This poll brought to you by Blogster Polls

Do you think blogster has the potential to get REALLY BIG (like Yahoo!, Facebook, etc.) or will it stay the size it is now?

  • Yes, I think it will grow and I like it
  • Yes, I think it will grow but I don’t like it
  • I don’t have an opinion on this at all
  • No, it won’t grow any larger and that’s fine
  • No, it won’t grow any larger and that’s too bad

Many of you know how much I think of blogster and their great efforts to provide a very user friendly site jam packed with lots of cool features, but it got me to thinking; will blogster ever grow so big that it will become an industry standard by which others will model themselves on? Will blogster gain the stature, the notability of say a Facebook, myspace or even Yahoo? What do you think and why do think what you think? As blogster continues to grow and develop, do you embrace these changes or are you satisfied with the status quo and prefer the intimacy of the site now? My own opinion is that blogster will grow and could achieve an industry status similar to other very large Social Media/Networking sites and I like that; especially I like being here now, while it’s still relatively intimate. So what do you think?

I'm biased...i know {#basic-laugh.gif}

You are, but your thoughts are still important!

Thanks for voting!

I hope it does grow, I think that would be great. I have facebook and myspace, but don't spend half the time there as I do here...

Same here, I have both myspace and facebook and don't enjoy the time there as much as I do here...Go Blogster!

It might grow IF they can do the improvements without all the bugs...and the attacks (not bogger against blogger but the ones from outside)and the spam....

You're right...working out the bugs would be key to their growth. Spammers and attacks are, I believe, part of the territory.

Thanks for stopping by Nota!

The spammers I mentioned are not so much the ad spammers that we see on a daily basis- though those are a pain-as the ones that took the site downs a few weeks ago. There were HUNDREDS of ad sites put up in minutes and it swamped Blogster so badly it crashed.

The dangers of the WildWildWeb...Team is doing a great job handling it though, let's give them kudos!

How are those kittens?

d'p, Seem to have been moved...I haven't seen Momma recently.

yep, I spend way more time here than on facebook.

lol... good morning charlie! {#basic-laugh.gif}

good morning Rica!!!!{#thumbs_up.gif}

If blogster had the wall and immediate update kind of stuff happening like FB, i think i would be here even more....

You surviving the rains alright Charlie?

think I'm getting cabin fever! lol. It should be dry by tomorrow afternoon and for Sunday. Where we are we get a lot of rain, but I'm not in any danger of mudslides or flooding...at least I don't think! We've been in this house for 21 years, and I'll tell you, the last couple of days I've seen some weather I never saw before!!

That's good to hear...I saw some terrible footage this morning and thought about all my California friends...Good to hear you're doing okay!

thanks, it's better today. The rain is much lighter and should be over by tomorrow...until minday and Tuesday...*sigh* lol

It's only going to grow if people are allowed to express themselves freely on their own blogs without worrying about the complaints of infantile adults jeopardizing their accounts.

You're right about that, this site works when it is a free forum and everybody/anybody can express what they wish...perhaps, like people, blogster learns from thier mistakes too.

Thanks for making the comment and putting focus on this import issue!

Have a great weekend!

we're all still here, if that means anything. I don't think they've ever been mad at me for my blog, just what I say on other peoples blogs, or in a private message that some whiner has to bring public. Other than that I think we're pretty free to say what we want in our blogs.

Then why did I get a thirty day suspension for setting up a private group, Charlie?

All the other things I said (in anger...and you know what they are) were said AFTER my suspension began. And they weren't said in blogster, but in yahoo, which should have NO bearing on blogster account status.

And no, I'm not still here.  Not really.  I have to use a proxy to sign in because they've range banned my real IPs, and I'm not posting any original material until I can sign in without loading a proxy server.  Even then I may not, I'm still conflicted about the entire scenario.

little whip, your struggles are something I find inspiration in; I have yet to be banned or anything, but the rebel in me can see and feel your struggle...hang in there. You matter, your efforts matter and win you win your battle, you'll have made an important contribution to this place as a community.

But then again, I'm biased...

I honestly have no idea. I never joined so I have no idea what was going on in there. I didn't know you where using a proxy server either, I just thought you changed your name, and came in that way. Interesting. I researched a few proxy servers myself, chose not to go that way, but I wasn't range banned either.

You were still under suspension yourself when a lot of this came down, but I'm quite sure you were aware of what was going on.  If you care to discuss why I feel that way, we need to take it to PMs please.

And as of today, the range-ban was lifted.

Thanks, dp.  Once bit, twice shy, and I still haven't decided what I want to do here, if anything, anymore.  If I vacate and take up blogging elsewhere, I want it to be because *I* decided to, not because I was suspended over a rule that did not even exist when I allegedly broke it.

as long as we're getting along, everthing else can be water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. Good for you that the ban was lifted today. If you feel you need to PM me feel free other wise I would just as soon let by gones be by gones at this point, if thats cool with you.

Yup, that's more than cool with me.  It's a bit of a relief in fact.  Still have one more to make peace with, and he's resisting mightily, although he did admit I made him laugh when I called him 'dude' earlier in the week.

That's a start.

as the 3 stooges used to say...inch by inch, step by step... Moe! Larry! Cheese!! (big stooge fan!)

Stop before you're accused of calling him a stooge!

LoL.

he's a good guy, just older and stuck in his ways, there's a few of them here that way. I've learned to either stay away or ignore it from them. That's all anyone can do. Remember...water/bridge/flowing under. That's the easiest way right there.

What I want for my birthday!

THREE STOOGES - 183 films - boxed set

79.95, not bad.

photo didn't take, but Ican see it's the box set of the Stooges. Does it have the original Curley, the other ones and Shemp? I really liked Shemp!

If Blogster had the games like Facebook...oh I would be here even more. I used Facebook for games and things like that for the most part.

Blogmom...feel free to add me to your FB and to any games you play. I play most of the more popular ones...FV...FT...Pet Soceity...YoVille..one or two fish games..on and on and on. I'll send you a mail with my name in it. Already have a few bloggers here as friends.

See, that's one of the things at FB i don;t get into to, the games...I just don't have time for it! But mee too, add me if you're so inclined...and thanks for weighing on the issue!

I got it. I play farmville, yoville, super frackle, and things like that.   added you!

I hope it grows and becomes one of the top sites in the world. I like it here...I realized just how much after a self-imposed suspension. I missed interacting with people and I believe that is the key to its popularity...to meet and exchange ideas/opinions/stories and learn from everyone. I've learned a lot..not only about others but about myself too. I'm voting with the 70%.

Yes, this is something I felt while you were gone...missed you. This is a community and as such, we are all neighbors, we people this place and make it what it is, for whatever its worth, I too hope it continues to grow and develop...thanks for your comments Maria!

I'm not sure if bigger is always better. I'd be happy if it was double or triple the size. But eventually the ads would be everywhere or paying members maybe wouldn't have to put up with them while nonpayers would...just like my gamesite Pogo..I've watched it grow from infancy into a fun game site.

I've thought about that too...if it gets too big, we all get lost in the minutia of a very popular place. This is a small village now but if it grows into a city size, we might lose the sense of intimacy we feel at present...Thanks for adding to the conversation, Cats...and I love your avatar icon!

LOL, was the title inspired by Molly? I am sure blogster will get bigger. It is a fun site. I do think it would be a mistake for them to copy myspace or facebook. If it comes to myspacey or facebooky it won't be a blog site. One of the nice things here is that so far the site is a BLOG site with social networking.... I would hate to see it become a social network site with a little blog thrown in, and that would be the temptation if one is going to start to copy a social network site. Blogster should stay blogster, they have a good think going here with the blogs and notifications. Actually a long time ago if you clicked on a notification it took you right to that comment... not to the bottom of all the comments. Also when someone replied to a comment, that replay went right under the comment, not at the end of the other replys, anymore it is often times hard to find a reply to a comment on a popular post and once several people get replying it makes no sense whatsoever because all the replys are out of order and their is no way to tell who is replying to who. To me the smarter thing to do would not be try to make the site huge, it would be to make the site great, huge will come with greatness and you won't loose all your old timers on the way.

Right, there's a delicate balance going on and blogster needs to remain a blogging place, not too full of games and what not...I'm sure you've seen the development of this site from a far longer perspective than I have and though I may be an old-timer (chronologically), I'm relatively new here. But I see the changes, subtle as they may be, and I think it's great too!

As always, I cherish your input (not to mention your great images) and thank you for your insights! have a great weekend!

Not if they dont fix things for folks that dont work. But yes if they want to they can.Must be a fair site though.

You're right, of course...fairness is all tings.

love your new Avatar, is that the cover of your new book?

Yes, well a part of the cover...Thanks!

Don't care either way.
