That's what I'm afraid of...before too long I'm going to be a grandparent I think and I'm going to be stuck at home every NYE! I think it's this festive feeling I have that promotes my desire to go out and party... |

I loved to party and we had quite a few parties at our home. Our guests would stay over and a big country breakfast was fixed the next day. WE had a ball. I do miss it. I wish I could still party like a rock star! LOL |

LOL! I agree, although not a grand parent yet, I see my father light up when the kids are around and my 20 year old, who is very serious about his girlfriend, is bound to make a grand parent out of me before too long! |

LOL yes Rica, I have 19 y/o grandson, 18y/o grand daughter and 7 y/o twin grand daughters. I have cared for all 4 while their mom's and dad's work. I have two children, a son who is 46 and a daughter who is 43. I have had a child in my home for the last 46 years:) |

New Year's Eve's of the past have always been spent at the in-laws watching t.v.......yahoo. Yes...it was a thrill....stuff shirts on a couch! Last year was at a hotel, since I was travelling with my children alone....so, no party. This year will be my first Celebration with friends. I am really looking forward to the laughter and fun! |

Couldn't 'vote'--needed another option--I am celebrating New Year's Eve with Bette Midler and her special from Las Vegas on HBO. NYE is for the younger folks to go out and make fools of themselves--well at least that was what I did! |

She and Cher were in rotation while Celine took a break. The last time I spent an evening with Bette it wasn't at home--on my 18th (Leap Year birthday) I spent it with her at the American Airlines collisium--of course there were a 'few' other people there when she sang "Happy Birthday" to me (she did!)--when Bette and I spend a night together (virtual TV?) it's not 'staying at home' LOL |

New Year's Eve and day are never really planned for anything here. |

Yeah, New Years Day is a day of rest around here too...do you guys wait up until midnight and bang pots and pans or anything to ring in the new year? |

Hell no. lol! If we did that, my son would get the idea to make all that noise all the time. lol! Besides, even though we live in a house, our landlady lives upstairs (she's in her 80's and has lived here since she was born) and goes to bed around 9pm. That would be a no-no. lol! |

So it's a quiet welcome for the New Year's...that's cool. It must be a drag having the landlord living upstairs, is it? We lived in a place where the owners were living in the house out front and we rented the double wide in the back and it was a drag to have them so close, always watching us... |

Actually it is not so bad. She is pretty with the times and the holidays are always pretty cool because she will most of the time, bring down some home made cookies, banana bread or what-have-you. We have been here for over 10 years now and she is like a grandma to us. When her husband was alive, they used to own an Italian restaurant (She is Italian through and through). Now she has a "man friend" who is just as nice but they don't live together. She's a nice lady, but like any of us when we get older, she can be set in ways. She doesn't complain about any noise that we make during like the 4th of July and things like that, because this block is hopping with people getting out of their cars and watching the fireworks. We can see them in our backyard. She doesn't mind my son's noise either. I guess she is more into noises like alot of bass and the pots and pans (at least I am assuming on that one. lol!) |

I haven't gone out on New Years Eve in many, many years--probably more than thirty....I'm with peter, it's Amateur Night--all kinds of people out there that only drink once or twice a year, and don't know how to drive when they're drunk.... Also 30 some years ago, a friend of mine was coming to my place late one NY Eve, after the bars closed. She never made it. Her boyfriend went off the road, hit a tree and she was killed. At this point I'm planning on just the family...maybe do a nice snack tray in the afternoon, with some dips, chips, crackers and so on...I'm thinking of putting a big pot of chili in the crock pot for later in the evening... Since I'm the only one in the household who drinks, I will of course be enjoying a few, or more than a few cocktails... I seldom can stay up long enough to watch the ball drop! I'm not planning on company...unless a couple of people decide to invite themselves...lol |

I think God is telling me to get off my duff and get to work! We will have Christmas again with older Daughter and her family. The lttle ones with have white grape juice in champagne glasses (we make a big deal about just one glass) lol! They are usually the only 2 going strong at midnight. Maybe we should all have white grape juice! LOL! |

I get on-call emergency duty Friday morning. All should be quiet at the health department since we'll be closed on Friday and the weekend. I guess I'm just going to hang out at the house with my lunatic cat and munch on some more of those bar-b-que wings. (I'm sensing a pattern here) I also have a custom of calling my mom at midnight too, she actually waits up for it. |

I'm usually in Hawaii at my brother's place for New Years. I guess I could have flown back to Vegas earlier than I am and celebrated it there but I decided to just stay home here in CA as I'm not here all that much now. Okay, I'm saving a bundle of money as well. This year really sucked business wise for me but next year is looking good. Have a great new year!!! |

But of course! Rum is mostly what I drink, too...usually with seltzer and splash of cream soda. I know...it sounds disgusting but it's actually pretty good. I used to do it with coke, but I got to where the caffeine in the coke gave me problems sleeping. |
