The Housing Crisis Is Over!
Well, after a week of wringing our hands, sending prayers and keeping our faith throughout a sea of doubt, the house deal is finally resolved and we have, as of today, officially signed the lease, made our payments and have the keys in hand! We did stipulate that we will not officially reside in the house until the last weekend of the month, but we get possession of it now so that we can complete some of the minor work that needs to be done; things like a deep cleaning, some painting in the kitchen, replacing a few ceiling fixtures (with fans) and other assorted odd jobs to get the place move-in ready. Although the move in costs in terms of the deposit and rent were a little more than we originally agreed upon, we’re alright with this because it’s only a matter of money. Money can be over come, with a little help, we can cover the costs of the move and progress towards our dream.
The other mitigating factors which delayed this landlord’s decision, we’re only speculating on because to date, all of our dealing has been via a real estate agent. The scuttlebutt, however, is that this landlord is a little gun shy to rent out this house, a place where he raised his family and is looking at as a nest-egg investment during his retirement years, for fear of somehow getting screwed by a potential resident. He has probably heard some horror stories, which I’m sure are true, about how some people ruin their rental houses. This is not the case with us, however and we feel that after 6 months or so of our living there, of paying the rent in full on time every month and taking excellent care of his house, he will relax and be comfortable with us staying there and may even come to enjoy having us as tenants. So, amen and thank you all for the prayers and support, we got ourdream house!
I don’t have a lot of time to write, we have a Mother Road Media Dreams meeting this evening and I have a whole host of things to complete before this meeting. We have been actively and aggressively approaching a variety of Hollywood companies with a methodical and well planned series of letters, phone calls, script submissions and other tactics. We are still talking about making a pilgrimage to Hollywood this year, however, this won’t happen until late summer or early fall…unless something outrageously fantastic happens, then we might be there sooner. My partners and I have been discussing ways to expand our marketability and to this end we’ve been talking about the potential to recruit some other writers with completed screenplays whom we would also represent along with our stuff. It’s a project in the early stages of development butwe’re thinking of launching it sometime between April and June; so, if you’re a writer with a completed screenplay, please take a moment to PM me here or email me directly at dphilip@mrmd.co and I will be happy to share some information with you.
In closing, again I thank you for your well wishes, support and prayers in resolving this housing crisis of ours, I am forever Grateful! Many of you told me to just relax, we will get it and you were 100% right, thanks for helping me keep my dobber up about all this and continue moving forward with our plans! Everybody have a fantastic week and please, take care, be well and stay cool!

You are very welcome. Sometime we just have to listen to the little voice inside that says it will be ok and ignore the doubts. |
