I have no words for this, so I will let the Newspapers speak for me:

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday refused to guarantee that he will transfer power if he loses the November election, earning scorn from his Democratic challenger Joe Biden and even from within his own party.

"Well, we're going to have to see what happens," Trump responded when asked at a White House press conference whether he is committed to the most basic tenet of democratic rule in the United States -- the peaceful handover of power upon a change of president.

Biden, who holds a steady lead over the Republican incumbent in opinion polls ahead of the November 3 vote, expressed incredulity.

"What country are we in?" the former vice president said, when asked about Trump's comment by reporters.

"Look, he says the most irrational things. I don't know what to say."

Republican Senator Mitt Romney, a frequent but rare party critic of Trump, went further, saying that any hesitation on the core constitution guarantee was "unthinkable and unacceptable."

"Fundamental to democracy is the peaceful transition of power; without that, there is Belarus," he tweeted.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden questioned President Trump's refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power on Wednesday.

Asked about the president's remarks during his briefing, Biden told reporters, "What country are we in?"

"I'm being facetious. I said, what country are we in? Look, he says the most irrational things. I don't know what to say," Biden added, according to a pool report.

During a White House briefing, Trump refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power should he lose the November election, instead once again sowing doubt about the security of mail-in ballots.

"We're going to have to see what happens, you know, but I've been complaining very strongly about the ballots. The ballots are a disaster," Trump said when asked if he would commit to making sure there is a peaceful transition of power.

Pressed on the question, Trump said there would be no need for a transition of power without mail-in ballots.

"Get rid of the ballots and you'll have a very peaceful - there won't be a transfer, frankly. There will be a continuation," Trump said. "The ballots are out of control. You know it, and you know who knows it better than anyone else? The Democrats know it better than anyone else."...

Trump's comments were publicly questioned by at least one member of his own party Wednesday night. Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) tweeted that the peaceful transition of power is "fundamental to democracy" without directly addressing Trump.

"Fundamental to democracy is the peaceful transition of power; without that, there is Belarus. Any suggestion that a president might not respect this Constitutional guarantee is both unthinkable and unacceptable," Romney tweeted Wednesday night.

Look, I am speechless over this one!!

Frankly I do not know what to say....but I personally think Romney got this one right!   I really wish Journalist would stop asking Trump this question!!

Yeah, asking him the question at this point is just redundent.  Don't ask, just that he is saying he won't willingly accept the will of the people, because we all know that he will claim, in all likielihiod, that it was rigged unless he wins.

Knowing that, there is no point or need to ask.

It going down the Rabbit Hole with him!!

Alice in Wonderland!!{#basic-laugh.gif}

yeah, I have no desire to go down a rabbit hole...we have been down enough.  I want some sort of sane government starting in Jan of 2021.

Massive fraud to match incredible propaganda and violent intimidation coming from the Left this election season.

Disagreement over election results is inevitable, particularly given the opposition, obfuscation and outright lying of the perverse press.

Disputed election results means no quick or easy concession speeches by either side

1der all of that might be true....but there is no excuse whatsoever for anyone involved in a Presidential Election in this Country not to agree to a "Peaceful Transfer of Power"!

He was not asked whether he would agree before final results were determined...he was asked whether he would agree to a peaceful transfer of power, full stop!!

And what is this mess that get rid of the ballots and you'll have a peaceful transfer....what do the ballots have to do with it?

We can have disputed elections and have had them....but we always clearly state that we will agree to a peaceful transfer of Power!

This was shameful on Trumps Part....and hard for anyone to defend!

Thanks for your comment!{#basic-laugh.gif}

President Trump expects the election to be decided by the Supreme Court.

I totally understand all that, but again, that was not what he was asked!!

He was asked about a Peaceful Transfer of Power...and asked several times!

He clearly understood the question.  He is saying that the only way the transfer will be peaceful is if he wins!!

In what world is that acceptable from anyone running for President in this country?

POTUS Trump is not saying: "...the only way the transfer will be peaceful is if he wins!!" Rather, he is saying that so many Americans are ignorant of what constitutes justice (and a large part of the ignorance is willed ignorance)  - including people like you, evidenced by your characterization of the question - are inveterately unconcerned with a process that will devolve into chaos, because they believe chaos is to the advantage of their power aspirations! When one understands that - as POTUS Trump does - one understands the question is only asked to beat (flay) Trump in the wake of the chaos that is nearly certain to follow the November 3rd election. Peaceful transition, and minimization of voter fraud can only take place by voter ID, absentee ballots and voting on cite at one's local precinct. Anyone opposed to that wants the opportunity to vote many times and create ballots from thin air... It isn't hard to understand - for a just individual - why Democrats, the Press and social-political Leftists desire so a confused process...

tj that is not me saying it....it was Trump, it was on Live TV....and as much as I respect you, you cannot know what is in his heart, you can only go by what he said.  Now he had plenty of time to correct himself but he hasn't!

I fully understand all of the concern about the election....but the bedrock of our form of government is the Peaceful Transfer of Power.....period full stop!

All the man had to say to that question was "YES"!!

In a separate agrument like has has done before and will do in the future is talk about fraud and etc.

But even you have to agree with Mitch McConnell and Mit Romney that the only answer to the question of whether or not there will be a Peaceful Transfer of Power after the Election is "Yes"!!

By the way as you might know.....Election Results are not final until the Electoral College Meets....sometime around Dec 8th.  So there is plenty of time to all of the complaints.

Thanks for your comment!{#basic-laugh.gif}

What TJ said.

The Constitution is under attack by bad actors foreign and domestic.

Conceivably there could be arrests of those involved and directing sedition and treason.

Hopefully this will not occur.

1der again I completely understand what you and tj are saying, but that has nothing to do with the question he was asked!!

He was asked whether he will commit to a "Peaceful Transfer of Power"...and the questioner said "Win, Lose or Draw".....he was not asked whether he would concede before a final decision.  He was simply asked whether he will commit to a "Peaceful Transfer of Power".....which is a most American of beliefs!!!

Ronald Reagan even said during his Inaguaral Speech in 1981 that a Peaceful Transfer of Power is the Bulwark of our Republic!!

To that question when asked every President in our history has said "Yes"!!!

Saw the clip of POTUS Trump - to which you refer; it is as I judged! Analogue of that question is put to Jesus when 'he is brought a woman "caught in adultry" and asked if she should be stoned.' The question was put to Jesus - so as to entrap him (Of course Jesus Answers: 'Let he that is without sin, cast the first stone...') - and that is, as I indicated earlier, why POTUS Trump was asked the question. And it is because most people - in this culture-of-death - are inveterately unjust that this is even made an issue. If Americans were just, they would make themselves informed not only regarding facts, but regarding motivations. Moral people are obliged to understand the moral law (those that deny an objective moral law - consciously - or otherwise - assert the absurdity of justice; for them "justice" is might-makes-right...), and know what they are obliged to do, and know what others are obliged to do, and judge them accordingly {Note in contradistinction to all of the modern anti-Christian Christians, Jesus requires - "just judgment," rather than non-judgment - from his followers...}. If Americans spent their leisure time studying those things necessary for self-governance, we would have a considerably different country.

Trump’s answer to the question intimates he presupposition that social-political Leftists and Democrats will use every legal, and illegal, method they can imagine to gain power; thus, POTUS Trump anticipates that the election will not be decided at the ballot-box, at least not if Democrats, the main-stream Press and sundry social-political Leftists can work their wicked designs…

Cordially, tjd

tjd......that has absolutely nothing to do with the question he was asked!!

If he misunderstood the question he had plenty of time to have his Press Secretary to correct the record!

There was a resoulation that passed the Senate today with all Senators voting in support of a Peaceful Transfer of Power being the Bedrock of our Constitutional Republcan.  As I said to 1der above....look at Reagans Inaguaral Speech where he reaffirmed this princple!

This is a very simple question and as an American President it is a very simple anwser: "yes"!!

Because the opposite answer presupposes that there will be a "Violent Transfer of Power"...which on its face is a most UnAmerican thing to say!

Put aside all of the theories of what he may have intended to say!  Put aside all of the theories about what the Radical Left is up to!  Put aside all of the theories about the Socialist Conspiracies and the Deep State!

There was no intent to entrap Trump.....he was not asked whether he would concede before all ballots are counted....he went there!!  Heck, he was not asked about the details of the Election process at all.

He was simply asked whether he would commit to a "Peaceful Transfer of Power"?

What is so hard about that question?  What does he give up by saying "Yes".  Let me propose to you a simple answer he could have given:

Yes, I do commit to a Peaceful Transfer of Power, once all is said and done!  But I submit to you that before that time comes we have a lot of work to do.  Personally I believe that the Supreme Court will make the final decision on this election.  You know how I feel about those Mail In Ballots and there is rapid Election Fraud!  But to the question of a Peaceful Transfer for Power...of course I will commit to that, what a dumb question!

Please explain what's wrong with my response?  This is a very simple question...the answer is always "Yes"!!

Thanks for your comment!{#basic-laugh.gif}

"Willed ignorance" is an impossibility. People cannot possibly deliberately lack knowledge of anything.

You're a pretty stupid person, ain't ya Donegan.

...every other president has said yes...

Which makes me so thankful President Trump is in office. Faced with the prospect of foul trickery, he has the instinct and the courage to do what he must to fulfill his responsibilities to our nation - the oath of office he took

Hi again, AMOD!

What you wrote would be fine, but one of POTUS Trump's short-comings is a mercurial personality; he rightfully has come to trust next to no one, since so many - ostensibly on his side have betrayed him. Consequentially, Trump is inclined to treat many questions as invitations to try out a new-fangled gallows or guillotine…  The question is: “Why make an issue of his response, when Trump is perhaps the most law-abiding POTUS the USA has seen is several generations (likely dating to Truman or maybe even Calvin Coolidge…)…? If POTUS Trump was less mercurial, and more articulate, he could easily turn most ploys [and the question regarding peaceful transition is a ploy; what other reason would such a question be posited…?] against him, and against American interests, around on Democrats, social-political Leftist and the Press, whereby they would be publicly exposed and embarrassed; it would not be hard to do, but it requires patient understanding and temperament…

Cordially, tjd

tj...now are that we can agree!{#basic-laugh.gif}

Hello, Oakie!

I’ve been told by many that I am in fact dumber-than-a-blue-nosed-mule, Oakie!

That said: Willed ignorance may easily be demonstrated by an individual that refuses to look at evidence that may change their view/mind. When Bill Clinton was impeached, Democrat Senators refused to look at the evidence Ken Starr - and his investigators had gathered; they we afraid to see; because it may have indicted their souls (imagine finding out your POTUS is actually a rapist...). Such is only one instance of myriad of such things one encounters in every day life; my wife - who cannot be made to acknowledge a fact - even if it is placed before her [she'll actually refuse to see, or hear, anything contrary to what she desires to represent reality...] - has taught me much! I'm sure many men have learned similar things from their women... Such a phenomena/condition is widespread; and such is an attendant condition of a society that tacitly - if not explicitly - refuses to acknowledge an objective reality, because such a reality does not flatter the individual... Those which reject objective reality - implicitly, or explicitly, necessarily assume the role of God - in/of their subjective existence - and are thus, consequentially inveterately unjust; having only a desire to acknowledge truths that affirm them in some fashion...

Cordially, tjd

1der....I understand all of the probable trickery....I really do!

But the question has nothing to do with voting....it is in essence the backrock of our free democratic system.  It is a "Softball" Question!!!

Again, by not saying yes to that simple question he implies that he is for violent transfer of power.  Do you really believe that Trump supports a violent transfer of power?

I don't think so!!  So take that option away from your opponents by saying "Yes"...its real easy!!{#basic-laugh.gif}

He took an Oath to the Constitution...why implies and proposes the concept of a "Peaceful Transfer of Power"!

I agree there is no point to keep asking the question over and over. They had asked it to Hillary Clinton and she said yes and then she whined like a cat on fire. If Trump loses he may whine like a dog on fire, but guess what, he will be out of there just like all the others before him.

Exactly writer!

The issue is not whether or not the election process is fair, that was not what he was asked.  He was asked a simple question.  You got his answer....no need to ask him again.  If he did not understand the question, then he should not be President.  Just don't ask anymore.  {#basic-cool.gif}

Truth Reaction GIF by moodman

MC in your classic style you have I fear hit the nail on the head!

Which is why we do not need to ask the question anymore!

Thanks for your comment!{#basic-laugh.gif}

January 20 will NOT be a quiet day nor the ones leading up to it from November 4!!

I totally disagree!!

This will be decided long before January 20th!{#basic-cool.gif}

Even when he loses???????

I actually am starting to believe so!

His comments of the other day have started to scare a number of people....as they are starting to take him at his word.  The Military is starting to be pressed to clarify its stance on Peaceful Transfer of Power and you had JCOS Milley testify the other day that he committed to maintaining the Military as a Neutral body....that is a good sign!

He will fight to the end even when the Supreme Court with his new appointee tell him to get out---only he is allowed to say "You're fired!"  lol

That the military is now saying that they will remain a Neutral body is a very good sign.  It means that we might just have a chance of getting though this in one peice.

Methinks the Captain of the ship may face a mutiny if he doth push his crew too far.

Trump and his wife Mania floating (for now).

Oakie you are truly back!!!{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}

Wellll, I couldn't keep away. I love this place.{#basic-laugh.gif}

Be sure ro wear a raincoat
