Our human minds aren't able to comprehend what heaven will be like. even the people who  wrote the Bible weren't able to describe it! Ezekiel's description of  it is filied with phrases such as "what appeared to be" and "what looked like" [Ezekiel 1:26-28]. Even John's description of heaven in the book of Revelation [see chapter 4],  as majestic as it sounds, is limited. But David tells us, in Psalm 16:11,  "You will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. " So what we do know is that , in heaven, God will fill us with delight.  The joy we experience on earth is only a faint shadow of what we will  experience there. In her book Heaven: Your Real Home, Joni Eareckson Tada offers this thought: When we  see a road sign that says "Chicago 50 miles,"  we don't think that the road sign is Chicago itsellf. In the same way, whenwe see the road signs--or descriptions--that John, Ezekiel, David, and others give us, we shouldn't  mistake those signs for heaven itself (Tada,21). The  Bible gives us the symbols, but we must use our faith to imagine conversing with the angels, enjoying pleasures we've never known, and living in a place where God himself dwells. Heaven must be incredible. After all, Jesus Christ was willing to die just so we could join him there.
