Thank you, WW!   Just got back from mostly grocery shopping...three stores...lol.  I'm exhausted!  Went with niece's dad.  We got into Walmart, he said, "okay, I've got $30 for your birthday present.  Jeans, tops, shoes, whatever you want."  So I told him they had a stick blender with a food chopper attachment that's $30, that's what I want.  (My old one bit the dust a week or so ago, and I can't afford to buy one right now and it's something I use all the time!)  He grumbled and griped...said that doesn't qualify as a birthday present.  Said it should be something frivolous.  I rarely do frivolous.  I'd rather have something I need, or at least something I want.   He bought it for me, but has been harrassing me all day about it...lol

Just picture where the honey place is...I'm a mile and a half straight south of there!  Thanks, I caught a couple of them!

I love it, Allie!  I would love for the cake to fatten me up a bit.  I think I've dropped a couple more pounds from the fit of my jeans...

You've got that right, Kat.  Any time I don't have to cook is a treat in itself for me.  ANd ya oughta see that steak.  A pound of fresh cut boneless ribeye from Publix, 1-1/2" thick for me and niece to split.   I'll be eating my half for the next two days at least.  The rest of them are having top sirloin.  

Well, Big Joe is in there cooking the dinner right now.  I can hardly wait!  Son brought home a beautiful chocolate birthday cake from Publix, and vanilla ice cream.  I just hope I can eat enough to do this beautiful meal justice!

I did force myself, it was soooo  delicious.  I ate more than I've eaten in one sitting in a very long time!  I ate more than half my steak (along with a healthy serving of sauted mushrooms)...I amazed myself with that one!  Plus a twice-baked potato and some broccoli with cheese sauce.  I can't wait to try the cake and ice cream, but there is no way I could even attempt it right this minute....I think that will be a bedtime treat, if I can manage it then...lol

Good for you!!!!   I love sauteed mushrooms in garlic and butter.  Twice baked potatos too!  He went to a lot of work to make a good meal for you so good for him.

We had fried cube steaks with mashed potatos, gravy, broccoli and canteloupe tonight so I am pretty much stuffed myself.

Sauted in butter and garlic with a little splash of red wine.  YUM!  It was an excellent meal, haven't enjoyed a meal like that in a long time.  

We like the country fried cube steaks with milk gravy, too.  I usually serve mine with rice rather than potatoes.  Sometimes I make fried okra with it, as well...but talk about 'heart attack on a plate'....lol  

Save-A-Lot had cantelopes on sale this weekend, but I totally forgot to grab one.  However, I did buy some nice looking Georgia peaches for .97 lb. They should be ready to eat in a day or two.  Might be good on some shortcakes along with vanilla ice cream.  I think as soon as they're ready, that's what I'll make.

I forgot I had green tomatoes in the crisper or I would have fried them instead of having broccoli.   I made an apple pie yesterday and had homemade ice cream left from the 4th and just now ate that!   I haven't bought many peaches this year.  I normally go to the fruit stands and buy a large basket so I can freeze for cobblers during the winter.   This year hasn't been normal.   Too hot and no money either.  Been in a funk.

I always eat more when someone else cooks it too.  Just looking at these pictures and talking about good food makes me hungry for it.  lol 

I like most fried veggies, but do not care for fried green tomatoes...altho I've seen my cats just about rip each other's ears off fighting over them.  I love fried eggplant.  I've never had any of that left over, so don't know if my cats like that too, or not.  

I know what you mean about being in a funk this year.  I've felt that way for quite awhile, too.  Just kind of 'blah' most of the time.

Arkmama, I started that cake about a year ago. I would make a some cake dough and freeze it and I kept doing it all year until I had enough to bake the cake. Then it took about 20 square cake pans to bake it in and then I put them all together and covered them with real think icing all over the cakes and decorated it real pretty and look how big it turned out! There should be enough for everyone!!!! What do you think????  WOO HOO!!!!

My inlaws doctor has given them some meds to increase their appetite.  It is a syrup and when the hub gets home, I will get the name of it for you.  FIL has gained 8 pounds in three weeks and MIL has gained 10!

Oh, cool!  Please let me know what it is.  I'm working on getting an appointment at the clinic in the next couple of weeks, I'll ask him about it.  Hope it's not horrendously expensive!

Not sure what it cost as they have Humana prescription plan but I will find out.  They both look so much better.  They were just skin and bone and no matter what you fix for them to eat, they would just nibble at it.

You are right, Allie.  I need to pull out of my funk and start doing some party posts again.  We all have so much fun with them.  And they don't really even have to be on holidays.  A couple of the funnest parties started with just a really funny post...like the redneck party, where the bubbas originated, and the playboy bunny post.   You also started several with some funny posts.   

I need to just get in gear and get going again!   Keep poking at me and reminding me!  It's time to start having fun again on blogster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well hub got home but doesn't remember the name of the syrup med.  He will call tomorrow and get it from them.  He was telling me that his dad loves watermelon but could only eat a few bites at a time.  He said his dad told him yesterday that he ate 1/4 of a watermelon at one sitting.  they usually eat a bowl of cereal or a small packet of oatmeal for breakfast but now MIL is cooking big breakfasts for them, biscuits, sausage, fried potatoes and gravy.  LOL!  There is such a difference in them, they both seem more alert and energetic.

I could sure go for that!!!!!!!!!!!  Most of the time I can barely manage half a portion if that.   I'm game.  I'm now below 90lbs...last time I weighed, 88, but think I'm a few pounds under that now.  I didn't weigh at the store today, because I really don't want to know.  Something...anything...that will pick up my appetite, will be welcome!

Kat, they take Megestrol, 40 mg a day.  The first prescription before it was sent to their mail order, Rightsource was from Walmart and was one of those $4.00 prescriptions.

Thanks arkmom!  I'll ask the doc about it when I go to the clinic.  Don't know if they'll give it to me.   From what I read, it's actually only recommended for use for patients with a couple of types of cancer, or for AIDS patients after they begin serious weight loss.  But the article said it has a pretty low incidence of serious side effects.  It's a synthetic progesterin.  Maybe if they'd let me have some for just a few weeks, it would help get me eating again, and my stomach stretched out to where I can actually hold a normal amount of food.  Maybe it would be enough to get me kick started.

It is also for elderly with loss of appetite (not you, LOL!) and anorexics, anyone taking chemo and radiation and I read some children are given a derivative of it if they are severely under weight/nourished.  A few weeks on it or something similar would probably be good for you.  It wouldn't hurt to ask.

I just hit the big 6-1, so I guess I qualify as elderly...lol!  It's certainly worth asking about.

Heheheee arkmom.  The scales lie to me, too.  But just the opposite direction.  I didn't even get on the scale when I went to the grocery store on Saturday...I knew it would be bad news regarding more weight loss.

I ate some cake and ice cream awhile ago.  The cake and piles of frosting were soooo rich.  Delicious, but very rich.  I left half the icing in the bowl.  Shortly after, I sat on the bed to take off my jeans and put on jammies...flopped over and fell asleep for 30-40 minutes...then woke back up, wired for sound.   Probaby because of the chocolate.  aaarrrggghhh!   I'm exhausted and want to go to sleep.  My brain and body refuse to go to sleep.  I really should know better by now than to load on chocolate and sugar at bedtime...lol

Withouth the proper exclamation, I can see this getting a wide berth at parties.  On the other hand, for those in the know, you could have a person being ordered to eat it as a pledge initiation or to spice up the family gathering.  Sort of like that scene in The Great Santini (I think that's the title) with Robert Duvall, where he pretends to throw up on the carpet (with Coke drink) and then orders two Marines to lick it up.

I guess we have a lot to look forward to, which reminds me of a friend who went to a pool party at her brothers house and her grandma showed up in a swimsuit with pantyhose on at least 5 shades darker than her skin!  LOL!  I might have to spring for one of those foxhead stoles to set off my tiara, a swimsuit with pantyhose somehow doesn't seem so farfetched.

So I guess she could only dig up "Coffee" instead of "Suntan"...or maybe "Alabaster"...am I dating myself? I'm thinking of the colors of L'Eggs, just about the last time I wore pantyhose! A fox stole with a bathing suit would be very smart until PETA pickets in front of your house or chokes you with it...!

I did all of the above and pulling off the pantyhose painted with clear polish was like a cheap wax with a little bit of skin removal for staying power...

I have never tried any fried mushrooms, but they sure look delicious. All of it looks good, I'm going to try some of everything! Yum Yum!! 

I'm sure you'll love the fried mushrooms.  I've cooked up a big batch of those for the past 2-3 New Years.  Last year I cooked up two pounds, and between 6-7 of us ate, every last one, along with all the other stuff I made.

OH!  I almost forgot....fried cheese is very tasty, too!

Six battered sticks stuffed with creamy mozzarella cheese. Deep-fried to a golden brown and served with a side of warm marinara sauce.
