The Housing Crisis Is Over!

Added: Tuesday, February 7th 2012 at 11:01am by dphilip

Well, after a week of wringing our hands, sending prayers and keeping our faith throughout a sea of doubt, the house deal is finally resolved and we have, as of today, officially signed the lease, made our payments and have the keys in hand! We did stipulate that we will not officially reside in the house until the last weekend of the month, but we get possession of it now so that we can complete some of the minor work that needs to be done; things like a deep cleaning, some painting in the kitchen, replacing a few ceiling fixtures (with fans) and other assorted odd jobs to get the place move-in ready. Although the move in costs in terms of the deposit and rent were a little more than we originally agreed upon, we’re alright with this because it’s only a matter of money. Money can be over come, with a little help, we can cover the costs of the move and progress towards our dream.

The other mitigating factors which delayed this landlord’s decision, we’re only speculating on because to date, all of our dealing has been via a real estate agent. The scuttlebutt, however, is that this landlord is a little gun shy to rent out this house, a place where he raised his family and is looking at as a nest-egg investment during his retirement years, for fear of somehow getting screwed by a potential resident. He has probably heard some horror stories, which I’m sure are true, about how some people ruin their rental houses. This is not the case with us, however and we feel that after 6 months or so of our living there, of paying the rent in full on time every month and taking excellent care of his house, he will relax and be comfortable with us staying there and may even come to enjoy having us as tenants. So, amen and thank you all for the prayers and support, we got ourdream house!

I don’t have a lot of time to write, we have a Mother Road Media Dreams meeting this evening and I have a whole host of things to complete before this meeting. We have been actively and aggressively approaching a variety of Hollywood companies with a methodical and well planned series of letters, phone calls, script submissions and other tactics. We are still talking about making a pilgrimage to Hollywood this year, however, this won’t happen until late summer or early fall…unless something outrageously fantastic happens, then we might be there sooner. My partners and I have been discussing ways to expand our marketability and to this end we’ve been talking about the potential to recruit some other writers with completed screenplays whom we would also represent along with our stuff. It’s a project in the early stages of development butwe’re thinking of launching it sometime between April and June; so, if you’re a writer with a completed screenplay, please take a moment to PM me here or email me directly at dphilip@mrmd.co and I will be happy to share some information with you.

In closing, again I thank you for your well wishes, support and prayers in resolving this housing crisis of ours, I am forever Grateful! Many of you told me to just relax, we will get it and you were 100% right, thanks for helping me keep my dobber up about all this and continue moving forward with our plans! Everybody have a fantastic week and please, take care, be well and stay cool!

You called this one and said we'd get it...thanks Nota!

You are very welcome. Sometime we just have to listen to the little voice inside that says it will be ok and ignore the doubts.

{#apploud.gif} {#apploud.gif} {#apploud.gif}   I am so excited for you all!!!  "Good things come to those who wait" or something like that!  lol

I feel sure your career dreams will come true as well once you are settled.

Now get packing, painting, and prettying!  {#guitarplay1.gif}

Yep, now the real hard work begins!

Thanks for all your insights and suggestions, it really made a difference to me while we were dealing with this process...

Have a great week!

Painting and decorating is FUN WORK!!  You need me and nota there!  lol

I have your yard landscaped in my mind already!

Glad I could share what knowledge I do have in the business Dp.

It is to be sunny all this week so definitely a great one!  You have a good one too!

Thanks!

Wonderful news dp!  Congrats on your new house, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Thank you! We are so excited, we're dancing in the streets!

Yay! So happy for you DP. You deserve all the happiness in the world! :)

Thanks, we're feeling very blessed with this news...

Sort of a six-month trial basis. That should work. Good news :-)

Tell you to relax? You seem like a laid-back guy already.

I may be laid back, but I have my share of anxious moments too!

Yes, this is working out very well...Thanks for your comment Brad!

it was meant to be, and yeah a landlord of a home where he raised his kids is totally different than an ivestment type guy. Tell you what you do, let him know if he's ever in the area you would love to have him in for coffee, that ought to mellow his cranky out, lol. I'll have to give you a call this week, life has lightened up a bit, well no it hasn't but my schedual has, school is done, just wish there had been more i didn't already know. BUT, I made the office manager happy by going so thats a good thing, lol. At least someone was happy about it, lmao.

Thanks for your support and advice Charlie...it was a little scary there for a while, but everything has worked out exactly as we hoped and so, we're very happy!

YES! Give me a call when you can, I'll be around most everyday...Thursday I have a doctor's appointment but I'll be home by noon...look forward to talking again!

try to remember...life is a garden...dig it...

{#thumbs_up.gif} Hey DP,

Terrific news! Congrats!

Thanks Ajay!

Glad it worked out! Congrats to you and your family. I am sure you will take good care of this man's home. It's a pride thing and I know you and your family understand that. I hope you will be happy there.

We do understand his concerns and we too are very proud of this home so we will fill it with love, warmth and tender care...Thanks for stopping by, once we get situated I will host a blogster housewarming party or something!

I know your family will love that house and take excellant care of it! You should have used us for references!

Party at your place! {#blower2.gif}

Congrats.  Now you will have to mow the lawn. :)  What does the back yard look like?

It's a large backyard, un fenced with some trees and shrubs along the back property line...the house comes equipped with a new mower and we have a 15 year old son who wants to earn $ for a car, so...I think we will work something out!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you're having an excellent week as well?

So glad the house issue worked out for you Philip.  I have no doubt you will be an excellent tenant.

Thanks Joan, yes we will be the best tenants ever!

It looks brilliant, really happy for you. I had a basement flat for 3yrs and I felt so low, but now I have this one with a brilliant view and I feel it is home. So I know how it feels to find somewhere where you know you will be happy.

Thanks mate....I think our teenager is going to love having his own space in the basement...and I'll finally have an office of my own!

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a great week!

congrats!!! such an exciting adventure, setting up a new home! {#awesome.gif}

Thanks Mary! We are so happy, we're bouncing off the walls!

Congratulations again. The GOOD news is....you get to move!!!! The BAD news is....ugh...now you gotta MOVE....LOL

Very exciting!!

We're hiring movers for the bulk of the move, but the packing is unending!

Great time to THROW STUFF AWAY!!!

LOL! So is the UNpacking!

When you first posted the house, I was going to tell you what a good feel it had just in print, but then I saw your next post and decided to hold off...but now I can tell you I'm so happy for you!!  And the house does have a good feel to it with the stone, those cool front windows, the huge trees - it all looks so comfortable and homey.  Congratulations!

Thank you...we have everything perfectly lined up now and we'll move in on 2/27...we CANNOT wait!
