Winter The Dolphin
For those of you that have seen the movie "Dolphin Tale," you know who Winter is. For those of you that havent, She is a dolphin who, as a baby, got her tail stuck in some netting, and stranded. The tail couldn't be saved, so her flukes had to be amputated. She survived this ordeal and now prospers at the Clearwater Aquarium in Florida. She was also the star of the "Dolphin Tale" movie.
Ever since the release of this movie, tourists have flocked to the aquarium to see Winter the disabled dolphin in the flesh. this is great and everything, but the Clearwater Aquarium has taken this fame and turned it into exploitation.
Winter now performs 3 shows daily, 7 days a week. How is this the proper way to treat a dolphin with special needs?! The huge amount of people watching her everyday have been detrimental to her well-being, and some people are starting to notice. In this video, Winter's story is told, along with some sad footage of her up against the gate of her tank, trying to escape the noise and crowds.
I'm not saying we should release her into the wild, which is obviously a death sentence for Winter, I'm just saying that maybe the aquarium should put a limit on the amount of visitors to Winter's area at a time, and Not force her to perform for shows, but use other, less stressful alternatives to getting excersize for Winter.

Today, wedding dresses are all different; no-one wants to look the same as the next bride and, naturally, brides go to extreme lengths to make sure that they stand out from the crowd. Of course everyone wants to do so in a classy and not trashy way! It seems that individually designed wedding dresses are the way of the future. By commissioning a made to measure dress you can make sure that it fits perfectly, is exactly what you want and above all, is unique. |
