About Me
Usually to be found by the name of Ian R Thorpe (ianrthorpe) online to avoid confuion with the Australian swimmer, I am the original Ian Thorpe, five feet seven, non swimming these days and somewhat less wealthy. A former Information Technology consultant, retired prematurely following catastrophic health failure. I now fill my time by writing and creating web content.
My subject matter can range from philosophy and social comment, via politics and current affairs right through to surreal humor but I never hide from controversy. Be ready for an varied ride.
If you are wondering about the blog name, an eft is a young newt and a Boggart a mischievous water spirit. When I appointed Jenny Greenteeth, the north of England's most famous boggart as CEO (Chief Ectoplasmic Officer) of my online empire, thinking of a former colleague who used water analogies to describe how electrical currents flowed around networks, I named my first blog Boggart Blog. When she manifests physically at Boggart Blog Jenny is half human, half newt.
As this is the latest offspring from that early beginning, Boggart Eft seemed as good a name as any ... and I'm pretty sure no one else is using it.
