A friend of mine has had a small mouse problem. He was finding a few droppings here and there. He put everything they might be interested in eating in the refrig. Being a bit OCD, he cleaned any and all surfaces with bleach water, floors included.....no mice for several days.

Then he found a single dropping on his kitchen cabinet. He cleaned everything all over again. He went out and bought sticky traps and the next morning he had the little culprit!

Now....he took the mouse outside into some bushes...and WD-40ed his tiny feet and let him go.....he figures the cats will get him before it gets back in his house.

WANNA BET?????? {#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}{#rofl.gif}

Yep, sometimes ya just gotta laugh!

mice are sneaky little things and can fit in the tiniest hole! dealing with a mouse problem here myself. they even come out and peek at me when i am on the computer. maybe I need a bb gun!

I believe in catch and release but after the rat infestation I had at the last house...nope, mice and rats are fair game to cause extinction to!

that is why I am trying to befriend a stray cat, so he can come in and rid me of these mice! plus I want a cat.

Good idea!

The Mouse is God's creature too, but there's a limit to everything.

I agree.

Right feral.  But I don't think in even historical times, they were regarded as pets or a welcome house (tent) guest, in any quanity... {#basic-wink.gif}...something lowly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAH awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwhhhhhh

if he had MY cat, that mouse wouldn't even last a HOUR!! Seriously. I was cooking my son's breakfast when i felt something very light run over my feet. I shrieked and thought it was a roach. I saw my cat run after it and into the kitchen cabinets. MOMENTS later my cat walked out. I just saw a hint of a tail dangling out of her mouth.

Did it end there? NOPE. She wanted to play. So she went to the living room and let go of the frightened mouse. By that time, my son and I were sitting on the table, waiting for her to finish her game.

Everything took around 15 minutes. It ended when the mouse went under the rug. My cat promptly sat on TOP of the lump and waited...and waited...and waited. She tried to claw the rug to get the mouse out. But the mouse was dead. Suffocated I guess.....

Either that or a heart attack. I had a cat that played with our pet hamsters and gerbils. A mouser he was not. Now his Mother...man! We had to bann her from the room when the little ones were out to play...

hahahahahah Wow. A cat playing with hamsters. Now THAT's what I'd want to see.

On my end, we usually have to get to the mouse or else our cat WILL eat that tiny critter.

This cat was just so sweet. He had never been taught to hunt so I guess that is why he didn't. He never bothered my birds either....except to bathe them to the point they were soaked and could not fly....LOL!

hahahahahahahahahaahah I can't imagine! My cat however was afraid of my African lovebird, or so I thought. Each morning, I'd let the love bird out of its cage while I'd walk around the house. It would follow me to the bedroom [walking on the floor]... then to the kitchen, while I cook. The cat would be trailing the bird, trying to get its attention with its paws. The bird would angrily nip at the cat in jealous rage. It's like, while he was around, the cat doesn't get to go near me. Once I'd sit on the dining table, the bird would patiently climb up the chairs and onto the table, fly to my shoulder and demanding to be fed whatever I'd be eating.

Sadly, my son left the cage open when we left the house one day. It did try to follow me out of the house but we were no longer there. I was upset. So was my son. I told him that we will never have a bird as affectionate and expressive as that. It's true though.... he's the only bird I know who would do what it did. Same thing with our cat. Our cat is the only cat I ever had that would hunt mice [and I've had dozens!!!].It was a lesson for my son to take care of pets and that each animal does have its own personality.

Since then, our cat would ALWAYS greet me [without fail] each morning when I come home. She'd follow me to the bedroom...then to the dining room. The same routine the bird would do....

I bet the cat just wanted to play. No claws out, no aggression...

I had to get rid of one bird. My Yorkie would not leave him alone. If the bird moved at all the Yorkie would bark and bark at him... The poor bird was having a nervous breakdown....

awwwh! I didn't know that birds could have those...

Oh, yes they can. This poor bird just shivered and shook all the time.

Those mice are crafty little devils, thanks goodness for cats!

I agree, but he can't have an inside cat and that is what he needs right now.

For years we had mouse invasions every fall.  We would catch a dozen or so between September and March.  At the height of the season I would feel like a character in "Call of the Wild", getting up every morning to check my trap lines.  Since Toothache and his family moved in and brought their two German Shepherds, a Corgi, and a minature Pinscher/Chiuahua mix we haven't seen a single mouse.  Cats ain't the only answer.

No they aren't but I think my two Chihuahua's would run away if they faced a mouse...LOL!

Well, Nota...they really aren't much bigger than a mouse, are they?

No they aren't. Little Boy was scared so badly last year by the rats that I think he would find the nearest hole and crawl in it...:/

Too much trouble to get rid of one mouse!! lol

One of my cats will hunt and catch mice, birds, etc. but he never eats them thank goodness!  yuk!!   A cat will play with it's prey until either the prey gets away or is almost dead.  Then the cat gets bored with it.  Buddy brought a wounded bird in the kitchen last week while I was cooking.  Freaked me out.

The house next door sat empty for a long time and the grass had grown three feet tall in the back yard.   The owners finally came and started doing clean up so they could either sell or rent the place and when they cut the grass I inherited dozens of rats and mice.   They were running through the air ducts and my cats were going ballistic.   We removed several vents. placed traps in them and checked them every morning.  It was disgusting removing dead rodents every day and it took about two weeks, but we managed to eliminate them.  I also placed boxes of pellets in the storage shed and on the porches in places the cats couldn't get to them.  No more rodents!

I took me about 5 weeks to get rid of the rats that invaded my last house and numerous trips by 2 exterminators.....I shot some and chased one out the door with a broom. I can say now I HATE RATS!

They are disgusting little creatures!  I hate them too.

I can't stand a mouse. Thank goodness I don't see any around here. If I did, I would get the old mouse trap out and put some cheese on it and throw mouse and trap away. I couldn't stand the thought of touching them. A mouse is not my thnig.

Not mine either....

I don't like killing things, but we get a gopher in the backyard about every year. I tried the "humane" methods of trying to get them to go away, but they don't work. I could catch them and take them somewhere else. Unless I drove a long way away, that would just put pressure on some other gopher to move in, plus someone owns the lot where I would release it. No win.

Gopher traps work quite well, but they are not very ... nice about doing the catching.

I've actually tried saving the life once of a mouse I got away from my cat and put it outside. My husband told me it would be back in the house in no time. Ever since then it seems the cats take care of business before bringing them to me. We haven't had any mouse problems since we replaced our dishwasher. Poor Bob and Jet are 5 years old now and haven't been able to play with a mouse yet, but they have gotten a few skinks that have come down our chimney. I do my best to save and set them free. So far I've been able to save all but one of them.

Cats do catch on quickly. They are bringing you a present and they know you don't eat them alive....LOL!

My cats will catch and eat rats, mice, snakes, lizards and squirrels.  Several years ago I walked out on the porch, and two kitten--maybe 3-4 months old had a small garden snake.  They each took an end and munched up that snake til they met in the middle.

A couple years ago I came home and found a dead young squirrel on the porch, the kittens were eating him.  They were pretty young, so I'm guessing one of the big cats caught it and brought it to them....but they sure knew what to do with it.

I've many times watched them run up a tree, grab a lizard and have it half eaten before they even get back to the ground.

Our donkeys are sloppy eaters, and usually drop some of their sweet feed on the ground around their pan.  Of course the squirrels love to come eat the sweet grain. Our Siamese kitty lays out there for hours every day, hoping to snag one of them suckers...she's come close a couple of times when I was standing in the living room watching through the window.

I am willing to bet that Amber catches mice etc. outside. I know she has caught lizards, but ol' party poop Mom takes them away if she sees them...LOL! The dogs tease the squirrels....

What a mean mother you are...lol!  Yup, I'd say there's a good chance she catches mice, etc., if she sees them, even if you're not watching.  Most cats are natural predators...even if they don't want/need them to eat, a lot of times it's the thrill of the chase they love.  My cats catch all kinds of things, it's funny to watch them stalk even bugs.

hehehe.....that is so funny and adorable. I can see him greasing down his little feet now!

Too Cute!

LOL! Imagine the mouse coming back and leaving prints on the sticky board...all the way across....

Hehehe {#rofl.gif}

No kids or fur kids in my friend's house....I know moth bals are supposed to keep them out...I will suggest them.
