No Matter

No matter what you do,

No matter what you say,

No matter where you go,

Someone will always say

That you were wrong.

You can try repeatedly

to apologize.

You can try repeatedly

to explain.

You can try repeatedly

to ask forgiveness.

But they will still say

That you were wrong.

You can watch them

Do the same thing.

You can hear them

Say the same thing.

You can see them

Go to the same place.

And still they will say

That you were wrong.

So, you pick yourself up.

So, you dust off your boots.

So, you wipe the tears from your face.

So, you say, "What the hell."

So, you plaster the smile in place.

But still they will say

That you were wrong.
