The reluctant preacher

Jeremiah 20:9

Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

OT prophets were strange dudes, they went through a lot of crap that we are not asked to do..yet. However preachers of Gods Word share one common bond. We are given messages to give,  and people to give them to. These messages are most often not sugar and spice.

Sometimes even we get weary of giving them. What's the point of continually telling seemingly deaf ears that YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!

Have they not already heard?

So sometimes we just want to shut up. Say happy stuff. Pretend that sin isn't ravaging even the saints. You know, eat drink and be merry..Luke 12:19.

Things however are not right. We believers are living as Lot. We live comfortably with sin, in ours and others lives, this ought not be. Do a self check..are your really in Christ? Only you and God know this for sure. If the answer is no, get it right while you still can. If the answer is truly yes, then instead of getting mad when your sin is pointed out by God through his servant, instead of quickly pointing out how flawed the servant or not, acknowledge that the Word itself is true ( if indeed it is the WORD being.. your job hearer is to check Gods Word daily to see if what you are being told is true. ) and if it is then repent, confess and move on.

The world isn't interested in false Christianity, it see's that everywhere. Suits and ties on Sundays do not a believer make. Be real, it's all you can be.

Now the unbeliever scoffs  at the message outwardly, but things are going on internally. First they are being convicted of their sin of unbelief., They are being shown their eternity, they are being shown their sin, they are being shown their hope, and they are brought to a point of personal decision.

But we are not called to concern ourselves with what people think of us, whether people praise us or not. In fact when people are falling over us with pats on the back is perhaps when we should worry the most.

So thank you one and all, especially those who call me preachy. I am a reluctant preacher, but I will. It is my job, it is my call, and it is my concern, I'd rather have you hate me for telling you the truth, then love me for giving you a lie.

And if you do think I am over critical, consider this, I get beaten up far worse then you do, because before I preach to you, God preaches to me.. talk about your fire and brimstone sermons!

I have often said I do not have to be told when I am wrong- that little voice inside me yells out strong and clear. I KNOW when I am wrong. I KNOW how to correct what I have done wrong......sometimes pride or embarrassment gets in the way of my saying "I WAS WRONG".....then that voice kicks me around the block until I get the message. God will not let me ignore His voice.

Yes, things are going on internally...even if they do not show on your face.

God knows each and everyone of us.
