A Prayer of Thanksgiving

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

The Tree of Life symbolizes the balance and harmony of the natural world.

Remember the trust attached to the rich inheritance which we have received from our forefathers.

Thankfulness is the quality of being thankful for all that one possesses. One should be grateful for all that he or she has and never complain about anything. Life is rewarding to all those people who show gratitude for all their possessions. Life is a strange and a humdrum affair where even a few moments of peace snatched should probably be gratefully acknowledged and everything that comes our way should be accepted with dignity and thankfulness. Those who always complain all the time and are never thankful for whatever they have will always stay dissatisfied and unhappy in life. Contentment and thankfulness are two major necessities for a happy and fulfilling life. In the words of Henry Van Dyke, “Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.”

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Thanks be to thee for the gifts thou hast given me.
Each day and night, on land and sea
Each weather, fair, wild, or calm
For thine eye to keep from harm
For each hour, its ebb, its flow
For thine arm around me so
For each gift thanks be to thee
The best gift is thyself to thee.
(A Scottish Prayer)

A Blessing

May you have -
Walls for the wind
And a roof for the rain,
And drinks bedside the fire
Laughter to cheer you
And those you love near you,
And all that your heart may desire.
(Scottish Blessing)
