Get Back

Those who know me understand that I have this fascination and love for the music and message of The Beatles. In fact, in my own little personal belief system, I make a ritual of playing only Beatles music on Sunday, and each week I pick a song (or the song picks me) and it becomes something like a sermon; it’s the message of the day. This is today’s sermon song, “Get Back” and it’s relevant to our current housing crisis and symbolic of how things change. You see, this song, “Get Back” was the original title of the album it was featured on, “Let It Be” and through the course of making the album and accompanying film (of the same title), things changed and the Beatles ended up breaking up and so the title and theme of the record album was changed to reflect the fact that this would be the last Beatle album, “Let It Be” (released 5/8/70), a month after the band broke up. Most of this album was recorded in January of1969 but the project was shelved and The Beatles would work on and release “Abbey Road” in the meanwhile; the album was re-issued in 2003 as “Let It Be…Naked” and featured much better mixes of the original album and is my personal preferred version of this album. So that’s the Beatles history lesson for the day, from your friend, Professor Moptop…enjoy!
Another reason why I’m grooving on this song is because it reflects how I feel with regards to our personal situations. Without going into details (d’Tales) over it, I’ve come to the humble conclusion that we need to get back to where we once belong; in our hearts, not the physical domain we occupy, but in our soul, we need to get back to where we once belong and that was in a place where we are most comfortable; in one another’s Love. I am letting go of the anxiety of our housing crisis and I’m going to get back to where I once belonged; in a happy spot, thinking about nothing but Love and content with the faith that all things will work out as they should. I am listening to my music nice and loud, getting lost in the melodies and nodding my head with the beat. I am feeling relaxed, knowing we will prevail no matter what the outcomeof the house deal is, we will be the winners because we have nothing to lose. I’ve heard it said that “freedom” is just another word for nothing to lose and that’s how I choose to feel today…free from the shackles of worry, free from the stress of the moment and free as a bird in terms of my heart and soul. This is, after all, Sunday; a day for God.
Our abode is a mess! I am going to do some cleaning today but at present I am sitting at the table in the dining room, amidst boxes of pack items, piles of stuff that has yet to find a place and I need to get a grip on this mess before it cripples us and causes some kind of insanity! I’m not a “neat freak”, but I can’t stand the messiness, it’s distracting and hard to function when everything is askew. I am not watching the Superbowl, I have no interest in it whatsoever, not even in the commercials. Especially not the commercials, actually, I hate the onslaught of “clever advertising” that comes each year. I just don’t like commercials in general, I guess…but whatever, I am going to get busy with my day and though I’ll be logging into this site on and off today, I simply wanted to share this song with you and hope that you take care, be well and staycool!

My wifey is very well organized with this...she even has the boxes numbered and logged in a notebook! I hate the process, but on some level, it's exciting too! |
No kidding about the dust! Man, we have a lot of dusty stuff! That's the same saying my FIL says, we are learning that lesson as of late! Have a GREAT DAY TODAY!!!! |
