I am sorry I haven't responded to your comments on my last post. I will do that as soon as I get a chance.

It turns out that my mother fractured her elbow. On Monday, I took her to see her doctor, he ordered an x-ray just to be safe. Thank goodness he did because it turns out she fractured her elbow.

They called from the doctor's office and told me to take her to the express care in the same facility immediately. I had to go pick her up from daycare and take her. They put a temporary something or another on it and a sling. She has been taking the sling off and hiding it everywhere all week long. It has been so difficult keeping it on her.

Tonight while I was washing the dishes, I heard her making sounds as if she was in pain. I yelled over to her and asked what was wrong. She said nothing I am fine. So I finished the dishes and went to the living room. Here she had taken everything off. The temporary cast, the sling, the bandaging and the sleeve they put on her.

We don't have any surgical tape to reaply the sling. I don't know what to do.

Today was a lousy day at the pizza shop. I only had three deliveries. Me being at the shop meant that I had to help with prep. Boy did I work my butt off today. I only made eight dollars in tips. I have to wait until Monday to get paid for my work.

Oh well, I work again tomorrow. I hope it goes better tomorrow.

I think I'd think about bringing her to the ER for them to repair her cast/sling.  I'm sure they would be more than willing to do that.

For all the work you do at the pizza shop, you should be getting paid waaay more than they pay.  Too bad about the tips though.  Hopefully you'll do better as the week end approaches.

I took her to her Friday orthepedic appointment and the doctor said she doesn't need a cast or a sling. She said that it should heal on its own.

The next day was much better at the pizza shop. I made eighty five dollars in tips.

Well how great that she doesn't need a cast OR sling!

Oh Marissa .... awesome tips!  Good for you.  I'll bet you were thrilled!

I was thrilled. Thank goodness. I was just about out of money.

How are you doing tonight, Dani?

BTW, Anthony and I are talking again. He came over tonight and we ordered pizza. I swore I would ignore him when he came around, but we are such good friends. It was just like nothing happened.

I'm doing much better tonight. I have an ice pack on my knee, and my cortisone shot is doing its job. I hope that it can continue.

It didn't take long for you and Anthony to make up. But that's good, since you and he are such good friends, yall picked up right where yall left off.

Oh dear.   What a worry!  I'm with Dani... you might want to bring her back in, or at least call her dr to see how important the sling and bandages are.

She had an orthepecic appointment on Friday and the doctor said she doesn't need a cast or sling. She should heal on her own.

Dementia patients live in the moment. Each moment your mom has may be different and she won't understand why she has on a bandage and sling.

The pain may be foreign to her and if her elbow hurts, she may decide that it is the sling or bandage.

So keeping the sling on may be a continuous battle for her. She doesn't understand it.

I don't have any easy answers for you.  Just what I am learning myself.

Well it sounds like the job was tough! I was never good at food prep, but love waitressing.

Yes, when she was wearing the sling, each moment was a battle to keep it on. One moment she would agree that she would keep it on and as soon as I wasn't paying attention she would take the sling off and put it somewhere that she never remembered.

Thankfully she won't need a permenant cast. The doctor said it should heal on its own.

Your mum needs to have the cast replaced.  If she doesn't her elbow might not heal right.

l hope tomorrow is a better day at the pizza shop.

Thankfully the doctor said she doesn't need to wear a permanant cast. She said the elbow should heal on its own.

The next day was much better. I made eighty five dollars in tips.

That is good news about your Mums elbow.

Glad you had a better day at work.

Thank you

Here's to a busy weekend, the Browns winning a game, and scads of happy fans ordering Pizza and tipping LARGE!

Hope your mom feels better too.

:)

I only work Wed. and Thurs. but Thurs. was much better. I made eighty five dollars in tips.

She is feeling much better. Thank you.
