Creative & Effective Ways to Utilize Your Small Spaces

Small apartments come with both perks and pitfalls. Living in a small apartment will allow you to save some money on your monthly rent. Why spend the extra money to rent a larger apartment when it’s just you in there most of the time? This can enable you to live in the area where you truly want to be without breaking the bank.

The obvious downside to renting a smaller new apartment home is that you will have less space to call your own. This means there is less space for having your friends over for dinner, less space for entertaining your family, and less space for storing all of your belongings. But the good news is that there are several creative and effective ways that you can utilize every inch of your small space.

Be Choosy About What You Allow in Your Apartment

When you are dealing with a limited amount of space, it is important to only allow things into your apartment that you truly love and use. Those old magazines from last year? They have to go. That chair that you have never really like but you kept it because your favorite aunt gave it to you? Time for it to go. All of those clothes that might fit you again one day? It’s time to donate or sell them. You have to be picky about what you decide to keep in your luxury apartment so that you can create a space that is soothing, inviting, and enjoyable.

Remove Your Closet Doors

If your closet doors swing into the room, you may want to consider removing them so that they don’t continue to take up some of your valuable floor space. But this doesn’t mean you have to keep your closet open for everyone to see. Simply install a suspension rod, and hang a simple curtain to cover the contents of your closet.

Take Advantage of the Space Under Your Bed

There are plenty of plastic storage containers and baskets on the market today that are specifically designed to fit under the bed, and these should be a top priority on your list of things to purchase. Under your bed is the perfect place to store linens, extra blankets, towels, bulky winter clothes – or anything!
