Manila/China September 2018 - Chengdu - Panda Research Center

This is my second visit in just over a year to the Panda Research Center in Chengdu.

I posted a blog about the first one in 2017 with lots of photos and a handful of my videos here....

There's lots of better photos on the above 2017 blog if you really want to see how beautiful this place is....just click on the link.

I was happy to visit again because this is the first time for my friends Jo, Paul and Tammy so the day after we visited the bear rescue center, we had to see this place.  After all, who doesnt love pandas!!!

The best time to visit is very early in the morning as soon as the gates open because the queues to buy tickets start getting very long from 9am onwards.

So we arrived just before 8am when the pandas are having breakfast and some were still in their night dens.

as soon as their breakfast is ready they are walked out into their garden enclosures where they are given sugar cane, pumpkin and fruits and sometimes sweet potato to supplement their diets which is normally bamboo leaves and bamboo shoots.

after breakfast some like to take naps....

some like to just climb trees and find a comfortable position to sit

some like to chill around their rockeries and watch the people going by taking photos of them....

some like to lie in the coolest nooks of their enclosures....

the bears in these enclosures were still in their night dens.....

others like to do a little bit of exercise before taking a nap...

all the enclosures have enrichment structures to keep them physically and mentally stimulated...

all the enclosures have little pools for the bears to swim in...

This research center is huge, it has coffee shops, a little theatre, a museum, a visitor center, a gift shop and guides to show you around.

there's beautiful gardens with beautiful flowers and bushes and lots of trees..

and lakes and koi ponds....

It is just on the outskirts of the city of Chengdu and there are high vantage points where you can get a view of the city skyline...

There's lots of places to explore but going down these steps you have to be mindful that the climb back up is a struggle if you're not fit.

My favorite in this whole place is visiting the nursery where you get to see all the babies being bottle fed and then placed in cots to take naps after breakfast.

It is cuteness overload if there ever was one!!!

(to be continued...)

Omg the pandas are so cuuuute!  I could play with those babies all day!  You must of loved this part of your trip very much Maria!  The views are spectacular as well.

I sure did Dani, that's why I didnt mind coming back again after my 2017 visit. I would go back every year if I could.

I see you kept you photos mostly to the bear necessities.

lol...yes I did. I have enough from my previous visit in 2017 so I didnt really bother too much this time. It was overcast and very humid so it wasnt exactly a very pretty day.

Good Morning Maria, great pictures of this place again and the Panda's. Bro. Doc

Good morning Bro Doc, thank you...pandas are one of my most favorite animals in the whole world!!!! {#basic-laugh.gif}

Years ago when my Niece Kattie, was about 4or 5 she got a Panda stuffied animal that was bigger than her. She still has it and is 26 now. They are wonderful animals for sure. Bro. Doc

Maybe not the best pictures you have even taken, at least per your statement but htey stlll look good to me.  My favorite is likely the nursery

it wasnt a very sunny or pretty day. It was overcast and very humid. That's why I didnt bother taking too many photos because I already have heaps from my visit in 2017.  The baby nursery was the absolute highlight for sure!!

Beautiful!  I am not sure I have ever seen a panda in anything other than pictures. This must have been an amazing experience. They must be the cutest and most loveable animals on the face of the earth!

Pandas are considered the cutest by far so I am glad China is doing everything they can to make sure they are not going towards extinction. The babies are so adorable!!

I love pandas.

Me too!!!
