Poor Little Boy
I took him outside this afternoon to do his business. I have him go down the steps himself, watching to make sure he does not fall.
He had a marvelous time smelling and running his funny little crow hopping run all over the yard after he did his job.
When he and Fancy seemed to be through I opened the gate and said,'Inside, guys.' like I always do.
Fancy and he RAN for the steps with me two steps behind. Normally Fancy will dash up the steps and Little Boy will turn left a step or two into the grass and turn to wait for me to pick him up and carry him inside.
This time he decided to try to jump up the steps. He missed. He cracked his chin on the edge of the steps and fell to the concrete walk. He laid there stunned for a few seconds as I was bent over him talking to him. Then he whined this low, "I am hurt,Mom!' whine. I touched him and asked him to get up. He did after a bit. By that point I knew a trip to the vet was called for but it was not a disaster trip. He had split his chin open and was bleeding heavily. I picked him up and went into the house, grabbed a washcloth, my purse and went out locking the door.
Off we went. I pushed the speed limit a bit but did not break it. By the time I got to the vets the washcloth was getting really red...and it was white which really showed the red.
I went in and the front girl at the desk saw me and got on the phone and told the vet to get out front, RIGHT NOW! She knows me and Little Boy really well and this shook her up. The vet saw Little Boy and sedated him so that they could put a stitch in his chin. They also wired a few teeth together because one was loose and they want to see if it will set back in.
Little Boy gets to eat baby food for a while....
Fancy is on amitriptyline for her nerves, Little Boy is now on pain pills and Mom needs a sleeping pill.

He is feeling better this morning. He refused to sleep with me in bed last night. I guess I was too restless and he was too sore to put up with tossing and turning. |
He is better this morning. Did not even go close to the steps on the way in this morning. He waited for me this time... |
LOL! Chihuahuas' never know how small they are. He is not afraid of big dogs or dogs his own size but let him see one smaller and he runs for Momma. Silly fur kid! |
