Pride Should Be Reserved for Something You Achieved or Attained on Your Own

Truth is the funniest shit, when it's told right.

And I do believe these three do it right.

Carlin and Hicks would HATE the progressive left, which includes each of these subverted clowns always slobbering hypocrisy on your posts...

One of the best discussions out there today centers around whether or not the modern day left would hate Carlin - and the clear answer is YES, and it would go both ways. He would call them the free speech hating crybaby fascists they are. He would annihilate their war on language. He would expose their sickness brilliantly. And he would be honest enough to admit the Left has completely flipped from their anti establishment positions of his day.

These nationalism bits are about all that's left for you lefties to laugh at. Because to embrace pretty much anything else would be to insult yourselves lol.

And you know it.

For pride, we could also say maybe shame as well. Scarly and I were discussing the collective guilt of modern Germans regarding the excesses of Nazi Germany. But should we when we were not there to "achieve" what it "achieved"?

I really liked George Carlin, bless him. Same goes for Bill Hicks. I wish everyone thought like those guys. I hadn't heard of Doug Stanhope before, but he seems excellent too.

Doug Stanhope is great. Here are a couple of his specials if you want to check them out:

I also recommend reading his two books:

Digging Up Mother and This is Not Fame.

collective guilt of modern Germans regarding the excesses of Nazi Germany. But should we when we were not there

How do you feel about white guilt in America?

Thank you so kindly, Troll! I shall peruse them this very evening.

I think too often "national pride" is a way of saying we are better than anybody else.   For example, the curse of America is the so called "American exceptionalism" idea.  The idea that says that somehow the United States is particularly blessed by man and God more than other countries.

Then the evangelical Christians like to get involved and make things ever worst.  God, they say, loves America and created it as a light unto the world.  Really???

Lets see, extreme racism...with cops killing young black men at a hugely disportionate rate, imprisoning children near the border because their parents were trying to come to this country for a better life.  But somehow the United States can do on wrong.

Our national curse is hyposcrisy and a tendency to say one thing and do another...to say we believe in human rights, and equal rights for all, while disenfranishing a multitude of people.  We have things that we rightly can take some pleasure in having done, but just as equalily there are things that we should, as a nation, be ashamed of.

Funny. I've not read one use of the word "America" in the Bible. Never. Not even once.

As far as equal rights, you reminded me of another Carlin bit:

"“Think of how it all started: America was founded by slave owners who informed us, "All men are created equal." All "men," except Indians, niggers, and women. Remember, the founders were a small group of unelected, white, male, land-holding slave owners who also, by the way, suggested their class be the only one allowed to vote. To my mind, that is what's known as being stunningly--and embarrassingly--full of shit.”

and the nation has been struggling every since to get over the monumental "full of shit"ness of the founders.

That they didn't actually mean the words, doesn't negate the fact that the words were good ones that we would benefit from taking seriously and implementing

Sadly, there are some still alive that still think like those creatures of their time did.

You say the same dumb comment over and over and over and over and over.

While I'm here let me explain something to you since after three days I've stopped laughing...

Remember recently when your shared that "cognitive dissonance" was one of your pet peeves. (btw, I had Rica add that tag you love because of YOU and Charlie LOL). Anyway, when I showed up here you were all citizens united blah blah blah, anti corporation blah blah blah, and now with changes at the state structure, you're zipped lips on those issues since the establishment is corporate.

That, you fuckin' imbecile, IS COGNITIVE DISSONANCE.

You STILL think you're the counterculture. You still think you're against the billionaires and corporations. You're not, you're firmly in their ass.

Full of shitness is your whole MO.

Great work Scott, AKA the world’s most whiny little bitch
