About Me
My name is Liz Mayfield. I have an amazing husband named Cameron and a dog named Chaz. I love to read, learn about pretty much anything, cook, and buy shoes. I am deathly afraid of spiders, bugs, heights, and separation from my husband. I am probably one of the most organized people in the world, and I like to be in a cleanly environment. I am majoring in Elementary Education and I am so excited to be a teacher! I love to work with students, especially those who are struggling, and my favorite part about teaching is seeing the effects of learning in my students (that "Ah-ha!" moment). I currently work in an after school program and I am in charge of teaching the science lessons. I want to make a difference in the parts of school that many other teachers ignore, whether consciously or unconsciously. I think that it is so important for students to be well-rounded, and I want to be a teacher that encourages them to do so.
I want to be an educator because God gives them the important role of loving and teaching children in accordance with His Word. It is true that I will be held accountable, and my actions, especially in the classroom, will be judged at a much higher standard. However, it is also true that I have been given the possibility to reap so many blessings from my career, including love from my students and the chance to change their lives. I know that being a teacher is a great responsibility, and I know that God will use me to reach my students and help them to reach their highest potential both educationally and personally. God says that unless we become child-like in our faith, we will not see His Kingdom, and I believe by God's grace that with this mentality I will be able to learn far more from my students than they could ever learn from me.
