In ordinary parlance, when there is a lot of paper or “fiat” (Latin for “let it be”) money in circulation, prices go up and our dollars buy less. This is inflation. In two famous photographs of 1923, a German housewife burned “marks” in her kitchen stove because it was cheaper to burn money than to use them to buy firewood and a gentlemen pushed a wheelbarrow full of cash to buy a loaf of bread.

Any establishment is comprised of a few genuine navigators, and a much larger contingent of people whom the true leaders humor with the illusion that they too are movers and shakers, when in fact they are mere ballast. This larger group consists not only of the people whose names actually appear in the leaders’ rolodexes, but also of a “spiritual establishment,” if you will—those who wish to persuade the general public that they are players, in the hopes (a) that they can thereby distinguish themselves from the ignorant flock, and (b) that the real members of the establishment might finally invite them to this year’s initiation ceremony.

Sticking to the Saul Alinsky “demoralize the masses” strategy, Barack Hussein Obama seems to like the use of scare mongering tactics.  During the long three and a half years of his administration, it seems that every Friday evening is Fright Night, the worst of them occurring on Christmas and Easter.

The new catchphrase of the campaign analysts and pundits which seems to be rising above the ordinarily heard terms like democrat, republican, liberal or conservative is the word, ‘establishment.’ It seems to find definition only when voters pick candidates that regardless of campaign rhetoric, declared platform or past record, look and feel like someone that will lead America out of its sinking fiscal problems.

By combining an opposition to free enterprise with an opposition to industrialization, the left has adopted not one, but two platforms that doom the economic survival of their host societies. Even the Soviet Union and Communist China, systems which were the worst embodiment of leftist economic ideology did not throw out the industrial baby with the capitalist bathwater. Had they done so both countries would still be hopelessly feudal today, instead of crony capitalist mafia states with a lot of available consumer goods that create jobs and make life easier.
