Gingrich, the one candidate who polls the worst against Obama.

Neo: The article grabbed my attention as I've noticed an increasing number of ppl commenting about the Not So Far and Balanced FoxNews. Viewers are leaving looking for a good place to find information. Comments I've read indicate they are heading to blogs on the net for those views and analysis. I watch more of Fox Business these days then FoxNews and it isn't because some of those guys are eye candy. Cavuto has some terrific guests on both of his shows that have done a good job of educating me about how businesses grow or don't, how excessive regulation is killing them , etc etc.
