About Me

“Keep Yer Dobber Up!” is a semi-biographical coming of age story, set in the late 1970's about a kid who grows up with manic depression (bi-polar disorder) and the steps he takes to over come and deal with his obstacles. This graphic portrayal of a boy becoming a man while chasing the rock and roll dream of fortune and fame is based in author d'Philip Chalmers' life experiences and details his adventures to find Ken Kesey and The Merry Pranksters only to find, in the end, it's all up to him to keep his dreams alive, to keep his dobber up! Told in the first person narrative, this is the second novel from d'Philip (“SCHLEP”, published in 2010 by The Intrepid Editor Press) and is the first book of a trilogy that examines the developmental arc of manic depression while, at the same time, providing a first person account of the experience in a unique and original style. Chalmers, also a screenwriter, is working on several other projects with his partners at Mother Road Media Dreams including the sequel to this book (“Without Love in The Dream”) which will be released in the summer of 2012.
