I remember being blown along the promenade at Southport on a tricicyle and then the wind blowing me off and grazing my knees and legs on the gritty floor.

I remember stopping the Police car outside my home in the pouring rain and seeing my daughters Teddy bear soaking in the rain on the back lawn.

I remember Nancy.  I was eight and she was nine.  For three wonderful days on holiday, I was in love.

I remember the first time we met and knowing as we held each other in a welcoming hug, that both of us knew it was right.

I remember Friday 6th June 1958 and trying to hide my tears in a cupboard.

I remember the darkest richest most chocolaty hot chocolate in the Camera Cafe in the Old Town of Krakow.

I remember standing on Hudson Heights and looking across the river to the lights of New York in January.

I remember lying in my bed during the late summer and hearing the creaking of the bed in my parents bedroom.  My father was visiting my brother.  My mother had died several weeks before.

I remember standing in the door of the aircraft which opened in front of me at Athens airport and thinking that the blast of incoming hot air was from the jet engine.

I remember standing behind the main mast of a two masted schooner and watching the sails fill with wind, and though I was aware the boat was moving swiftly back towards East Falmouth, could feel no wind on my face.

I remember laughing out loud as the instructor in the passenger seat of the 420G Jaguar was lifted from his seat by the force of the 135mph slipstream.

That must be some car! When I get enough money, I would love to own a Ferrai!

This is a wonderful post, Fangio! Reminiscencing down memory lane.

Thank you anonymous.  The car was a Police Car and I was on an Advanced Driving Course.  Grat fun driving high speed cars at above the speed limit whilst someone else put the petrol in the tank!!

Well, it surely beats that Chevy Volt. LOL

Funny how we can remember things from our childhood - but not where we put the car keys ?)

What car?

I don't remember any of that. Are you sure? So when did you go to Athens Georgia?

The other Athens - the one in Greece

Oh! the minor Athens.

Not so.  The First Athens!

Some old crumbly buildings. So what? Does your Athens have a Double barrel cannon on display?

No, but we have lots of cannons on display in parks and public places.  Most of them were captured during the Crimean War - round about the time you were arguing between the north and south.

OK. If you got cannons, you win. I won't go anywhere they don't have cannons.

We have cannons coming out of our ears from all the wars we have been involved in.

This looks like an index for future postings from the Fang....

Now that's an idea!

I remember my remarkable life but someday when I get to your age i don't know how much I will remember.

There are a couple of your remembrances I would like to question but...

I agree with BFD, some stories to be told behind these remembrances.

I'm not sure if I understood the bed creak / father visiting brother one.  If no one else was home, I guess ghosts.  If father was in there with your brother, that's pretty disturbing.

My father was visiting my brother at his home (he was married).  It was all about ghosts.

Glad to hear that.  Had me worried for a second.
