Animal 'Teachers'...and Quotes
Life is as dear to a mute creature as it is to man. Just as one wants happiness and fears pain, just as one wants to live and not die, so do other creatures.
Our task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened.
An animal's eyes have the power to speak a great language.
Man is the only animal that laughs and weeps; for he is the only animal that is struck with the difference between what things are and what they ought to be.
We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals... In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.
Lots of people talk to animals.... Not very many listen, though.... That's the problem.
Animals are reliable, many full of love, true in their affections, predictable in their actions, grateful and loyal. Difficult standards for people to live up to.

I think windancer posted this once and my thought was how did the man who brought him home know the dog wouldn't bite or attack the little chimp? |
The man works with animals that's how he got the baby chimp. He thought he'd just take care of it. However his dog that just had babies didn't seem to mind one one. |
