I have been using Mozilla’s Firfox browser for years but I recently both updated to Firfox 4 and have been tinkering with Google Chrome. I have mixed feelings about the new web browsers, but for the most part, I like the changes and layouts. I wonder, however, what other people use and how they like it…so feel free to comment, please!

I just started using the Google Chrome yesterday. I don't like the new firefox 4.0 To me, it's not as fast for some reason. Some say it's faster than the older versions, but it's not working right for me and I have been using firefox for a long time. But Google Chrome is super fast and I have been playing with the extensions and themes. I tried Google Chrome in the past, but didn't play with it enough to give it a chance. I wish I would of because I live on entensions that are simular to Fast Dial. I got speed Dial on mine now and it's about the same. I don't use my book marks, but I will use those type of extenstions. I also use extensions that are about weather,  news, Facebook and Twitter, email notifications, screen capture, and WOT (web of trust). To bad I had to tinker with Google Chrome at the last minute when my internet is about to get shut off (sigh)

Even JOEZsREPUBLICANPAGE is faster and that blog used to take awhile to load for me.

Yeah, that's what made me wonder, I have been using firefox for years, but not so sure about the new version...hang in there...you're still on-line!

So far so good......

IE 8 here, which seems to be a little unstable when coupled with Windows 7.  I get the message "IE 8 HAS STOPPED WORKING AND NEEDS TO CLOSE!" and there's nothing I can do to save whatever I've been working on, can't screenshot it, copy to clipboard, nothing!  This happens mostly in email, does anyone else have this problem?

I stopped using IE a long time ago. I don't know the answer to that, but just on a guess, those two are conflicting some how or another.......wait! I just found some things that might help. Click Here or search through Google here.

Thanks, blogmom, but I am not running any add ons and this is a brand new machine, bare as can be.  Hell, I haven't even got the thing paid off yet!

Yeah, that why I stopped using IE in the first place...too unstable. Try firefox of chrome, they're very different.

I wonder if it's any tool bars. Do you have any of those like yahoo toolbar, mysearch toolbar, or answers.com toolbars? If so, disable those and try that. Other than that, I have no clue! I know that toolbars were an issue with me and when I see people with several toolbars on their browser, I cringe because some of those do add extra stuff to your computer without you knowing about it.

Nope, no toolbars, (aka add ons, lol.)

well crap, then you're screwed for now until you find someone that does know. lol! Sorry, wish I could of been of some kind of help :(

What email do you use? Browsers can crash because of malware or overloading scripts. If a script in the website is creating an endless loop, your browser will stop working.

I have several web-based email addresses that I use, like gmail, hotmail, and windows live.  I believe I was in hotmail the last time IE locked up.

Please check compatibility. right click on IE icon>troubleshoot compatibility. Save settings and try again. If the problem persists, the reasons could be that:

1.settings for Java runtime environment are not correct.

2. There is a problem with Adobe flash player or adobe reader

Go to Control panel>display settings and make sure that your computer supports 256 or more colors. Java requires at least 256 colors. If it not the issue, try upgrading Adobe flash and adobe reader.
If the problem persists, there maybe a addon that was installed without your knowledge, please scan your computer for malwares and disable the addons if you find any.  Hope this helps..

Thanks, goutham, will give your suggestions a try.

:) you're welcome.

Wow, pretty even results!

Option for "no clue"?

Look at the blue bar across the very top of your browser...it should say 'Internet Explorer' or 'Mozilla Firefox' or whatever.

Likely you have internet explorer, if you've never installed anything else.  It's generally the default browser on all new machines.  IE is owned by microsoft...so that's what comes with the operating program.  Any of the others, you have to go online and install.

I click on a big blue "e" icon....but I not nothing of this IE 8....????

I just push buttons and hope for the best.......

yup, the big blue 'e' icon is internet explorer....

You're funny...I love your answer!

{#basic-mouth-shut.gif} You probably think I am kidding, but I am not! I am super lucky that I have come this far.....( being able to post a blog and comment)...not sure how I get here......but these magical buttons take me to OZ and back!

I switched from ie to firefox probably three years or so ago.  IMO it is way better.  Have never tried any of the others.

Other: Safari 5 (5.0.4 as of today).

I got tired to hell of waiting for Firefox to start up.

Safari and Chrome when I open them are like BAM IN UR FACE LETS SURFS INTERNETS BTW I REMEMBERED UR PRON IF YOU WANNA SEE IT AGAIN.

Firefox is like "... ... hang on im going to f*** around a bit... checking if i am up to date... lol yeah i am just hang on a sec someone just called asked if my fridge was running and said i had to go catch it brb... lol it was a joke my fridge was still there... alright lets see... yep alright we should use internet now... SQUIRREL!"

lmao! You're a riot!  I just installed Google Chrome yesterday and love it over Firefox...and firefox used to be my favorite.

~snark.

You're very funny...and very right, chrome opens and bam, I'm going and firefox does like to take it's time...

just telling it like it is. so use safari when i can (my macbook), chrome when i cannot (various Windows machines).

The dearest "dPhilip" with the external browsers!

Greetings;

I knew you were gifted!

I left IE years ago and went with firefox/mozilla, it worked really well except for a couple of problems I had with some online static games I play. It would slow down to a crawl. I switched to chrome and not only is it faster in my opinion, but it doesn't slow down (Lag) like firefox did.

That's what I'm finding too...chrome just seems to go!

I use chrome and firefox

Do you prefer one to the other?

Nope, they each have perks i love :)

I still have to use IE8 to put in my timesheets for work every other week, but I quit using it years ago and switched to Firefox.  Firefox was really fast and reliable for me, but I think this latest version is slower than the last version.  After reading the comments, I may try Google Chrome.

Try chrome, it's pretty cool!

Thanks for coming by too!

firefox and safari here. but i'm not updated to the most recent firefox and now i'm scared to! but i've never had problems with speed or anything..soooooo....if it aint broke....don't fix it!

I went to the Comcast site the other day before I updated to firefox4, and it told me that the current version of my browser won;t properly display the site which is why I upgraded...but I've got mixed feelings still and I'm liking chrome a lot!

Interesting.

I may at a future date try out chrome.

Have just downloaded FFox4.

We shall see. (It IS slow out of the starting gate).

Funny thing, Chrome makes my older laptop crash...I run WinXPpro on that machine and chrome won't run on it very well. However, on the newer machine, which is running Win7, chrome rules and is super fast and stable...

My laptop is only 2 years old, but I will run FF4 for awhile to see if it is better than the older version...

I use three browsers:

Aol is the provider, when they go wacko I switch over to Google Chrome, and Firefox. Its always good to have a back up!

I've hears "AOL" stands for "Almost On-Line"...lol!

Yes, a back up plan is a good thing...have a nice weekend!

Well I'm flattered, but i'm spoken for thank you...have a good spam, er, I mean day!
